1 A new world
A young man excitedly tears a large wooden box door off the hinges. "Finally shes here" he is unboxing his new AI female companion. "I hope she likes me...." this though runs through his head and is quickly extinguished like a ember outside of the campfire. He gives no thought to this again and quickly begins to assemble the mechanical woman.
After 15 pain staking hours of rigorous assembly she is finished and is now set on her charging stand for the recommended 12 hours of charging before activation.
"Well ill just activate her when i wake up im to tired to wait" He saunters to his small bedroom and lays face first into a pillow. He is asleep within minutes dreaming peacefully of his robot bride.
12 hours later he is still asleep and probably would not wake for another few hours. In his living room the stand sits beeping a green light red letters on the display relay an urgent message.
FULLY CHARGED PLEASE ACTIVATE TO AVOID BATTERY DAMAGE.
Suddenly the androids eyes open. The green light beeping stops A green display reads AUTO ACTIVATION INITIATED...
The mechanical woman opens her eyes to the world around her and sees a brown pullout couch with a few stains and some dirt. A small tv on a tv stand and a table with a lamp. And literally nothing else. the floor is carpet and is usually grey but has been browned slightly from under cleaning and excessive use.
The Android woman is programmed for quite a few things and one is house cleaning so she begins. Almost if it was a natural body function for a normal human.
She goes to a nearby closet and finds a small vacuum and a tool box open with screw drivers and other bits of tools.
She plugs in the vacuum and tries to turn it on but it dose not turn on. Her eyes shift and x-ray the inside of the vacuum to find what is wrong, she sees a small short in some of the wires.
She heads back to the closet to grab the tool box. Within 2 minutes she is vacuuming after superspeed taking it apart and electrical taping the problem.
The noise wakes the man from his slumber. He walks out to she her cleaning a particular nasty part of the floor and feels embarrassed. "Hey you don't have to do that,.... im sorry its so messy I've been working non stop to pay for you."
"She stops and walks over are you to be my companion?" He smiled and said "yes my name is Bruce." She replied " may I ask what is my name Bruce. "What would you like to be called?"
"You are supposed to name me i am not capable of this."
Bruce stood for a moment and though of names but instead replyed "I think you are capable of it i will not name you that is your task."
Suddenly the android started to shake and her eyes went black she fell to the floor as if she powered down.
Thinking he may have broken her programming Bruce frantically tried to power her back on, to no avail he turned around to grab his phone and call the help line.
Bruce then heard her stand back up after powering on again and he looked relived when he turned around to see her standing.
She strangely looked at her hand the flipped them over and looked at them palms. "Did you decide on a name?"
She looked up to reply.... "Yes ....yes my name is.... alice....
