17 The Hellfire Core & Talk Of Revenge
Back to the present Argus, Quasar, Ash, and Lilly have been on the road for 2 days now.
Their resting for the night sitting next to a campfire talking.
Argus has been messing with a piece of paper. After a while of drawing runes into it's finally done now all that's needed is a blood seal from everyone who wants to use it. So he takes a Knife and cuts his finger then he smears it on a the paper. He passes it to Quasar and he explains what it does.
"So if we put our blood on this Ash will be able to use telepathy to talk to us?" Quasar asks.
"Yep." Argus says. So Quasar slices his finger and wipes it on the paper. Then he passes it to Ash. She does the same but reacts to the pain. "What about me?" Lilly asks. "If you want to go for it." Argus says and makes Ash hand over the knife and talisman.
Lilly cuts her finger. "Ow" she cries out. Then smears it on the paper. Then she hands it to Argus.
"One last step and you'll be able to talk." He says and infuses his magic in it turning it into a talisman.
He hands it to Ash and she tries using it.
"Hello?" She says shyly. "So that's what you sound like." Quasar says out loud.
"Yeah… Thank you Argus for helping me again…" Ash says embarrassed.
"No problem it'd be a pain to try to understand your hand gestures." He says.
"Ash your voice is exactly what I imagined." Lilly said. "Um thanks Lilly." Ash says.
"Now if I could use magic I'd be ready to fight." Ash says looking at the ground. "Right I got something though I'm not sure if you can use it." Argus says.
"What is it?" She asks. "Its this." Argus says pulling the Hellfire core out of a gate. "You pulled that out of that Alvon guy right?" Ash asks.
"Correct if I can install it you'd be able to use his magic." Argus says. "Install?" Quasar asks. "Yep." Argus says. "But you'd have to… Wait you not going to mess with her eternal body are you?" Quasar asks.
"It's up to her." Argus says. "I'll do it I need to be powerful." Ash says. "Wait Ash if Argus messes it up he could cripple you." Quasar says.
"Who do you think planted it in Alvon. Though I haven't done it in a while to a human." Argus says. "You know there's good money in it right?" Quasar says. "I thought you were against it?" Argus says. "I am but I've heard of specialists who makes a ton of money doing that."
"Well I had my potion business going so I never needed money. So what do you say Ash?" Argus asks.
"I'll do it." She says. "Okay lay down. Quasar I need you to make sure nothing attacks us." They both say okay. "he holds his right hand over her heart and his left over her brain. "Show me the eternal body separate Mind and body and interject my presences allow me to edit this person's soul."
A light glows around Ash and then her consciousness and Argus is floating in a white room with Ash's body floating. "Why why am I N.N.Naked?" She asks. Argus sighs and walks over to her body. He uses a wind strike and cuts a hole in her chest and he places the Hellfire core into her body. And then they snap back to reality.
Ash feels a terrible pain where Argus made the cut. "Ow that hurts." She says. "Yeah within the week you should be healed I'd give you a potion if I had one though it wouldn't help since the damage was done to your eternal body." Argus says.
"Okay." She says in pain. "Give your body some time to adjust to that core and then you'll be able to use Hellfire magic." He says. "Right." She says.
They all go to sleep for the night and the next morning Ash wakes up before everyone else and sneaks off to practice her magic.
She holds out her hand and feeds mana to it and then a fire lights in her palm. "Sweet." She thinks to herself. Suddenly she's interrupted by Argus. "Why'd you wake up so early?" Ash asks him
"Like I said last night I need to make some healing potions. The question is why did you wake up so early?" He asks back.
"I..I just want to use magic… it's always been my dream…" she says downcast.
"Your such a kid." Argus says. "HEY I'm an adult okay I would like some respect. OK." She says annoyed.
Argus laughs. "Man your easy to mess with AHAHAH." Ash stares at him. "How'd you get so powerful?" She asks.
