One Hell of a Day

"Oh for... Alexandra! Get the MedBoost from the cabinet! Kay took a shot to the shoulder!"

Hearing the screaming coming from the front, I rushed to the cabinets, throwing it open. Looking around, I grabbed the inhaler of MedBoost, before rushing back to the front of the store.

"Here!"

Snatching the inhaler from me, Wendigo placed the inhaler into Kay's mouth before pressing the button on the side, sending the chemicals down her throat.

Coughing, Kay's eyes flickered open. Looking towards her shoulder, I could see the wound stop bleeding as the chemicals did their work.

Unholstering my pistol, I took a peek out the door. Seeing a wall of men armed to the teeth, I growled in annoyance.

"Why the fuck did Ferra say this would be easy? That's most of the fucking Serpeco Gang out there!"

Wendigo snarled, picking up the shotgun laying on the floor. "I don't know, but I sure as hell am going to beat the answer out of her when we get back!"

Chuckling, Kay got up with a grimace, unholstering her own pistol.

"If I didn't know better, I would think Ferra wanted to off us..."

Taking a breath, I took another peek. Pulling back, I looked at Wendigo, a crazed grin on my face.

"You still got an Incendiary Shell?"

Nodding, Wendigo looked at me in confusion.

"The pricks have a few shiny, fancy new bikes out front. One of which has a gas can..."

Returning my grin, Wendigo asked "Where?"

"Gold one, three bikes down on the right side. About twenty feet away."

"Alright, let's light these fuckers up!"

Slamming a red shell into her shotgun, she racked the slide back, loading the shell.

Peeking around the corner, Wendigo smiled when she saw the bike. Bringing her shotgun around, she pulled the trigger, a deafening blast echoing through the streets.

A few moments passed, and she turned to me, snarling "Fuck Alexandra, what the he-"

Consecutive explosions quieted her, and once we gradually got our hearing back, we could hear the screams of anguish from outside.

"You were saying?"

Flipping me the bird, Wendigo racked the slide again before turning the corner, sending a rain of pellets onto an unfortunate man.

I raised my pistol, grinning.

This was my baby, my pride and joy. Although old, it had helped me kill hundreds of people over the years.

A long, sleek black barrel, a large, comfortable grip, my baby shot .45's. The weight of the pistol mitigated the recoil, and when I was able to splurge on better rounds...

I clenched my thighs together at the thought.

Quickly following Wendigo outside, I brought my pistol up, sending shots towards the last few standing men.

Watching as my shots tore through them, I smirked. Quickly looking around, I smiled even harder.

"Oh Wendigo~ Look, they left us a present~"

She turned to me, her scarred face glowing from the fires surrounding us.

"Oh damn... Is that new too? Oh fuck yeah..."

Running towards me, she looked over the low body of a new, almost pristine Hydra Turbo. Sleek, gentle curves, a mean ass engine, and amazing traction. The one sitting in front of us was a deep green, the color of the Serpeco Gang.

Looking back at the blackened storefront, I saw Kay shuffling out.

"Look! We got a bonus!"

Giving me a weak smile, she moved closer.

"Wendigo, we need to clear out, quickly. I just heard that an Imperator Squad is coming..."

Both of us stiffened. "Yeah, alright. Get in the back, Kay. I'll start the car. Alexandra, go get what we came for. Be quick!"

Nodding, I rushed. back into the store, moving towards the back.

Finding the two large briefcases, I snatched them up, running back outside.

Throwing them into the backseat next to Kay, I hopped into the passenger seat.

Wendigo was fiddling with a few wires, before coming back up, smirking.

Revving the engine, she said "Listen to this baby purr~"

"Yeah, yeah, stop getting a hard on for a car. Let's clear out!"

Scoffing, she pushed the gas pedal down, taking off.

Making our way to the main road, I relaxed a bit. Looking into the rearview mirror, I saw that Kay was pale. Opening the glove compartment, I scoffed as I dug through copious amounts of illegal drugs and condoms, before finding a MedBoost, still in the packaging.

