1 Elbert Hubbard

Y/N POV

I was clinging on to the light. I was scared of the darkness. Scared of losing to it. My body lay there lifelessly in the forest, my thoughts slowly drifted, and my heart pace weakened. The 'thing' towered over me. Watching intently. And it dragged me away, not wasting another moment.

I felt an odd sensation when dragged along the cold, winteriness forest terrain. The soil was boiling contrast to my body. Sticks being scraped on my body slowly tearing my clothes. I could see the rain beads on the stiff leaves dropping on the wetland. Winter was here. I couldn't resist any longer. The darkness called out to me, and I consented. 'At this point, dying seems like the best option.' I thought. I greeted the darkness like an old friend, it had won me over.

'The supernatural is the natural not yet understood.' –Elbert Hubbard. This statement stood out the most amongst many of the others. Studying the supernatural was exhilarating at first. But over time, I found no use in researching anymore. I guess it's fair to say that I once believed in the 'supernatural'. Demons, yandere, witches, warlocks, vampires. But that was before, when I was uneducated, when I was immature. Surely the 'supernatural' isn't real. Oh, how karma liked messing with me.

Blood oozed from my body, deep cuts and wounds replaced my now rough, cold and granite like skin. When I opened my eyes, I saw that I was being dragged along the forest going into a cabin. My blood trailed along with me. A murky figure carelessly dragged me by my pale aching legs and heaved me inside the cabin. I hit the floor with a 'thud.' I jolted awake and felt numb everywhere. My fingers, legs, and body felt stunned. I opened my eyes and shuffled back in fright. I heard a sinister laugh.

"W-who are you?! Why am I here?!" I yelled and frantically looked around not being able to see anything but the moon gleaming through the windows.

A voice chuckled again.

"Your worst nightmare," it whispered from behind me. I whipped my head back to try and locate the source of the sinister voice, only to be met with darkness. I squinted my eyes and looked around anxiously. Fear slowly forcing my heart to pound. The only noise was something I was despising at the moment. Silence.

"W-what do you want with me?" I asked, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. My heart was pounding and my palms were sweating.

"I can sense your fear," the voice slurred, "I can taste your sweat. I can smell your flesh. It calls to me," it paused, "but not as much as your blood." It cackled disturbingly.

"W-what? What do you mean my blood?" I questioned cautiously, not wanting to be on the bad side of whatever this thing was.

"I mean," a menacing figure appeared out of nowhere in front of me, "I'm ready to feed and your blood is just the thing I need to quench my thirst." The moon glimmered on the side of its body. It leaned forward and I had now just noticed its eyes. Black. Full of hunger. A smile made its way to its face. A hungry and menacing smile. By now my heart should've already bounced its way out of my chest with its increasing heart rate. My face morphed into one of horror and fright.

"N-no!!" I shrieked. I scrambled up and tried to make my way away from this thing. I stumbled into a door frame. I pushed myself off and ran to the door. I was halfway there when something threw me back. My body hit the harsh, unfriendly wooden floor. I groaned in pain and rolled on my stomach. I pushed myself up and went for it again. The voice behind me tsked.

"Foolish human," it spat " nothing can help you now." I was flown across the room and I clashed into the wall, a scream escaping me. My body held up against the wall, as if something was holding it there. The figure stalked towards me and my breath hitched.

"You can't possibly think you escape me," it spoke "a demon."

'A demon?!' My head was spinning. Once suppressed memories began swimming through my head. Pictures, diagrams.

"Pathetic little human, I'll be doing a favour getting rid of you." The demon growled. My brown doe eyes locked eyes with its charcoal onyx eyes. It's eyes reflected hunger and anger. It grew closer and closer. I closed my eyes, all the memories of the past came flashing back. ' Demons...so full of anger and hate...feeds off of human blood...there'll be no escaping...' There's nothing I could do. I was so weak, so vulnerable. I was in danger and I couldn't do anything about it. But, I won't stop fighting, I won't stop trying. It can kill me but it can't kill my will to fight for my life. Even if that means dying. I opened my eyes and stared hard in it's eyes.

Third Person View

The demon hesitated. It looked in her eyes and saw something it didn't expect to. Vulnerability, yes, but something else it couldn't describe. Like a raw firmness in her eyes. As if there was a newly lit fire behind that vulnerability. Vulnerability mixed with a new raw emotion. It's seen this before, long ago, when it was with her. Her, the one it had lost. Lost because it couldn't save her. It loved her and she paid the price. The reason it felt again. The reason it had turned into a 'he' instead of an 'it'. It ignited something deep down inside of it. The demon no longer felt the appetite of feeding off the human girl in front of it. She reminded it of the last human that reflected her eyes. It growled in annoyance and let the human drop harshly on the floor. It stared at her, almost seeing the resemblance of the two humans. It disappeared without a saying anything except for a word. A name. Her name. What was not known to the duo was that their paths would now entwine. And it would bring great prosperity to both worlds. But also war, a war only fought by the two and yet a war millions have fought. A war of love.
