4 Kidnapping

Not far from where he stood was a woman. She was wearing formal business attire, carrying a suitcase on her right side. She looked haggard, if one looked closely enough at her face, she had dark circles under her eyes, her eyes puffy.

Walking only a few steps, the woman stopped and her hand reached toward her pants and took out her phone. A new iphone model and tapped the screen a few times then raised it to close to her ear. She then dialed and raised, repeating until whoever she called answer. She looked somewhat frantic.

Alex eyes almost popped out thinking 'this woman looks like a walking goldmine', but he's still hesitant, this seemed suspicious. Why would any rich or decent people walk in this dirty alley.

Alex was only here because he was a small time thief, he wouldn't dare to find trouble with anyone rich and powerful. He kept his guard up and his eyes stayed on the woman's lithe figure.

Minutes passed and the woman stayed still, in the exact same position, not moving an inch, still her phone tightly held in her hand.

Alex frowned, then thought 'Really Suspicious!'

Alex was sitting on a emergency exit stairs that most buildings had, it was a good thing no one was living on the level he was on. So he could wait casually without being uneasy, if there was anyone there they might call the police reporting a suspicious man who was sitting right outside their house, he will definitely get arrested.

'Hello? I'm here.' The woman said which was audible and enough to hear. A few seconds passed and, 'Please give her back! I've brought the money!' Her voice broke.

'I swear I didn't call the cops' Her voice pleading. 'No I didn't ask anyone for help!'

'Please I have what you want now give her back to me!' She was screaming.

'Okay. Okay.' She was calming down. 'I'll wait.'

Alex was watching this scene unfold from the 10-story building. He was surprised by this unexpected situation. He quickly grasped that the woman's child was kidnapped and the responsible for this asked for a ransom in exchange for the child.

'Wow. Trouble in the morning! Now i'm gonna get caught up in another!' He mulled.

Alex knew if he left now. Maybe he won't get caught up, but something kept telling him to stay.

For almost half an hour Alex patiently stayed and watch. The woman who was there was constantly pacing back and forth, completely uneasy about the safety of her daughter.

Alex who still alert, thanks to living in the slums, he knew what trust no one really means. No one don't just mean to people, it also means your surroundings and quite possibly yourself. Don't trust your guts, always think logically. That's what Alex always kept in mind.

'Screech!'

An old Toyota van screeched to a stop. Alex was alerted. He viewed the van with a small binocular he always brought with him, it costed him a bit over $15 but he knew it was worth the money.

Alex observed the van. It looked like it could hold about 6 people or more. He noticed that the plate number was nowhere to be seen, and the window was tinted. 'It seems they came prepared' he thought.

The woman who was in a daze came forward with trembling legs. She gripped the briefcase tightly her hands started turning into a shade of purple.

The van opened its door revealing two men holding down a child, who seems to be about 8-9 years old.

The child had blindfolds on and was struggling under the grip of those men. 'I want my mommy!' she was crying.

'It's okay baby. Mommy's here! I swear i'll get you back.' She tearfully said while her hand held her mouth.

'Mommy take me out of here. It hurts. My body hurts' The child wailed. 'I swear i'll never take candy from strangers again!'

When Alex who was still on top heard those words. His anger peaked. Although he knew he was no good guy, he only resorts to stealing because he had no money and just to survive.

The woman's eye enlarge. She clenched her hand into a fist and angrily asked, 'What the f*ck did you just do to her?!'

The man chuckled and licked his lips ambiguously, 'Oh this was just a little something we did, I didn't think you would mind it'

'My poor baby. I'm sorry. Mommy's sorry. Just wait honey. We'll be together soon!' The woman promised her daughter.

She understood the pain her daughter experienced was immediately filled with intense fury but still thinking her child was still in the hands of those men she compromised.

One of the men asked, 'Did you bring the money?'

The woman forcefully nodded and raised the hand holding the case.

'Open it' The man ordered.

The woman complied with a whimper. She opened the case and revealed what was inside the case. Which had stacks of money.

The man nodded and said, 'Throw it'

'I did what you want, I didn't contact anybody not even the police. I even prepared the money. Give me daughter back first before you get the money!' The woman angrily shouted, she was breathing heavily, but her voice was breaking down.

'We like to do this professionally miss, give the money first before you get the hostage'

The woman was in distraught, 'How make sure you'll actually give her back?'

'Its now or never!'

'Okay! Okay' The woman panicked. 'Please give her back' She threw the briefcase towards the van.

'This was too easy! Hahahaha' The men inside the van laughed.

'Now give me back my daughter' She said, pleading.

'We'll meet again soon' One of them said before closing the door.
