12 Pendant

Zen has been running for half an hour, he was tired, his head felt like it was being squeezed out. He was feeling his heart beat all over his body. Sweat now filled him all over, like he just went for a swim.

He was never athletic but that doesn't mean he was weak. Carrying the baby in his arms, he also need to care for the baby's safety not just his. It was godsend that the guard who was with him the whole time hasn't give up yet.

Zen looked back only to see the still swarming soldiers. "F*ck! Don't these guys learn to give up?!" he muttered with silent anger.

His eyes went to the guard beside him, and vice versa both their eyes met. "Why.. don't we... just give it to them" the guard breathlessly said.

Zen eyes flashed with anger, "They sacrificed their life for the child and you want to abandon it? You do know why they chose to fight right?!"

The guards eyes lighted with understanding, he closed his mouth and just continued running.

Zen and the guard was running in their seemingly endless marathon, they looked back to see that no soldier was in sight. They were confused but soon that turned to delight.

"They're gone. We should rest for now" Zen said before placing the baby down and collapsing. The guard also did the same, they let their guard down and just rested.

'Wow that was intense!' Alex thought as he lay on the ground. He observed his surroundings only to see it unfamiliar, he remembered how he was cut by his mother, but didn't quite remember how he got here.

With limited movements, Alex crawled towards the forest.

He kept crawling until his knees and hands got dirty, even as they bled from the sharp pebbles. He was going somewhere maybe no one can find him, or he was just eager for adventure.

Soon he arrived at a small abandoned temple, it had vines growing around it. He could also hear the sounds of animals residing the temple.

He continued crawling despite the dangers.

A shadow then came over him and appeared to be a man.

"Strange. What is a child doing here?" Alex heard the mans voice.

Suddenly his feet was grabbed and he hung upside down.

"Were you also sent by them?" The man asked curiously.

He contemplated for a bit before concluding, "No you must not be, even if you were I'd like to see what damage you can do." he smiled.

He threw Alex unhesitatingly. Alex only could only watch as he fell, closer as gravity pushed him down to his end.

But before that could happen. A hand grabbed him and stopped the fall, it was still the same man.

"Now I'm sure you're not with them." the man said dismissively as if he didn't just throw a year old child 20 feet into the sky.

'What the f*ck? You're using me as a testing machine?! Can't you see these lousy arms and legs? How am I supposed to fight back!' Alex thought barely able to keep his anger, he almost died.

"So little one what are you doing here?" The man asked.

'The real question is what are you doing here?' Alex asked though he could only mumble gibberish.

Then he heard the man starting to laugh by himself, "Ahhh, a few years of no companion and i'm expecting a baby to understand me and answer."

Then the man turned to him, "Can you?"

Alex hesitated whether he should answer truthfully, he didn't.

Laughing and reaching for his toes, he giggled and acted all cute.

"Guess not" The man muttered.

"Young master?! Where are you?" The man heard a voice shout not far.

The mans eyes lit up as he understood the situation. He grabbed a pendant in his pocket and placed it to neck.

"I don't know If you could understand me or not. But never tell anyone anything about the pendant."

He smiled before turning around, "It must be fate that made both of us meet" then he disappeared.

Zen cursed, "I just rest for a few minutes then the young master was missing. How can I rest this whole trip now?"

The guard was also frantically searching with him occasionally cursing under his breath.

Zen then saw at a distance, a figure of child was playing. After he saw the surroundings, he saw it was an old temple. He didn't know for who it was, and he didn't plan to find out.

Zen ran up to Alex. He buried Alex head in his neck as if to protect him. He looked around to see it was safe, then after a while he sighed.
