8 Chapter Eight

2005

Allowing the pain to consume her, Alice quickly opened her eyes before the flash could blind her. Again consumed in the blackness, she was surprised by what awaited her in the dark area. Instead of one mirror image of herself there were two. To the left of her direction stood the original wearing blue jeans, white top and a pink cardigan. With her lips parted she could see a faint smile decorating her face. To the right of her was another image, this one wearing a solid white summer dress, she stood with one hand extended. The image startled her, no expression lined her face, and where her eyes should have beamed a soft blue, were black empty sockets.

Turning from the new image Alice quickly reached for her previous self as that one slowly lifted her hand to greet her. Before she could make contact the flash intervened and Alice was transported into another memory.
