14 Just Dance

Jess's POV

I was looking around and I see a brunette boy on the dance machine.

"Guys come on, I need someone to dance with me." He groaned out loud.

"Dude, dance with yourself." I hear one of the boys in the crowd yell back.

"Ugh but it's so boring without some competition."

"What makes you think we want to dance you Clyde?"

"Fine, I'll find someone else. You guys are assholes!!" He barked.

He was still searching the room when he stopped at me. A smile crept on his face as he waved me in a beckoning manner to join him.

"Hey, I need a partner to play with. Why don't you join me?" He offered with his hand out.

I walked up while taking him by the hand as he helped me onto the stage.

"Yeah, I don't mind. I was originally making my way here to play anyway."

"Sweet, I was actually wanting to play this new song hoping I could make it a challenge."

"Alright, sounds like fun. Let's dance."

He was about to select the song called, 'A Little Party Will Never Kill Nobody' until he realized something.

"Oh shit I forgot. This song required you to be holding something. I guess we need a stick so... Uhh... I don't know."

I looked around trying to come up with a solution. My eyes focused on the DJ seeing all the extra equipment behind him.

"Hold on, I got an idea." I said jumping down.

I walked over to the DJ as he was flipping through the shuffle playlist on his phone. I looked behind him seeing several mic stands.

"Hey, do you mind if I burrow a couple mic stands for a game?" I asked pointing at them.

He looked back at me slightly confused but didn't seem to care as he nodded looking back at his phone.

I walked over dismantling the stands removing about a three foot section from the top.

I walked back to the dance stage holding two poles.

He looked back at me slightly taken back.

"Think these with work?" I asked handing him one.

"Yeah, this is perfect."

I got on the stage as he selected the song fairly quickly as he was clearly excited.

"Guys, guys!!!! DANCE OFF!!!!!" I hear someone yell out grabbing everyone's attention.

I turned back to face the screen when I hear the music sound the room.

I was pretty focused on the dance moves as my competitive personality kicked in.

'He was doing very good based off of his score. It was a challenge indeed but hopefully I could win.'

When it was over I saw I scored at 99% while he was at 98%.

"Man your really good." He said holding his hand up for a high five.

I smiled at him returning the gesture.

"I'm up next Donovan." I hear behind us.

I look back seeing someone stepping up. He had a blue jacket and a blue chollo on.

"Oh now you want to dance?" The one known as Clyde asked him as the other guy was getting on the stage.

"Not with you, I'll be dancing with her." He said pointing his thumb at me as he was facing away.

I stood there slightly stunned seeing this man I never met before being so direct as if forcing me to dance with him.

He looked back at me.

"That is, if she's up for the challenge." He said confidently.

'Hmm this guy is interesting, I should play along.'

"Sure pick the song, Hot Shot." I said trying not to seem intimidated.

He didn't decline as he pushed his friend off the stage while selecting a song.

I noticed it was randomized.

When I see the song get randomly selected, I see it stop on Bangarang Extreme.

We both glanced at each other.

"Want to make this interesting?" He asked.

"What do you have in mind?"

"How about if I win, I get to take you on a date."

I crossed my arms raising an eyebrow as this indeed got more interesting.

"Uh huh and what if I win?"

"Well hun, that's up to you."

"Hmmm. How about you still pay for the date. But I take the guy that I want." I said with a smug grin.

He rolled his eyes.

"Lame, fine I guess."

"Okay, I'm ready when you are."

The song started at that moment.

He was surprisingly good but nothing that I couldn't compare to.

After awhile I was starting to grow sore as the song kept going. When the scores came up. I see he got a 97% then I looked at mine hoping to see I beat him to only find out I didn't. When I see my score, it came up as 97%.

We both looked over at each other. He looked slightly agitated as I simply smile.

"Might be for the best." I said placing my hand on his shoulder.

"That was fun and all but I think I'm ready for the drinking games now." I said jumping off the stage.

All I could hear was one last comment from him.

"She's interesting."
