38 Favor

As soon as Aaron saw this, he bent low, ready to jump in any which way in case he came under attack.

All the instincts that had saved his life numerous times in the forest came back to him, causing him to accurately assess all of his surroundings, list down all the escape path and also form a strategy of attack and defense.

Woof did the same – it bent and tensed its muscles, with its fangs exposed, ready to pounce, or run.

Yet, it seemed that all of their caution wasn't necessary, as the woman smiled and said, "You there! You must be the one who's AA connected to the hub and sent the report, right?"

Aaron took a moment to respond, but when he nodded, the woman clapped her hands in delight and said, "Well then, why are you still on that tree? Come on down! I'm pretty harmless, you know."

This coming from a woman who had just killed a man in cold blood right after capturing him, and having him in his grasp.

Aaron didn't know all the particulars of the situation, but one thing was clear – this woman could kill without hesitation, and it was always safer to be careful when dealing with someone like that.

Yet, everything she had done so far had only helped them, so, while still constantly looking around and making sure that he wasn't being surrounded in the same way as the cloaked man had been, Aaron jumped down from the tree, while Woof followed with its eyes darting between the Eagle and the woman.

As for the sickly man, it had already dismissed him as a threat, as he looked so weak that he might collapse and die at any moment.

As the woman saw them approach, she smiled even wider.

Turning to her side, she fondly patted the neck of the Eagle again and said, "Great work, Daisy! When we're back in a City, I'll definitely take you to the bird spa you love so much! You deserve it! Now go get some rest…"

Saying so, the woman made a Core appear between the knuckles of her middle and ring finger, following which the huge Eagle disappeared.

The Core was only present for a very brief moment of time, so the only thing that Aaron noticed was that it had a different color to the one he had.

Well, he had already heard that the level of the Core was supposed to be upgraded if one wanted to have a higher level Tera, and if this wasn't a high-level Tera, then Aaron didn't know what was.

Assessing its combat abilities, he realize that its most effective weapon must be the Thunderbolt, whose most impressive feature was its accuracy, which had allowed it to strike the deformed Tera's head from such a great distance.

As for the attack with its feater, it wasn't as impressive as the thunderbolt, but Aaron could guess that it probably took less effort because, after all, they were just feathers on its body.

Yet, again, these were also highly accurate, which meant that either this Tera was born with the talent of high accuracy, which would be pretty strange, or it had had immense amounts of practice that had allowed it to get this good.

Whatever the case, Aaron knew that this wasn't an opponent that they could beat right now, no matter how much he thought about it.

As for running away… Well, they were experts at it, so he was pretty sure that they could escape with their lives even if these advantages of the Tera were still present.

However, right after it vanished, he felt like smacking his head, as he had forgotten to ask AA to scan it to tell him what it was.

It couldn't be helped… till now, most of his attention had been on what to do to keep them safe, so he had no time to remember this magical tool which he could use to find out all the specific details.

Deciding firmly to keep it in mind and never lose an opportunity again, Aaron waited for the woman to speak, after glancing at Edmond and making sure that he was alright.

Because he was in the pit, he didn't really know exactly what had happened outside, but he had witnessed that woman coming from the sky.

Right now, the Bewitching Fox was in his hands, and it was nuzzling its head against his palm in an adorable fashion, while Edmond groaned due to the pain from his broken ankles.

"That's a great bond they have there. Is he your friend?"

Seeing that same sight, the woman walked forward to Aaron as she said this, to which he thought for a bit and replied, "We travel together."

This made the woman nod and say, "Alright. First, let's get to the town so that your… colleague, can be treated. Broken bones can get nasty if they aren't tended to as soon as possible. You've done me a huge favor, here, so I definitely owe you. But we can talk later. What do you say?"

Aaron was about to nod, but he remembered something.

"No. His father is in the prison that is close to here. He needs to be rescued first. That is why we came here in the first place."

This made the woman raise her eyebrow again, before she turned back to look at the sickly man.

Because they were standing close to each other, Aaron noticed more details about her – she had lots of brown hair which cascaded down her shoulders, and on a spot right below her fingers, on the back of her palm, there was an image of an eagle much like the one that Aaron had just seen.

As for the sickly man, he was wearing a casual black shirt and pants, which was actually a new attire that Aaron was seeing for the first time.

On top of these, he was also wearing a grey cloak, and on this cloak, Aaron finally noticed that there was a badge, of sorts.

It was a silver four-pointed star, with the words "Bryarmont Town Mayor" emblazoned in gold.

As Aaron read them and understood who this man was, he found it hard to believe that someone who was supposed to be very powerful looked like this.

Yet, remembering the sight of that Gorilla, he threw out all judgments and remembered the paramount law of the jungle that nothing should be judged by its appearance.

As soon as the woman looked at him, the man, who actually looked quite young, said, "I'll find out about it, Miss. What is the name of his father?"

Aaron didn't know the answer to this, so he walked to the pit, where Edmond looked up.

He had been hearing everything, and he would have spoken out if Aaron hadn't mentioned his father before.

As he saw Aaron looking down at him, he answered, "My father's name is Nicholas Greenway."

The sickly man heard it, too.

However, instead of leaving to find details, he closed his eyes, which made Aaron realize that he must be using his AA.

After a few seconds, he opened his mouth and said, "Nicholas Greenway. Imprisoned for opposing the orders of the City Lord."

"Oh? The City Lord of which City?"

"Dreadvale City, Miss."

For some reason, this name made a deep frown appear on the woman's face.

Turning to Edmond, she asked, "Hey, you. Was your family torn apart suddenly in some unexplainable way?"

This sentence made both Aaron and Edmond gape at her in shock.

How had she been able to guess that?

As Edmond finally nodded in response, the woman furrowed her eyebrows in anger and spoke in a voice filled with vexation.

"That as*hole. He said that he would stop, but he must have gotten bored again."
