32 Training: Day One, The Chamber

"At least tell me what this death machine is supposed to do!" Arthur pleaded as the hatch to the chamber closed locking him in, his head darting from side to side looking for some form of escape from the surprisingly comfortable machine.

"It's supposed to and I quote 'Revitalize the body while simultaneously healing wounds that Aura has trouble fixing as well as stimulating muscles to further their growth' or at least that's what the brochure said" She explained

"Oh, that doesn't sound that bad."

"There were also warning that any broken bones, dislocated joints and necrosis of the muscle fibres were a possible side effect of using the machine." Summer nonchalantly stated to a mortified Arthur as she raised her finger and pressed the button before Arthur could retort.

"Don't worry Arthur, it shouldn't hurt… at least I hope not…" she murmured

"Damn you Summer! If I die so help me… I… will… haunt… you… Ohhhh… that feels good…" Arthur moaned as the machine began to massage each muscle in his body in a smooth and steady rhythm as the gel bed began to heat up around his body enveloping him in an abyss of contentment.

"All righty guys, how's our guinea pig… I mean friend doing?" Pit asked his crew.

"All vitals are steady, phase one is complete, no faults detected in systems. Shall I proceed with phase two?" one of the technicians answered.

"Good, proceed with phase two" Pit ordered.

"Proceeding with phase two" the techie responded.

Within the chamber the undulations of the gel had stopped as the blue gel took on a red hue 'that's… ominous…' Arthur thought, feeling the gel getting harder in certain areas around his body specifically around his various joints.

Arthur's ominous feeling was not to be under estimated as moments later the gel wrapping around his arm move in such a way that it caused his shoulder to make a popping sound. "Gah!" he screamed out at the sudden unexpected pain that quickly dissipated soon after, but alas the same pressure appeared around his other arm as another pop could be heard followed by a scream of pain.

Outside the chamber Summer was listening to a cascade of pops coming from the chamber each followed by a shrill cry which got weaker as the popping went on eventually dying out completely as groans took its place each sound causing her to flinch in response as remorse took hold 'am I a bad teacher?' she thought as and especially loud pop resounded through the room.

"Vital signs are stable… subject's heart rate spiked at the beginning but returned to normal parameters after five minutes and thirty eight seconds. Permission to proceed with phase three?" a techie requested.

"Permission granted." Pit replied

"Proceeding with phase three" the techie responded.

After six agonizing minutes of popping and screams Arthur had come to terms with the constant pain that racked every joint in his body, eventually he felt he may even come to like it as after each pop there was a sense of relief that flourished through his joints and bones. At this point he was pretty sure if a bone could bend it had been popped by the machine. The machine had turned itself from a full body massage chair into a particularly rough and effective chiropractor.

The gel within the machine had once again returned to its original blue hue as the undulations of the machine returned with the colour, albeit gentler than the first time as the slow rotations slowly drained his body of the aches brought on by the popping of his various bones.

"That's better…" Arthur whined as the machines rotations slowed down eventually coming to a halt, the hatch releasing a cascade of steam into the room as it slowly opened, releasing him from its gelatinous confines.

Arthur didn't budge from the gel bed as his eyes locked onto Summer's, multiple emotions floating through his mind, anger, fear, an overwhelming urge to force her into the machine as revenge for her forcing him into it.

His expression of course not going unnoticed by Summer who avoided his eye line as began to whistle a jolly tune.

Letting out a sigh "Summer, don't do that again… please… and could you help me out of this? My arms feel limp" he asked, and was soon being helped by an apologetic Summer who had hooked his arm around her shoulder and was walking him to a bench on the side.

"Don't worry, that should only last for a few minutes, five, ten give or take, then you should be fully revitalized" Pit said coming out of the technicians room. "Though, please do take it easy for the next ten minutes, we've been told that's when the most risk of a dislocation is present. After that, you should be safe."

"I'm really hating all of these 'shoulds' today…" Arthur whined.

"Oh, you'll be fine. You said it was a prototype?" Summer inquired to her red haired friend.

"Yeah, it's called a Bravos chamber, I designed it to be used to help people with severe bone or muscle conditions, albeit those ones are less… brutal… in how they work, this is the model for huntsmen and huntresses to help with their flexibility and to energize the muscles by pumping the chamber filled with a special oxygen mixture and massaging the muscles to get the blood flowing through the veins to accelerate the process of mending the minute tears in the muscle fibres while also simultaneously working out any unnecessary fat deposits." He explained.

"You're more sciency than you used to be." Summer teased

"Come's with the diploma, Sums. Welp, I need to get back to working on the kinks in this thing you two can get back to your training. You should be good now." Pit said quickly pressing a button on the wall next to the shutter, causing it to slowly lower until it was firmly shut closed.

