25 Friends and Broken Sun

Picking up his Guitar Arthur took a seat on one of the stools he had bought and rested his right leg atop his left with the guitar on top, ready to play a song. "Any reque-" Arthur was about to ask but was interrupted when someone knocked on his door.

'Wonder who that is?' he questioned to himself as he stood up a laid the guitar atop the stool he had been using. Opening the door Arthur was met with the white hair and pale blue eyes of Weiss in her nightwear.

"Oh, Weiss. Do you need me for something?" he calmly asked.

"I, I want to say sorry for how I treated you during lunch. I let my emotions get the better of me, I have been trying to be the best person I can be, but when you said that those of the higher class were 'tribalistic' I let it get to my head. And for that I am sincerely sorry" She said as she bowed slightly to apologize.

"Ok" Arthur shortly stated, surprising the heiress.

"Ok? That's it? You're not angry?" perplexed Weiss.

"Why would I be? I mean sure, you acted like the spoiled brat. But I wouldn't hold that against you, especially with the sheltered life you grew up in." Arthur explained

"I was not sheltered!" she retorted with a scowl.

"Keep telling yourself that." He deadpanned with a blank face, shortly after releasing a sigh "Look, Weiss, out of everyone here, you are probably the most sheltered, you live in a mansion with dozens of guards to protect you. Maids and butlers to serve you, I doubt your father would let you go anywhere with at least five guards at any one time, IF he even let you go anywhere." Arthurs words dug deep into her heart "The most actually 'friendly' interactions I think you've ever had is between you, your sister, your mother and maybe on of the butlers or maids, and honestly, that's probably it." He went quite as he let Weiss digest his words.

"I-I have had friends apart from them!" Weiss weakly argued, not convincing even a hair on her head.

"Weiss… they were not your friends. They were your suitors that your father was setting up for you, I doubt you saw many girls your age growing up, and if you did, they were most likely there to be suited to your brother, not to become your friend."

Weiss, couldn't even make any arguments at this point, she brought her left arm up and grabbed her right as she stared at the ground, lost at what to think. "I… don't have friends…" she murmured. Earning her an annoyed twitch from Arthur who lifted his arm, making a fist and quickly bringing it down atop Weiss's head with a hollow 'Thunk' reverberating throughout the halls, sending her to the floor with a strange "Gnyah!" noise, that Arthur never would have thought would come from the prim and proper princess.

"Ow! You bastard! What was that for!" she screeched as she rubbed the top of her head with an angry face.

"Good, you're back. Don't act like that, it doesn't fit you" he blunted, chuckling as he saw her angry glare that honestly just looked like an angry kitten. Kneeling on the ground Arthur raised his hand, causing Weiss to flinch, expecting another hit. But all she got was a soft pat on her head, confusing her.

"Weiss, you do have friends." To which Weiss blanked, trying to figure out who he meant. Throughout the process, not stopping Arthurs head pats. Seeing her confusion Arthur sighed before removing his hand from her head, which go her attention as she looked up to him, meeting his eyes.

"Ruby, Yang, Blake, Pyrrha, Nora, Jaune and Ren, they are all your friends, actual friends. So don't ever say you don't have any, because you do. You just haven't realized it." Arthur let out a wide smile as he slowly stood up, once again putting his hand on Weiss's head and giving her head a rough ruffle, stopping when Weiss raised her hands trying to toss his hand away from her head in an effort to save her hair from even more mess.

Once Arthur was done messing with Weiss, he let out a hearty laugh as he watched Weiss angrily begin to flatten her hair down, looking more like a small white kitten grooming itself. As she was fixing her hair she saw a hand in her peripheral vision, turning her hand towards it she saw Arthur had put his hand out to help her up.

Taking his hand Weiss was quickly lifted from the ground, still looking angry or as angry as a kitten could be, getting another small chuckle out of Arthur, which was starting to irk her.

"And what's so funny then?" she asked as she put her hands on her hips and bent forward slightly.

"I'm… I'm sorry, it's –it's just you look adorable when your angry, like a little kitten not getting it's treat." He admitted patting his chest in an effort to calm himself down. While Weiss looked shocked with a light blush on her face

"Wha!? I am not!" She argued as she quickly turned around and stormed off, stopping slightly when she heard Arthur call out.

"Weiss, If you ever need anyone to talk too, I'm here. That's what friends are for." He said as he watched her enter the room directly next to his. 'Huh, guess we're neighbours' he thought as he noticed a plate with 'RWBY' inscribed on it.

'How did I not notice that…' he mused as he closed his door and returned to his room.

Entering her room in a huff Weiss quickly arrived next to her bed and quickly got her comfy as she lay down on her stomach. Ignoring the stares she was getting from her teammates.

"What happened to her?" Blake whispered to Yang who just shrugged her shoulders before lying back down with sleepy eyes, obviously not awake enough for her usual teasing. Turning to Ruby, Blake shot her a questioning look, which was reciprocated with another set of shrugs.

Leaning over the side of her bed Ruby asked "You okay Weiss?"

"He called me a kitten! How dare he call me that!" she complained getting a giggle from Ruby and squinted eyes from Blake. Yang was completely unconscious at this point, obviously not caring at all about Weiss's petty problems.

"Weiss that sounds more like a compliment, not an insult" Blake said, only getting an annoyed grunt from the heiress.

"Arthur is too kind to be a bully, he's too kind for that." Ruby admitted once again getting a grunt from Weiss who was burying her head into her pillow.