"You think I'm powerful…? Thanks. In the fight with Alvon I honestly didn't think I could've won without you." Argus says with a honest tone. Ash just looks at him surprised. "But you still won with your magic." She says.
"I did but Hellfire is the most dangerous type of fire magic. In the wrong hands It can be used like it was." He says. "You trust me that much?" She asks.
"You had my back with Alvon I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Hell for all I know you'll probably use it for revenge." He says.
Ash's eyes go wide. "...How did.. You…"
"You have the same fire in your eyes as me. Some will say never be fueled by revenge but what do they know. Nothing is sweeter than watching that person slowly die." Argus says.
Ash is a little taken back by the nuns at the church. They always said to forgive that holding a grudge will only hurt you in the end. But do they know what it's like maybe some do but most of them was born in to the church. Even the great Quasar got revenge. So what's so wrong with it? Ash thought so much about that when she was young.
"Seems I nailed it." Argus says. "Yes... You understand the pain caused by people." She says. "That I do."
"Anyways your practicing magic?" He asks. "Yes I am." She says. "I'll show you something cool you can do." He says. Then he uses a ninja hand art and makes two illusion of himself and sends them into a tree and when they hit they explode into wind shredding the tree trunk.
"That was just an illusion though?" She says. "Yep but add a little mana and you get a magic projectile." He says.
"But that's a basic Art so how I've never seen anyone do that. Is that a unique magic?" She asks amazed.
"No magic is unique somewhere along the way someone else has done that. But if it never gets passed down then it's forgotten until someone else discovers it again." Argus says.
"Uh... Can you teach me?" She asks. "Ahahahaha" Argus laughs and walks away from her. "Hey wait!" She runs after him.
Meanwhile is Eris Cyrus is visiting a cell in the dungeon of the castle. "
"Hey Lisa you still alive?" He asks. The once healthy girl with the bright blue eyes that shined is now a skinny bag of bones with dull eyes. "Cy….r..us." She squeaks out. "Yes Lisa what is it." He says. "B..u.r...n I..n H.e..ll"
"Cute" he says. "Today I brought you a present." He tosses her a piece of stale bread. She immediately grabs it and scarfs it. "See Lisa i'm a nice person. Maybe in another 5 years I'll bring you something to drink." He says walking away.
"Lord Cyrus don't you think this is a little cruel?" A knight asks. "She's immortal she'll die then she'll be back so no its not." Cyrus says. "But…" the Knight gets cut off. "You wanna join her?" Cyrus asks. The knight gulps and stays silent.
As Lisa lays there in her cell she wishes Cyrus would just die. But of course that's not going to happen. She wonders if Argus is like Cyrus hoping he'll save her again.
"Achoo" Argus sneezes.
"God bless." Quasar says.
"Quasar? do people really call you that?" Argus asks. "Yes that's my name." He says. "But it's so hard to say you know what I'll just call you Nova." Argus says.
"Please show me respect." Quasar says. "Nova is way better." Ash says. "Yeah." Lilly adds. "Ugh fine call me Nova then" Quasar says.
"Will do." Everyone says. And Nova Sighs.
They travel for another 3 uneventful weeks within that time Ash learned how to integrate her Hellfire into Ninja Arts. Then they come to a small village at the base of the mountain to Eris. They head for a shop to buy some winter coats.
They talk to the shopkeeper running the store. "We don't serve demi's here." He says. Argus walks up to him to intimidate the shopkeeper. He sees Argus's crimson eyes. "A a a L..Ich." He says.
"Yeah so how about serving us." Argus says intimidating the man. "He gulps "Right I'll get some coats for you all." He says and runs to the back. After a few mins he returns with coats for everyone. "Thanks" Argus says pulling out a gold bar from a gate and sets it in front of the man who stares astonished.
After leaving the store Nova says. "Argus you should be careful doing that."
"I can't hide my eye color if people know about liches then it can't be helped." Argus says.
"I suppose." Nova says. "Thank you Argus." Lilly says smiling. "No worries."
Now they have a 5 day hike up the mountain to Eris.