"Right, Arthur. Back to running, you have thirty minutes to do ten laps. Now go" Drill seargent Summer ordered.

"Yes ma'am!" Arthur shouted as he quickly bolted away from Summer and onto the track for his second training session of the night.

"Uuhhhhh…" whined Arthur, his face planted onto his textbook during one of professor ports infamous stories of his youth, which were most definitely not over exaggerated in any way whatsoever.

"Is-is he okay?" Blake whispered to her partner, staring in concern at Arthur who hadn't move since the beginning of the lesson, only releasing groans every few minutes.

"I-I have no idea… this has never happened when mom trained us for a while, she went far, sure. But never to the point of turning us into a zombie." Yang whispered back.

"Just what did your mother do to him?" Blake nervously asked, getting a death stare from Weiss who was trying to listen to Port's tale.

"I have no idea…" the blonde responded.

"Should we help him?" Ruby inquired

"No, if we do, mom will force us into his training. Save yourself and stay away Rubes, there's nothing we can do for him now."

"Ms. Xiao Long" Port called out "now, I know you are all young and excitable, but please do keep your voice down during my stories, there is much you could learn from them!"

"Sorry~" Yang responded.

"Thank you." Port winked at Yang causing her to groan as she rolled her eyes in discomfort "As I was saying, little Totta was a feisty Deathstalker to say the least…" Port continued his story of his adventures with a pet deathstalker he had during his youth and his time fighting alongside it before little Totta heroically sacrificed itself in a fight against a pack of Beowolves, each of its attacks narrowly missing Port while killing Beowolves that had lunged from behind him. Totta eventually perished when it had exhausted itself out after the fifteenth hour of assault by the horde of Grimm.

"I still have little a memento of Little Totta to this day, as during his last death throes he used his stinger to give me one last farewell and a gift to remember him by." His story finally ended.

"Now, I'm sure you all must have a lot to process and learn from that story but, as per usual at this point, we shall be having a demonstration of combat prowess! Mr. Fielder, I have received a request from young Summer to give you a worthy fight, come down and face your opponent!" Port called out to Athur who's only response was a louder groan.

"Yes, yes I understand your body is probably in intense amounts of pain after your training yesterday... Why this reminds me of a story from when young Summer and her team were still attending the academy! Why, I was tasked with watching over team STRQ during their first mission, they were assigned to investigate a small village on the outskirts of Vale that had recently been overrun by Grimm." Port began a new story, thankfully forgetting about Arthur.

"Oh, but young Summer couldn't make things easy for her teammates, almost the instant we arrived in the airspace above the village she had tied up little Ravens hands behind her back and kicked her from the bullhead into the Grimm infested village, shouting something about 'it builds character!' as she watched Raven's rapid descent into the village. She was an amusing one that Summer, during the same mission she had tied Taiyang and Qrow together back to back and forced them into a veritable horde of Beowolves telling them it was a 'teambuilding' exercise…" Ports story of Summer and her antics continued for the rest of the lesson

"Did your mother really do that!?" Weiss called out in horror turning to Ruby whose eyes were wide open and her mouth was hanging, indicating that this was the first time she was hearing about this as well.

Just then a bell rang throughout the class alerting everyone to the end of the lesson "Ah! It seems I got a tad distracted there. Mr. Fielder, your prey can await our next lesson, you are all dismissed!" Port called out to the class which vanished within moments of him announcing their freedom, the only people left over being teams RWBY and JNPR along with Arthur who still hadn't moved from his seat, face still firmly planted into his book.

"Arthur?" Ruby softly said arriving next to Arthur "Are… you okay?" she asked.

Arthur turned his head now having the side of his face on the desk as his eyes wearily stared into Ruby's "Everything… hurts…" he whined

"D-do you need help?"

"Please… my arms feel like jelly and I can't feel my feet…" he groaned out as hi lifted his arms showing them to be shaking so much that it would give a Chihuahua a run for its money.

Bending down slightly Ruby picked up one of Arthurs arms and wrapped it around her shoulder and slowly began to raise the limb Arthur, finding that he wasn't putting any strength into his legs at all as all his weigh seemed to go to her.

"You're… heavy…" Ruby forced out with a red face before dropping Arthur back onto the seat.

"You okay there sis?" Yang asked coming up next to her sister.

"Arthur's gone all jelly legs, I'm trying to help him, but he's heavy… Can you do it? you're the strongest in our team." Ruby admitted.

"Oh~ your giving me permission to touch your husband?~" she sang out teasingly

"Yang! No!" Ruby shouted out with a blush "Please just help him up…" Ruby pleaded as she tried to hide her blushing face with her hood.

"Fine, fine~ but hey, can't say my hands won't 'accidentally' wander while I carry him~" Yang teased with a lascivious stare at Arthur who was in too much pain to even retort or even blush.

"YANG!" Ruby shouted.
