Chapter 20

[Bam]

Artemis closes the door and goes downstairs with still wet hair, wearing her silk black pajama with fluffy slippers.

"Is something wrong?" Artemis ask when she saw her mother, Megan, Emily, Astrid, and Elise surrounding Rebecca.

"Rebecca's mom and she got into a fight when she learns that Rebecca met with us and join us" Emily casually explains to Artemis as she drinks her milk casually.

"Oh? What did you tell to your mom to the point of you crying with an ugly face?" Artemis was taken interested by what Emily said and comfortably sat down on the couch, looking at Rebecca and asking.

"I…I said that I'm going to join the mafia" Rebecca answered Artemis's question with her head down, speaking in a low voice but enough for them to hear.

"…"

The living room was quiet, no one makes a sound for a moment before Artemis started laughing then the others also began to laugh.

"Are you fucking moron? Of course, your mom would think that you're reading too much or she would believe you and would be mad at you" Artemis let out a snicker, looking at Rebecca as if she were a big joke.

Artemis didn't care if she offends Rebecca. Everybody also doesn't care if they offended Rebecca or anybody. If they find it funny even though it's rude, they will without caring about other thoughts.

"Arty is right Reb, you should've told her that you found a job or something" Megan added Artemis's word and look at Rebecca while trying to hold her laughter.

"Meg, it's rude to laugh," Astrid said to Megan with a sarcastic smile on her face, looking at Megan the to the document on the hologram at her front.

"What?! I didn't laugh! Art is the one who laughs and besides all of you laugh!" Megan retorted to Astrid, looking at her with a disbelief look on her face before pouting.

"I did not…PFT…" Astrid responds to Megan, folding her arms as she looks at Megan while trying to hold back her laugh.

"Please don't laugh! It only makes me wanna die!!" Rebecca covered her tomato face with her hand, ashamed of what she said earlier.

"So? Where you kick out?" Elise asks Rebecca, patting her back with a gentle look on her face.

"…Yes…she said that she didn't want me to be her daughter anymore and I should just…disappear…" Rebecca's ashamed immediately disappear when she heard Elise's question. She lowered her head as she answers politely while fidgeting her fingers. The corner of her eyes began to redden but the tears didn't flow as Rebecca forced herself not to cry.

"I'm sure that your mom only said that in spur moment but if you don't have anywhere to go, you can live here" Vania reassures Rebecca, holding her hand with a gentle smile on her face, like a doting mother.

Rebecca couldn't hold the tears anymore and began to cry again. Howling with a face filled with tears, snot started dripping from her nose but she didn't care and continued to cry like a baby.

"Geez, stop crying like an ugly child" Artemis couldn't take the crying anymore and ordered Rebecca to stop crying, placing her pinky finger to her ear with a displeased look on her face.

"…" Rebecca clenches her teeth when she heard Artemis's words, especially the word ugly child.

"FYI my mom said that I'm cute when I was a child!!" Rebecca rebuked Artemis, rolling her eyes with a pissed look on her face that even a vein appears on her neck.

"Pfftt!! Yeaaaaa right" Artemis covers her mouth and lets out a snicker, rolling her eyes as she looks at Rebecca with her eyes narrowed in delight.

"Please stop!" Rebecca covered her face with her hands once again, slumping her shoulder not daring to look at Artemis's face or it might lead her to death by attempting to punch her.

Rebecca didn't even think that she can punch Artemis, let alone land a hit on her body.

"Stop it Arty" Vania gives a glance to Artemis, stopping her before looking at Rebecca.

"You can live here, don't be shy, okay? And how about you'll be Artemis's apprentice and she'll teach you how to be an agent or how to work in the underground so in the future you can make your parents proud" Vania hold Rebecca's hand and coax her, smiling at her then look at Artemis when she said about being Artemis apprentice.

"She won't agree to that ma'am" Rebecca politely said to Vania while looking at Artemis from the corner of her eyes.

"Who said I won't agree?" Artemis said to Rebecca, tilting her head to the side while resting her arm on the couch.

