After Worlds End

If I had to guess, I would imagine the most commonly asked question nowadays is probably something along the lines of

"Where were you the day the world ended?".

Well to answer that question, really thinking hard about it, Wednesday, it was a completely typical Wednesday while I was walking back from a store I just bought lunch from.

I was midway through eating my sandwich, when everything went white, followed by a crackling noise that pierced my ears.

After probably 20 seconds the white followed by the crackling began to fade.

What I saw once I could see again was hard to even comprehend, The street I was standing in seemed like it had aged hundreds of years.

I just stood there completely and utterly shocked, accidentally saying out loud "Surely this can't be real, I mean no way, this kind of thing only happens in movies, right?".

Just after I had finished my sentence I sharply turned around as I heard someone beginning to speak.

"I can hardly believe it myself" an old guy said, this was the same old guy that was walking along behind me after I had left the store.

My mind began racing, imagining all the possibilities of what this could be happening.

"You're the same person that left the supermarket right after I did, aren't you?" I asked the old man,

"Yes i do believe so, why might you ask?" he replied in an almost suspicious tone,

"Well I just had to double check I wasn't dreaming before i get too excited".

I could feel adrenaline pumping throughout my whole body, making me so dizzy i could hardly stand.

It had finally, after so many nights of dreaming come true, something that I could really get excited for.
