4 Chapter 2

One man sat behind a large glass table that was curved in a semicircle, facing a screen projection on the table that displayed four people; two women and two men.

"How are the results with the blanks Dr. Linda?", asked the man on the farthest left on the projection. He went by the name Gregory Philips on the battlefield, many knew him as The Knight. His bulk frame when carrying his usual shield on his back made him look like an old man, due to his already visible grey hair, dragging a large sword while walking towards his opponents that is until he was in front of you in mere seconds and before you could process the absurdity of the situation you were a goner, a testament to his awakened attribute, agility.

"Underwhelming but we have made progress, one of our subjects has responded well to our artificial cores", Dr. Linda answered while sighing, she was a tall woman judging by her height while sitting on her chair. She had dirt blond hair that complimented her hazel eyes and was only wearing a lab coat that struggled to contain the bust on her chest but was failing spectacularly.

"But?", Mr. Philips asked after seeing her sigh," The subject only survived for a couple of minutes before they died."

"A couple of minutes is a new record though, so that means we need to proceed with the previous plan, any objections?", said the man next to Mr. Philips. Commonly known as the Beast Master or Nicholas, he was a hulk of a man whose strength was used to beat down beasts into submission.

"I hope that the sacrifice is worthwhile because if it isn't, my guild is out", spoke the woman next to Dr. Linda. Nicholas lightly chuckled while saying," So, no objections good and, please don't act like your guild is the only one sacrificing their own Kara, or do you think that just because the wild is full of beasts I can easily recover the number of beasts I'm sending along with your team.".

" Do you know how long it takes to even train them? It takes damn long, I know how you feel because for me if it wasn't for Linda's assurance, she's going to give me the cores of any that are taken down I would have backed out". "Why are you people talking as if you are not going to fight, I thought the plan was to send everyone that hasn't been growing, isn't that what you said Linda?", Mr. Phillips asked confused.

Dr. Linda sighed," What I meant was and I won't repeat myself" yawn "According to recent findings from our spies, the current patriarch of Haven performed a ritual on the tree of beginnings that drastically raised the mana levels in Haven. From what my team sent back apparently, the ritual consumed more than a thousand nurtured cores which lead to the order for more humans to be captured to make up for the loss. The good news is that only the academy instructors are being sent therefore we only need to send the awakened who have hit their potential limit from class D and below."

"I still don't get why we aren't going, they are even sending instructors, they can put up a decent fight for us right?", said Mr. Philip.

"Interrupt me again you damn muscle head and I promise your next upgrade will cut off your manhood", Dr. Linda threatened and while glaring at her screen as if daring the knight to interrupt her. Mr. Philips who was about to protest that, that was simply a low blow swallowed his protest and slumped on his seat while holding his family jewels in a bid to hide them from the crazy doctor. On the other hand, Kara, a golden-haired woman with striking golden eyes was doing her best to not laugh at the horrified looks of every man present. She wondered how their followers and admirers would react after seeing them like this.

"As I was saying before I was interrupted, the reason as to why they are even going out of their way to send such instructors is because a royal is going to be in the same group of acolytes being sent. And we all know what happens when a royal is killed. To make the best of the situation we are going to send the class C's and some blanks to give them something to occupy them on the 4 sectors chosen to prevent them from advancing further. We get to deal with the trash while preventing a full-out war, a win-win for everyone. Any question?", Mr. Philips frantically shook his head to show he had no questions. Seeing his answer Dr. Linda scoffed and said, " Good."

"Jeremy?", Kara called out to the one person who was quiet during the whole meeting," I hope you are not thinking of backing out, the guardian's power is needed for this whole operation because if you let your emotional duress get the best of you because you are afraid of your wife, remember what is at stake here."

"I'll do it", Jeremy finally spoke and with that, the meeting was adjourned and the fate of four sectors judged as cannon fodder.