"What...?" Rebecca couldn't believe what Artemis is saying and could only utter a word, looking at Artemis with a dumbfounded look on her face.

"But I won't be easy on you" Artemis let out a sweet smile as she holds her cheek with her hand, looking at Rebecca with her eyes narrowed.

"!!" Rebecca felt goosebumps all over her body when she looks at Artemis's smile, she could feel every hair on her body and stand up.

"Right ~ Big sis Arty here definitely won't be easy on you," Emily said to Rebecca, mischievously smiling at her and looking proud.

[Growling]

Rebecca's stomach growled, echoing in the whole living room causing the Stone family to laugh after hearing it.

'Ughhhh!!!' Rebecca covers her face with her hands. Steam began to show on Rebecca's head as her face is beetroot from neck to her whole face.

"Alright, Alright, let's eat now, shall we?" Elise claps her hands and looks at Vania. Vania immediately understood Elise's glance and call the servants with a smile on her face.

The servants nodded their heads after getting orders from Vania and then politely excuse their self.

After preparing for 20 minutes, all of the members of the Stone family and Rebecca sat down at their long dining table. The family started chatting happily with Rebecca joining in the conversation.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Stone Family without a fight.

Artemis and Megan began to fight about the last piece of cake which led to them pointing a gun at each other while the others betted who was going to win. Of course, Rebecca who's not used to this scene was frightened to death.

William urges Rebecca to bet even just a dollar. Rebecca wanted to refuse but felt it was rude so she reluctantly betted 5 dollars to Megan because she felt that Megan is kind than Artemis.

"Fuck!" Artemis curse when she knows that she lost, she knew she lost because she shot the last chamber and there's no bullet in it.

"Hehe, now what do we have here? It's your lost Arty~" Megan let out an evil smile, raising her head a bit with an arrogant look on her face as she stares at Artemis.

[Bam]

The sound of the gunshot scared the living daylights of Rebecca, she closes her eyes and fear that Artemis might be dead or injured but when she opens her eyes, she saw Artemis holding a bullet in her hand and a red dot appeared on her forehead.

"Congrats Rebecca, you just won your first bet!" Ezra congrats Rebecca with a gentle smile on his face as he smacks her back.

"I won?" Rebecca asks, looking confused. She still didn't fully grasp what happened but when she realized that she won, her confusion turned into a smile.

"So? How much is my split?" Rebecca asks, her eyes filled with money as she let out a hungry smile.

When they saw Rebecca's face, they couldn't help but remember Artemis's look when talking about money though Artemis's expression is much better than Rebecca's.

They let out a laugh and look at Rebecca with a welcoming smile on their face.

"1 million" their voice synchronizes with each other as they answer Rebecca's question.

Rebecca's eyes widen, her jaw drops to the floor and looks at them with a shocked look on her face.

"Whaaattt???!! I just betted 5 dollars and now I'm a millionaire?! I'm a millionaire!!" Rebecca was so shocked that she couldn't contain her excitement and shouted, looking at them with a disbelief look before smiling brightly when she realizes that she was a millionaire in just 5 dollars bet.

[Author: imagine getting 1 million because you bet 5 dollars, man I want to be like that!

Artemis: I'll send you money]

"Well technically you're supposed to have 500 thousand dollars but we don't really care how much we spend on the money we just care how much we're making at betting, we just want money baby" Artemis sat down properly and explained to Rebecca, she let out a mischievous smile while holding a stack of money on her hands that are spread on her fingers.

The family nodded in agreement and smiled mischievously.

"Wooow…. can I be adopted?" Rebecca was so mesmerized by the money that she could only say "wow" to Artemis's explanation and blurted out her last sentence without thinking.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" the family laugh when they heard what Rebecca said.

"You're going to sleep?" Rebecca asks Artemis when she saw her going upstairs after eating dinner.

"Uhuh, I have a meeting tomorrow" Artemis respond to her and was about to take a step on the stairs before she remembers something, she then looks at Rebecca with a smile on her face.

"I have something to do for you tomorrow, you better prepare" Artemis let out a grin, an evil smile appeared on her face before going upstairs and heading to her room.

