3 An Unexpected Meeting

For years, the Vujisic family has been renown for their abilities to raise and prosper in various fields. The main feature that stood out amongst the Vujisics were the fact that all their heirs were alphas.

There was never once the notion or thought of anyone in the family tree being born an omega. At the very least, if a beta was born, their names would still be jotted down in the long branch list in the family tree.

Omegas who were born were instantly tossed out. It didn't matter from which line of the family they were from, the Vujisic tolerated no omegas. I never once thought that I would one day be subjected to such a thing.

***

I stared at the high gates of the Vujisic household before wiping the tears off with the back of my hand.

It didn't matter what I thought. Nor did it matter that I was born this way... Just being an omega was a disgrace.

I turned away and quickly stepped into the cab that my mother had called for me prior my departure. We had said our goodbyes after she handed me the bank book and my brother handed me a case which he told me to use during an emergency.

"Where to?"

"The airport." I said as the cab driver nodded and shifted the car into motion.

I glanced out the windows at the house that I had lived in for the 16 years of my life. It felt like something was missing, yet I felt relieved at the same time.

As the house faded from view, I finally glanced at my hands. It was damp and clammy. I touched my face and scurried to grab my handkerchief.

When had I started crying?

***

I sat in my seat on the plane as I gazed out the window. The sound of children wailing and people talking filled the atmosphere. It was stuffy and I felt as if I were suffocating.

"Are you alright?" the person on my left asked me as I glanced at their face.

"Me? I'm fine." I said, brushing them off as I continued to stare out the window.

"Damn omega brat." the person muttered beneath their breath as my eyes widened and I felt a surge of rage.

I wanted to lash out and punch them for being so judgemental when another voice spoke up. Not to mention no one had ever had the nerve to say that to my face before. It was always words that I'm so lucky because I was an alpha. How could he tell?

"Excuse me sir, you're in my seat."

"What?! This is my seat! ... ... Oh. Sorry. Looks like my seat is at the front." the person next to me said, staring at his plane ticket before bowing apologetically and moving to the front as he glared at me.

The stranger who had an expressionless face merely nodded at me and sat down beside me. The rage in my chest settled down as I then shifted my gaze back to the window.

Within another few minutes, the plane was ready for take off. I leaned my head back against my seat as I felt nauseous and the sound of the crying babies made my head spin.

"Are you alright?" the stranger asked as I peeked at him from the corner of my eyes.

"I'm... f.." Before I could finish my sentence, he stuffed something in my mouth and placed his headphones over my ears.

I glanced at him with confusion but he merely smiled at me before opening a book to read.

That was... unexpected.

The stranger had hair that looked black with hints of blue. His eyes were a beautiful amber colour and the smile he had for that brief moment caught me off-guard.

He had seemed like a cold person from the start, but... perhaps I was wrong.

I leaned back against my headrest as I swirled the candy in my mouth with my tongue. It was a lemon candy with a sweet and salty combination.

I've never eaten it before, but it tasted rather nice. The soft orchestral music playing in the headphones also helped calm my nerves as the sound of the wailing children were drowned out.

My vision slowly clouded as I drifted off to sleep. The last thought I had before the world went dark was someone with long red hair and beautiful onyx eyes.

***

"Pardon me. Sir? We've arrived. Are you up?" A person asked as I felt my body being shaken.

I blinked my eyes open haphazardly as I tried to rid the bleariness away. Amber eyes stared back at me as I found myself face to face with the stranger from earlier.

"H-huh... Uh... I... I'm awake now." I stuttered as I leaned too far back that I hit my head against the window.

"Oh, apologies. I guess I was too close. My name is Amber. I uh... the stewardess thought we were travelling together since I told them to let you rest for awhile but uh... We need to leave now because there is another crew that needs to use the plane." Amber said as he held my hand and pulled me towards him as he rubbed at the part I bumped against the window.

"I... I'm fine. You can leave now. I'll be right behind you." I said as I swatted his hands off of me.

Amber stared at me for awhile with a certain look on his face which I couldn't distinguish what he was thinking. He then stood up as he took out the luggages out of the overhead compartment.

"Ah, I can take that myself." I insisted as I stood up to grab my luggage.

Amber merely glanced in my direction and gave me a grin before walking off towards the exit of the plane.

"Ah! Hey! Wait! Give that back!"

The chase was short lived as he waited for me at a souvenir shop nearby the entryway of the boarding gate.

"What's with the glare?" Amber asked in a teasing manner making my blood begin to boil.

"Well, I sure don't enjoy being teased by someone I just met." I said with a huff as I grabbed the handle of my luggage bag, pulling it away from him.

For someone with a mature and serious facial feature, he sure acts the opposite.

"Ah, well. My apologies. I just didn't feel comfortable letting you stay on board with those people there."

"Huh??? What... do you mean?" I asked confused.

"You know that guy from earlier who was in my seat? Well, seems like he gave a tip or something of the sorts to the flight attendant. I happened to notice that while you were asleep..."

"Err... What?"

"Well, let's just say, that's why I didn't think it was right to leave you there alone. Don't want to hurt what's left of my conscience." Amber said before giving me a grin.

"Well. Thanks, I guess. But it's fine now. I'll be leaving."

"Eh?! Err... hold on."

"... Is there something you want to add?" I asked slightly irked.

He was beginning to get on my nerves. However, it was refreshing compared to the times when I had to entertain all those people back at... Nevermind.

"Can you hold out your hand?"

"Err... okay?" I replied hesitantly.

A small piece of paper was left in my hand as I stared at it blankly. I glanced back up at Amber with a blank expression, wondering what it was for when I saw his cheeks slightly tinted.

"Err... that's my number. Call me anytime. I could show you around. Well... that's if you want to that is! But uh... Well... I guess I'll see you around? M-maybe we can grab coffee sometime?" Amber said, his voice was a little pitchy and his words quick but I wasn't really paying attention to that.

His expression was quite... adorable.

"Er... Well, I appreciate the thought but I barely know yo--?!" My words were cut short when I felt the same feeling from yesterday.

My feet staggered and my breathing grew heavy. It felt hard to breathe, let alone think. My eyes were growing watery, yet the thing that managed to catch my eyes were... Red hair... and... onyx eyes...

"R-Red..." I said as I stretched out for him, my voice shaky as I worried whether he could hear me.

Red didn't seem to notice as he disappeared in the crowd. My heart sank but the feeling didn't go away.

"A-are you okay?" Amber asked as he held me by my waist, supporting me as I suddenly fell limply against him.

It was as if all the strength in my body dissipated.

This... might be bad...

"I-I'm fine... let me go..." I said weakly as I struggled to stand, yet my legs stumbled and I fell against his chest again.

No... My head... I can't think clearly...

"You don't look fine... do you want me to... err... ermm... the smell is so... sweet...." Amber said as I noticed his cheeks growing redder and his breathing heavier.

No... not him... I want...

"What are you doing?!" a voice rang out, sending shivers down my spine.

I blinked my eyes rapidly to find the source if the voice. It could only be...

Red!
