2 Start of the Apocalypse (2)

After going into the alley, Eric looked back and saw the fiery eyes of the monster looking back at him.

He then took a deep breath and calmly looked at the monster.

Surprisingly, Eric stayed calm even at this situation where the world is being destroyed by dog- like monsters.

Maybe it was because he experienced working at a young age and supported his family which is not normal for an 18- year old man. His mindset is way ahead of his age.

'This is not the time to panic. I need to find my parents and know what is the current situation of this city'

Thinking of his goal, Eric then walked away from the monster and moved towards the center of the alley.

While walking, Eric noticed someone eyeing him.

Of course Eric expected it

'I'm sure that I am not the only one who thought of hiding here. There must be some people thinking of it too'

Eric stopped walking and said" Who is there?"

tak tak tak tak

A series of hurried footsteps

At that time, Eric's ear twitched slightly. His muscles tensed and his hands were formed into a fist, ready to engage at any moment.

Eric heard the sound of the wind parting ways.

"There you are" Eric mumbled softly.

Just before the dagger behind him, pierces his head, Eric moved.

He turned around and grabbed the hand that was holding the dagger,while the other hand that was formed into a fist, was aimed right at the stomach.

Before he could punch, Eric was shocked

"A woman?"

Knowing her gender, He released the hand he was grabbing.

"Yeah, so what?" The woman mockingly questioned.

Eric stepped back with his eyes still looking at the woman.

He would never hurt a woman unless it is necessary. But that was not what he was shocked about.

'Such strength' at that time when he grabbed the woman's slender hand, he could feel her strength. He was even having a hard time stopping the dagger from piercing him.

'Just how could a woman have such strength?'

"Are you one of them?" The woman asked angrily.

"?"The was a big question mark on Eric's head

"Who's them?" Eric asked

Realizing that he was not one of 'them', the woman held his hand and ran towards another alley.

She then sat down and took a deep breath

"You can talk. You don't seem to be one of them"

"Who.."

"Zombies" The woman interjected

"Z...Zombies?" 'Now I'm confused' First was the monster, then these 'zombies'.

Unknowingly, he laughed" This really is the Apocalypse"

"Hmm? Why are you laughing" The woman was confused.

"I'm finally free" Because of the debt he had been working non-stop for his family. Now, what is the use of that damn debt? The world he knew collapsed right in front of his eyes. He didn't even know if the man who they were indebt with was still alive!

While thinking, Eric heard a grumbling noise. The woman in front of him shivered.

"Let's go!" The woman panicked. However, Eric had another thought in mind.

"Don't" Eric stopped the woman.

"Everytime you see that, would you always run?" Eric asked

The woman unhesitatingly nodded. "You have the strength, yet you are afraid of them?" Eruc threw another question which made the woman realize something. 'Why did I run? Is it brcause of their dead-like appearance? No'

"THEY KILLED MY FAMIL..!" The woman shouted.

Eric quickly covered her mouth and whispered with determination "Then destroy them". He was also a bit depressed for his mom and dad after he knew that there are zombies walking around the streets now. What's more, he doesn't even know how it works! Do they get infected when bitten?

Eric's guess right now is that there is a virus being released just like an ordinary apocalypse setting and those who has low immunity would get infected.

'What if my mom and dad would be like them, walking around the streets, looking like a dead man?' Eric couldn't answer.

At that brief moment, The woman suddenly calmed down

"..."

"Ok" It took some before the woman nodded. They then walked back and heard the grumbling sound again

"Here it comes!" Eric mumbled. The woman took a deep breath and asked " What's your name?"

Eric cooly replied "Eric. What's your name?"

"Elaine" The woman whispered

"Okay. Elaine, are you ready?" Eric asked but he already knew the woman's reply. The woman nodded.

After their talk, silence pervaded the area. Only the grumbling noise was heard.

In front of them was a man with a tattered shirt and blood all over his head. His veins were popping out. His eyes were bulging like they were ready to get out at any given time.

Elaine and Eric quickly ram towards the zombie. Eric ran towards the left side of the zombie while Elaine ran towards the right.

Erick punched the zombie in the head. The zombie looked back at him. Eric gulped. It was truly a nasty sight. While the zombie was focused on Eric, Elaine brandished her dagger. With that, the first zombie was killed.

The two of them then quickly ran towards the alley and hunted more of them.

'This really feels like a game' Eric thought. While he grabs the attention of the zombie, Elaine would deal the killing blow similar to how players get the aggro of monsters while DPSers attack furiously. Eric knew this because he used to worked in an internet cafe.

Sitting on the floor of the alley, Eric casually asked Elaine like they knew each other for a long time "By the way how did you get so strong?"