"Ohhh~~ is Arty going to do an intense training~? I wanna see that" Emily pops up out of nowhere, resting her hand on Rebecca's shoulder and smiling at her.

"Good luck~" Emily patted her shoulder before going upstairs, just as she took the last step on the stairs, she turns around and give Rebecca a devilish smile.

"You're going to need it" She added before turning back and going to her room.

[Thud]

Rebecca slumped to the floor after hearing what Emily said, she rests both of her hands on the floor.

She could feel her sweats start dripping from the bridge of her nose.

'Is she going to kill me?! Intense training?! Am I going to die before I can start my awesome mission?!!' Rebecca thought to herself, crying internally as she clenches her fists.

[6:20]

Waking up early in the morning, Artemis fix her bed before going downstairs. Heading to the kitchen to grab a glass of water, she saw Rebecca at the counter, sitting and eating breakfast.

"You have school?" Artemis asks as she grabs the glass that appeared on the counter, pouring water on the glass before turning around to look at Rebecca.

"Yes, I'm thinking of commuting to go there" Rebecca nodded her head, responding to Artemis politely while continuing to eat.

"Are you an idiot? Won't your mother go to your school after running away?" Artemis said after drinking the water and washing the glass after using it, then she put the glass on the counter, after a second of waiting, the glass slowly sunken onto the counter.

"Instead of staying here and doing nothing, come and follow me" Artemis added, she grabs a plate and started eating beside Rebecca.

"Please don't kill me with your intense training!!" Rebecca immediately begs Artemis after hearing that she wanted Rebecca to come to her.

"What? What are you talking about? I'm not that heartless" Artemis raises her eyebrow as she looks at Rebecca, she continues eating after speaking.

"That's for later, I just need you to go to the college where my mission target is and look out for her" Artemis continued, glancing at her as she put a spoonful of food into her mouth.

"You're not allowed to refuse, if you do, your "intense" training will become intense" Artemis added, threatening Rebecca with an evil smile on her face.

"Ekkk!!" Rebecca let out a shriek before covering her mouth with her hands, it was too late since the shriek was let out.

"…" Artemis looks at her in silence, without uttering a word. Contemplating if she really should send her.

"Remember, don't mention me if you encounter Belle Thompson and tell them that you're only here for inspection" Artemis reminded Rebecca as she parks the Blue Lamborghini Huracán STO at the side of the road just a few steps away from the gate of the college school.

"Call me Aminah later, now go, I have a meeting to go to" Artemis open the passenger's door, leaning to Rebecca to open then pushing her out of her car.

"Hey!" Rebecca yelped when she was rudely pushed out of the car, she turns her back and was about to complain when Artemis yank her arm.

[Bam]

Rebecca hit her head in the car. Artemis ignored the sound of Rebecca's head hitting the car and continue to pull her and let her sit on the seat before speaking again.

"Here, don't forget this, and if you want to talk just whisper. Even the lowest voice you could produce can still be heard" Artemis took out a chip on the storage compartment and put it on the back of Rebecca's ear after explaining to her.

"Now go" Artemis push her out of her car again. Seeing that Rebecca landed on the floor and wasn't on the road, Artemis immediately started the engine and drove off after pressing the chip on the back of her ear.

"You're leaving me here?!!" Rebecca shouted without caring about the looks of others that she was getting and looked in the direction where Artemis with an angry look on her face.

After a while, she realizes what she did and her face immediately blush from her neck to her face.

'Ughhh…!!!'

Artemis opens the search function on the car. "Look for the nearest apartment" Artemis spoke, she slows down and part at the side of the road.

Within a second, a hologram appeared to her side and saw the street name and the exterior of the apartment. Looking at the street name, Artemis got out of the car and turn left.

[Where are you going? You're not on the campus] Agent 3L1 asks Artemis when he saw that Artemis isn't on the campus but there's someone on the campus that he doesn't know.

How does Agent 3L1 know? Because the chip has a tracker implanted in it.

"Going to buy an apartment" Artemis respond, she turns around and saw a two-story simple modern white apartment.