"Can we please just go to sleep? We have class tomorrow morning." Weiss attempted to go off topic.

"Nope" Ruby popped the P "You're going to tell us why your acting like this, you look more peeved than you usually do when someone calls you something." Ruby stated "And Yang keeps calling you Rice Queen, and I know how much you hate that one. So yeah, there's another reason you are so crabby"

"I am not Crabby!" Weiss retorted, sitting up to accentuate her claim, only to get doubtful stares from both Ruby and Blake. Causing her to freeze as she realized that she was more irritated than usual. As she thought about it, Weiss went completely silent, her mind wandering through the conversation she had held with him, her mind lingering on the feeling of her head being gently pat by him. She brought her own hand up to her head and patted it as well finding that it felt less 'comfortable' to her.

Seeing Weiss's actions, Ruby and Blake once again shared a look, resulting in them both shrugging. Before turning back to the silent snow queen who was stroking the top of her head with a curious expression on her face. "Weiss?" Ruby called, breaking her from her trance

"Hmm? Oh, ah, Ruby, it-it's nothing. I was overreacting, I have calmed down now." Weiss said, her light flush hidden by the darkness in the room. "Can, we go to sleep now?" she asked, lying down on her bed and tucking herself under her blanket on her side.

"Hmm… Fine…" Ruby said with squinted eyes as she picked up her scroll and pressed the button that controlled the dorm room lights, plunging the room into a pale glow due to the small amount of light coming through the window due to the moon.

Once the lights were out, Weiss brought her hand up to her head and placed it atop her head again as she tried to replicate the calming feeling she had felt just minutes earlier, a small smile evident on her face as she slowly fell into slumber.

"Okay, first lesson today is… Combat with Goodwitch… shit…" Arthur complained as he checked his schedule while brushing his teeth, having woken up just ten minutes earlier at six thirty.

"Who knows, maybe she'll give you the day off, because your still injured?" Ashe unconfidently commented. "Yeah… no. you're screwed." She bluntly stated to the now downtrodden Arthur.

"Well, hopefully I get Jaune, I could probably take him… Nope, she's going to give me Cardin at the least." Arthur held his head in his hands, letting out a heavy sigh. "And I just got out of the infirmary…"

"It, it won't be that bad, you have your Aura! They stop once your Aura is in the red, so you should be safe… I think?" The Tome keeper commented, trying to comfort Arthur.

Moments later Arthur heard a knock on his door, as well as the recognizable voice of Yang, calling out to him telling him to open the door. Releasing another sigh Arthur contemplated just leaving the door shut, but the hammering on it kept getting harder and louder, he expected that the noise had already awoken most of the other teams.

Deciding that a bruise or two would be easier to deal with than a broken door and the spite of the rest of the academy. He opened the door, fully expecting to be attacked in some way. Yet surprisingly, instead of a fist, Arthur was met with team RWBY without the R.

"Morning, thanks for not punching me, again." Arthur said as he stood in the door frame watching Yang begin laughing while the others looked at her with annoyed looks, Weiss and Blake looking particularly tired "So, what can I do for you all?" he asked.

"Just came to see how our new neighbour is doing" The yellow one said looking pleased with herself.

"Riiiight. At six in the morning? Doubt Weiss is much of an early riser, let alone Blake" Arthur commented with a sceptical look in his eyes.

"They woke up on their own. Then I had the idea of checking up on the new guy." Yang said the glares from Weiss and Blake getting even fiercer in their pursuit of anger.

"Anyways, what can I do for you? And, where's Ruby? Haven't seen her since lunch yesterday." He commented as he stuck his head out of the doorframe and turned towards team RWBY's dorm room, seeing a small red petal fall from the open door.

"She's fine, just embarrassed about her little 'Jealous' outburst from yesterday" Yang said, raising her voice just enough so that Ruby could hear her from the other room. "Now, you going to invite us in or leave us high and dry?" a mischievous grin on her face.

Feeling he had had enough of her teasing for a day Arthur decided to let his devious side take hold. He took a step forward a smile on his face, bringing his hand up he lightly lifted Yang's shocked face, bringing his close to her, whispering "I could never just leave you hanging" he stated, bringing his lips just inches from hers, till the point she could feel his breath on her lips.

Yang's body froze as her mind began short circuiting, never, not once did her tease's be returned on her, especially not like this. This was a first, it froze her body as her mind began racing as she watched him steadily get closer. But as always with teasing like this, Arthur pulled his head back while slowly pulling his hand away, making sure to keep his finger on her chin till the last minute.

Seeing his handy work of a blurry eyed Yang, Arthur pat himself on the back. His mind wandering to the two others that had been there, three if you consider the ominously shining book that was floating behind him, and four if you considered the claw marks that had appeared on team RWBY's door frame.

Looking towards Weiss and Blake, Arthur saw Weiss slack jawed her eyes wide open her face covered in a light flush. While Blake had her now well-known notebook in her hand as she scribbled down something Arthur was afraid to know about, judging by her strange cackling and the drool coming from her mouth.

'You know, I never expected Blake to be this different from the show…' Arthur commented as he compared the Blake from the show to the current one in front of him. Never, not once had he seen Blake cackle like a mad man, and if she was writing what he expected her to be writing, he was worried, so, so very worried at what was happening in her head and what had caused this personality shift.

Coming back to her sense's Yang began stuttering "I- Wha- tha-that- uhh…" her mind still comprehending what had just happened.

"I think I broke her…"