Tossing it back to Kay, I heard her take a puff before sighing in relief.

"Get some rest you two. It is still an hour drive till we get home."

Nodding, I leaned back, closing my eyes. If she needed me, Wendigo could wake me up.

~~~
Feeling someone nudge my ribs, I opened my eyes. Seeing Wendigo grinning at me, I looked out the windshield, seeing the familiar tower in front of us.
"Megatower Archon, officially owned and run by Archon Corporation, unofficially run by the Iron Maidens... Also known as, home."
Laughing, I said "And a damn good one at that. Hey, you buying drinks?"
Chuckling, she raised a brow, looking over at me. "What, so you can get smashed and fuck some random chick? Hell no. If I'm paying, I better be getting something from it!"
Chuckling, I gave her a coy look. "Hey, as long as you get some liquor in me..."
She laughed, before saying "I'll have to pass, sadly. Reaum wants to go out tonight."
Clicking my tongue, I said "So, you two official yet, or...?"
"I fuckin hope so. I mean, she's the one calling me and paying for the dates, much to my annoyance."
"What, you complaining about free food?"
"Tch, that ain't the point. I'm the one taking the reins in the relationship. So I should pay."
I looked at her in slight surprise.
"Huh, never took you as the chivalrous type, Wedigo."
"The fuck that mean? The way I treat my women and the way I act on mission are two different things."
Falling silent, we continued to make our way towards the Archon.
Looking in the rearview mirror, I smiled when I saw Kay curled into a ball and sleeping soundly.
I looked at the dash, before turning on the radio, quickly lowering the volume. I smiled when I heard the calming instrumentals played on channel 82.1.
Wendigo raised an eyebrow at that, saying "Never took you to be one to listen to soothing music, Alexandra."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, you kill people with a smile, your borderline crazy, and that one mission, the one over in Hope District? You cut that poor man into pieces. I thought you listened to heavy shit, like screamo or death metal."
"Hey. It relaxes me, alright?"
She chuckled at that. "Yeah, I guess it's a good thing that you relax, otherwise we'd have another psycho bitch in the Maidens."
I nodded, going quiet.
Slowly, Wendigo brought us into the large parking garage. Waking Kay up, I grabbed both briefcases, following behind Wendigo as she stalked towards a bar.
Run by Ferra, she dealt in both drinks and information. She was one of the many Netrunners in the Iron Maidens, and she often gave out jobs to those she liked.
Slamming the door open, the rowdy bar went quiet.
Wendigo was a beast of a woman, really tall, muscular, and paired with the scars littering her face...
People scurried out of her way when she was angry.
Following behind her, I placed the briefcases on the counter, where a thin woman was wiping a glass down.
"Wendi, really. If you break my damn door I'm gon-"
"I don't give a fuck about your door, Ferra. That job you gave us? Why the hell was Serpeco waiting for us?"
Looking up at Wendigo, the woman tilted her head, her multiple cybernetic enhancements shining in the dim light.
"They shouldn't have been there. Tonight is their celebration night. No one should have been outside of their hideout."
"Well obviously they didn't get the fucking memo."
Sighing, Ferra turned towards the wall behind her. Pushing a few buttons, a small screen appeared. Tapping on the holographic keyboard that appeared, she scoffed.
"Well, looks like the client reneged on the agreement. He sold you out, hoping to get in Serpeco's graces. Idiot. We run this part of the city."
Chuckling, she turned, saying "Well, you can rest assured. Him, his family, his friends, all of them, dead by the end of tomorrow. So, as compensation, drinks are on me!"
Wendigo shook her head, saying "Not for me, Reaum wants to go out."
Kay smiled weakly. "I gotta rest. This damn wound stings like a bitch."
I sighed, before saying "Well, looks like I gotta drink for three then."
The bar behind me roared in approval, and as both Wendigo and Kay made their way out the bar, I took my first shot of many that night.
