4 The sleeping beauty

In the dark of the night, 5 shaded silhouettes were closing in on a camp found in the wilderness... their red eyes glowing in the dark.

Garrot was trying to keep the fire alive after 'the stupid' and 'idiotic gnome' had his watch. Melior didn't need the fire to keep himself warm, as his clothes were so thick, but sadly Garrot couldn't say the same... a chainmail for a "pullover" and a roughly sawn tunic for a shirt wasn't enough to keep the biting cold of around 10°C out. He was putting some wood on the dying embers of the fire when he saw 6 red spots under the 'shadows' of the tree line just behind the clearing. He straightened himself and shouted to the sleeping bunch. "We are under attack!" Then he proceeded to get himself between the incoming monsters and his team. Melior groggily got up as he was trying to figure out what was even happening, the same was Kyleena's and Lagiel's reaction, but to Garrot's dismay, Theron was still sleeping, he hasn't even reacted to his call to arms at all. He was about to turn around when the owner of one of the glowing eye pairs jumped up at him. That is when he heard a howl coming from behind the still sleeping Theron, and he couldn't help but curse out."Get the fuck up you lazy bast... Ahh..." He managed to stop the wolf with his shield that jumped on him, but he lost his footing and had to step a few steps back, the other 2 wolves tried to benefit on that, as they rushed at him. He hacked at the one who circled to his right side to bite at him from there, and he managed to surprise the animal and cutting it in half before the wolf realized what was happening. But this gave the other wolf an opportunity to bit his left side, luckily although he managed to slip through the defenses of Garrot, he couldn't bite through his thick armor.

The other two wolves who tried to flank the camp were too far away to arrive instantly, but they started rushing over as soon as the fight broke out. The bigger of the two, which was also the biggest of the five, jumped over the campfire and onto Garrot's back making them both fall to the ground. The two wolves instantly capitalized on the vulnerability of their opponent, but bite as they may they couldn't bite through the armor of the warrior sprawled on the ground before them.

By this time Kyleena, Melior and Lagiel managed to get up and ready to help their comrade, and even Theron woke up to the loud fight that was happening. The last wolf targeted Kyleena who managed to evade the attack of the wolf with a hair's breath. The two entered into a staring contest waiting for the other to make the first move, in the meantime, Melior tried to hit the wolf who pushed Garrot to the ground, but he used his morningstar so clumsily that he couldn't even break a single hair on the sprawled wolf's hide. Lagiel finished casting her spell just then and a spike shot out of the ground under the wolf impaling the huge wolf.

"How is that pike huge?" She shouted indignantly seeing the stone pike with a diameter of a finger sticking out from the side of the wolf. "Oh yeah, I have an Inflict Light Wounds spell. I forgot about that..." muttered Melior. Garrot managed to get on his feet the wolf on his left side managed to bite through his armor on his left hand making him drop his shield in agony. "Agghhh" He lifted himself with the wolf's jaw still tightly shut around his left hand lifting the wolf off from the ground and he stabbed his sword through the wolf's head killing this one as well, then he let his left arm fall the wolf still dangling from his arm in its 'rigor mortis'. This was the time the wolf facing off with Kyleena couldn't take it anymore and rushed at the tiefling before it. But Kyleena was ready and with 2 fast jabs, she dislocated the jaw of the wolf and the front left paw of the animal. Then she bent down to the wolf side and whispered to the whimpering animal "I am sorry lil' guy. If I don't do this you would kill us, we both know it." And with that, she broke the wolf's neck. She got up to hurry over to the others to help them. But when she looked over the dying campfire she saw Melior caressing the impaled wolf, under his hand a huge gash appearing blood flowing freely from it, and an arrow made of fire escaped from the hand of Lagiel. Piercing, the last wolf on his feet, through its head making it collapse on the ground dead.

And that is when an arrow shot from Theron's bow struck the half-dead Alpha wolf finishing it off.

Garrot dropped his sword after the prompt and touched the corpse still dangling from his arm. He put his fingers inside the wolf's mouth and tried to pry his jaw open but on the other side of his arm the teeth of the corpse pierced deeper inside his flesh, he couldn't help but groan out from the pain. Kyleena walked beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Let me help you with that. I will count to three okay? Three!" She shot then she yanked the wolf's jaw open tearing some flesh out with it. "Ouch! You insufferable, unfeeling, unnecessarily violent demon in a female skin!" He started a long tirade of unending insults while clutching his arm. Melior just muttered a few words of power and the pain faded away as waves of positive energy washed over him easing his suffering. Theron took over the last part of Garrot's guarding duty saying it would be his turn next time, and that it was his fault that Garrot was hurt anyways. They burned the wolf carcasses and went to sleep hoping that no wild beasts had been drawn to the smell of blood or to the sound of the scuffle.
