7 Spawn.

2 months after what was known as the 'Sinister Slaughter' the entire team went up in rank. Vedeath and Esdeath were promoted to Sergeants. Usagi, Tenma, Yan, and Mana were promoted to Private First Class. The Sinister Six were making their way to Marcus' office. They walked in and stood in attention.

"Thank you all for coming to my office with haste as I have an announcement." Marcus said and the team was shaking with excitement.

"You all are being moved to the front lines." Marcus said and the team practically shouted in joy.

"Why are we being moved to the front lines?" Vedeath asked.

"Major General Duval has heard of your actions and has decided that putting you six on assassination missions isn't going to help you grow. So he decided to move you to the front line where you will fight every day for three years." Marcus said and the team nodded.

"Wait, what do you mean by fight every day? Aren't we fighting humans? They shouldn't have the resources to fight every day for three years straight." Esdeath pointed out.

"Oh, the front lines I'm talking about isn't what you think. I'll give you a little backstory, around six years ago we found a large hole. The hole was surrounded by fire and blood-colored soil, we sent a scouting team to examine the hole and they never returned. We tried it again two more times and they never returned, so we decided to send a small force of around 200 soldiers, and only ten returned. They told us about the hole and apparently, beasts with large wings, long black horns, sharp teeth, red skin, and the ability to control fire emerged from the hole. Ever since that day, the beasts which we have named 'Spawns' have been emerging every day." Marcus said and the team nodded their heads in understanding.

"So is there a limit to them? I mean they can't just emerge everyday right?" Usagi asked.

"No, they have been fighting us for six years straight. One thing we have noticed is that when they kill our soldiers they bring them back to their hole, hinting that there is a bigger Spawn that is perhaps birthing these smaller Spawns. This theory is just a theory but we have also named the supposed big Spawn as Satan." Marcus said.

"How many soldiers are stationed at this hole?" Esdeath asked.

"Around 120,000. Over the past six years, we have lost 230,000 to these Spawns. These Spawns are growing more and more powerful as the fight continues. We have caught a few and dissected them and we found a special organ that seems to absorb some type of energy and share it between other Spawns. We believe every time we kill one before they die they share this harnessed energy with the other Spawns making them stronger with each generation." Marcus said grimly.

"When do we leave?" Yan asked.

"Tomorrow morning." Marcus said as he dismissed the team and they returned to their barracks.

'I need to speak with you two. It's about these Spawns, I believe I know where they truly come from.' Samui said to the sisters and they told the team they were taking a nap. They appeared in their mindscape and Samui began explaining.

"I believe these Spawns are actually what my ancestors called Klyntars. These creatures infest a world like a virus and begin to take over. In the beginning of their conquest they start off weak but as they continue to kill and absorb the planet's magic energy, they get stronger." Samui said.

"Magic Energy? Isn't that the energy that helped create Teigu's?" Esdeath asked.

"Well yes but no. Magic Energy is the raw form of what is universally known as Mana. Mana is just the harnessed and diluted version of Magic Energy. Magic Energy is very volatile and can kill a human being within seconds of its usage. Only beings capable of using Magic Energy can use it safely, an example of these beings are Danger Beasts and Klyntars." Samui explained.

"How do you know all of this? You sound like you've seen or heard of this stuff before." Vedeath said.

"Hais, I'm a little shocked myself but another clan ability of ours is the ability to pass on knowledge. My father passed on the knowledge from his father and my grandfather passed on knowledge from his father to my father. This cycle has been going on since the birth of our race, and I'm shocked to know that my race isn't native to this world." Samui said and the sisters were confused.

"What do you mean not native to this world? You mean there are other worlds out there?!" Vedeath asked with disbelief.

"According to my ancestors, we aren't the only world with life. There are countless worlds with beings capable of killing the strongest person with a glare. My ancestors called this the Multiple Universe Paradox. I shortened it to Multiverse for convenience sake. Going back on this multiverse thing there are other planets with life and stronger people. Hell, even our race isn't native to this world. According to my ancestors, the first person of our race was born from an energy called Primordial Matter. The progenitor of our race was a large black dragon capable of consuming galaxies whole. According to the progenitor, he decided to seal away his own power until someone in his bloodline was fit to wield it. There have only three people from our race capable of wielding the progenitor's power and even then they didn't use it to its complete potential." Samui explained and the sisters listened with shock, disbelief, fear, and excitement.

"So how did our race get reduced to mere ice dragons?" Esdeath asked.

"That was the choice of the progenitor, he said it was to protect our race from extinction. I don't understand how we could go extinct considering he is one of the strongest beings in our known existence." Samui said.

"Wait, you said Is not Was. Meaning the progenitor is still alive." Vedeath pointed out.

"Do you really think a being capable of such power would die? According to my knowledge, he is dormant and waiting for someone to awaken him with his own power." Samui said.

"So how can we access the progenitor's powers?" Esdeath asked.

"As I said, only a select few of our race can access them, and the ones who did were over one hundred thousand years old. You two haven't even mastered control over water, I don't think you'll be able to control the destructive capabilities of the progenitor's powers." Samui said and the sisters were disappointed.

"So you told us all of that only to say we don't even know if we can use said powers?" Vedeath asked.

