1 Lourence

Chapter 1

Lourence, 15 years old, a high school student. You can't call him ugly nor handsome, his looks is just average. His academics is just average too, he really hates studying. His hobbies are reading novels, watching anime and listening to music. He pretty much loves to be at home lazing around. He doesn't want to waste his energy in outdoor stuff.

But he was invited in a field trip with his classmates. Though, he hates to waste his energy, there's nothing he can do, because if he doesn't come, he's teacher will fail him. His teacher's purpose for this field trip is to strengthen the bond of her students.

In the back of the bus, Lourence is sitting there and frustratingly said, "They shouldn't force people to go."

There's so many anime that he still need to watch. So he doesn't get left behind at the trend of the 'Otaku' community.

On the way to the place, he is feeling bored. So he took out his book and earphones. He connected his earphones to his mobile phone and played the song 'All I Ever Need by: Austin Mahone'. Then, he opened his book and started to read.

Drip.

Suddenly tears fell down his cheeks. Then he sighingly said, "There it is again. What is happening to me?"

It all started a few days ago, whenever he listened to music, his perspective about the world change. He becomes emotional, and he couldn't stop himself from crying. There's a feeling in his heart that he wants to be all alone in the mountains and enjoy the feeling of seeing the nature.

Finally, they reached their destination and their teacher started to instruct them. The inn that their teacher reserved, is a two story house that has 8 rooms that overlooking the view of the mountains. Then, they were assigned to their rooms. He was assigned in a room that has a very nice view. He can see the beautiful mountains and a river, and it temps him to go for a swim. Although, he hates to waste his energy, when he was younger, he is not the 'shut-in' type of person like he is now. He started to become an 'introvert' when he started high school. He became bored of going to crowded places, he started to realize that he is different from his friends.

He stopped thinking about his past after there. He wants to enjoy this field trip, thinking of the past makes his mood sad.

On that night, they were called to eat dinner. After he took a food, he started to gobble down enjoying his food in his assigned room. Watching there, he enjoyed the view from outside. He can see the beautiful moon perfectly, so he started thinking that he wants to go outside. After finishing eating his food, he hurriedly changed his clothes and opened the door.

Tod, Tod, Tod.

He is walking through the direction of the lake to take a good look there. Then he suddenly saw a beautiful figure sitting on a log. She is Christina, she's popular in their school, because of her beauty that is hard to resist to. She is a daughter of a very rich businessman. In the eyes of anyone she has the perfect life. But there were others that don't have interest in her. One of them is Lourence, because he has no interest in romance.

'Looks like I'm not the only one.', he murmured inside his head after seeing that he's not the only one who went there.

Christina is sitting there watching the beauty of the nature that was radiated by the moonlight. She suddenly saw a figure passing by, she immediately recognized the person and he is Lourence. She knows him because he is well known in her class to be a loner, because of his quietness and in her perspective, he is mysterious.

She observed Lourence where he was going and suddenly became curios, so she followed him.

Going to the direction of the river, he readied his earphones and connected it to his mobile phone. Then soon he arrived at the side river and he sat on a log and started listening to the song called 'Something Just Like This'. There, he listened to the song and the feeling that he felt before came back.

Behind a tree not far from Lourence, Christina is watching him listening to music and she thought, 'What a weird person.'

Then she was startled of what he saw, Lourence is smiling and tears fell down his cheeks. She never saw him, not even once until this night, smiled. His smile made her felt relaxed, his smile is full of feeling of gentleness. Her perspective of Lourence changed this night. Then she was startled again to see him full of tears, she's feeling something that she couldn't understand, a feeling that makes her want to hug him.

Sitting on a log, Lourence's is crying while listening to the music. Then, he felt something that wants him to do the things that is said in the song.

He started thinking about this feeling and tearfully said, "You know, this isn't bad. For some reason, it makes me happy and sad at the same time."

Then he started thinking about his future and came to a decision, 'When I graduate, I will work abroad and leave this place. Of course, I will not forget my family.'

Then he became tired, and went back to the inn.

After seeing him went back, Christina went back as well.

After that, she went back inn and saw Lourence on the other direction of the corridor going to his room. Then she stared there for a while, then went inside her room.

She sat at the balcony of her room, thinking back on the things that happened.

Inside his room he started reading a novel, the usual thing he does and plugged his earphone.

'Why am I not crying?', he asked himself.

Then he asked himself, "Maybe it only happens when I'm alone?"

While Lourence is peacefully reading, he was suddenly startled when someone entered the room and he is his roommate. He's name is Adrian, he is a kind of person completely opposite to Lourence. He is cheerful and always playing games. His well known in his classroom to be a funny guy, because whenever he's around the class bursts into a laughter.

'What an annoying guy', Lourence thought.

"Wazzup man, how's your day?, Adrian asked.

'He really is annoying.', Lourence thought sighingly.

"Normal.", Lourence replied, because he doesn't want to hurt the feeling of his roommate.

Adrian paused for a moment, because he didn't expected Lourence to reply his question.

"R-right", Adrian replied.

"Well then, I'm going to sleep now." Adrian said.

Then Lourence went back to his usual thing 'reading'. After 5 minutes, he looked back to Adrian and slightly surprised. On the other side Adrian already fell asleep within 5 minutes.

"He sure is a deep sleeper.", he said.