"Well, I explained our origin right?" Samui said with a nervous chuckle.

"I guess, thank you for the information on the Klyntar's it'll make them a lot easier to kill." Vedeath said as she and Esdeath exited their mindscape. When they opened their eyes instead of it being the same time as before they closed their eyes, it was morning.

"Seems like we actually fell asleep during our conversation with Samui." Esdeath whispered.

"Yeah." Vedeath said as she got out of bed and got ready for duty. 15 minutes later the rest of the team got up and also got ready. The Sinister Six walked outside to six black horses and a 15 man group who were there to lead them to the front lines in the south. The team got on their horses and rode for 10 days before reaching the front lines. The smell of blood, fire, and burnt humans wafted throughout the air. The team put the horses in the stable and went to meet the CO.

They walked into his tent and stood in attention.

"You six must be the group of younglings who have been causing an uproar throughout the Empire." A man with a formal military uniform, black hair, and green eyes said.

"Yes sir! We are known as the Sinister Six!" Vedeath said.

"I'm Captain Bull, CO of the South Spawn Front Lines." Captain Bull said.

"Since you, six are here it means that the old man must have sent you here to help you grow." Captain Bull said.

"Yes! Major General Duval sent us here to train and grow stronger for the Empire!" Esdeath said.

"Alright, then you can get started. A wave of 300 Spawns was just reported, since you, six are here for training I'll send you in alone." Captain Bull said with a smirk.

"YES SIR!" The team said in unison. They got the location from Captain Bull and left his tent. They got on their horses and rode southwest.

"That Captain did this on purpose!" Tenma yelled over the sounds of hooves hitting the earth.

"Yeah! I think he's trying to break us or something like that! He's really weird!" Mana said. The horse ride was silent after that and they continued to ride to the Spawn wave. They arrived 2.5 hours later and immediately started fighting.

"ROAARR!!" A Spawn shot a plume of fire at Usagi who dodged left and cut the Spawn in half with ease. Tenma made a Spawn's head burst open like a watermelon as he punched one of them in the face. Yan's arrow pierced through multiple Spawn's with ease and Mana's staff shot out golden rays of light and disintegrated Spawn's like nothing.

The Sinister Six fought for over 8 hours and killed well over 300 Spawn.

"I think.....the....Captain.....LIED!!" Usagi said with exhaustion as she dodged a Spawn's claw and decapitated it.

"Yeah....I....think so!" Tenma said as he put his fist through a Spawn's chest.

"How....they...still fighting!?" Mana asked as she pointed to Vedeath and Esdeath who were still fighting like they were full of energy. Vedeath turned her ice into water as she created a large wave and Esdeath froze the wave, entrapping the Spawn within the blue ice. The sisters snapped and the ice broke into pieces with the Spawn within breaking with the ice.

'I can't go on for much longer Es-chan!' Vedeath told Esdeath through their link.

'Neither can I! These Klyntar seem to be endless!' Esdeath responded. The Sinister Six fought for another 2 hours before they decided to retreat before one of them dies. Even when they were retreating the Spawn chased them through the southern plains and they fought until one of Spawn killed Yan's horse. Yan fell over and shot an arrow through a Spawn's head. His fingers were bled as he shot multiple arrows at the Spawn's and the team jumped off their horses to help their teammate.

"Hyoketsu Dragon!" Vedeath froze the air and created a large ice dragon that froze everything in its path.

"Ice Array!" Esdeath fired an assortment of ice, weapons, icicles, and ice spikes at the large horde of Spawn. Both attacks from the sisters seemed to kill a large amount of Spawn but the Spawn replenished their numbers with haste. The sisters started to feel their skin starting to freeze from the overuse of their abilities and started to fight with their swords.

"Someone get Yan on their horse now!" Esdeath yelled as she split a Spawn open. Usagi rushed over to Yan and helped him onto her horse. Vedeath and Esdeath were blue blurs as they went from Spawn to Spawn bringing a sharp blade with a side of decapitation to the Spawns.

"Leave! We've got this! Some of us need to survive!" Vedeath told the rest of her team as they hesitated to get on their horses and leave.

"We can't leave you two to die!" Tenma said and Esdeath used the last bit of her stamina to create a giant wall blocking the team from helping them fight.

"We've got this, you guys continue on. Don't look back, we'll be at the camp by morning! So GO!" Esdeath said and the team left with tears in their eyes. The sisters continued to fight the Spawn until they were bloody and wounded.

"The end is here huh?" Vedeath asked as she bisected a Spawn with exhaustion.

"Seems like it is, too bad we weren't able to reach the peak." Esdeath said as she decapitated a Spawn.

"Y-KAH!" Vedeath was stabbed in the stomach by a large claw. The claw went in through her stomach and came out through her back.

"VE-CHAN!" Esdeath's eyes widened in shock at her sister's fatal injury. Esdeath killed her way to Vedeath and held her sisters body in her arms. Vedeath looked up at Esdeath and smiled.

"I...love...you." Vedeath said as the light in her eyes vanished. Esdeath held her sister's body with a smile and looked at the large wave of Spawn incoming.

"I love you too." Esdeath said as she was stabbed in the stomach by a large claw and finally died ending the tale of the twin sisters. Unless?
