11 Veco

With an irritated look, the man turned around and took the piping hot grilled chicken. Once he had the plate on hand his own cravings almost took over as he took in the delicious fragrance that wafted in the surrounding.

Gluttony flashed in his eyes as he began to drool.

"No no, I must not."

He managed to retain clarity and get back to what he was planning to do in the first place.

"I bet you'd wake up on this." The man held the plate close to Ren's face. The aroma assaulted him from all directions and just like how the man wanted, Ren began to respond to the tasty smell. He started to sniff around, trying to figure out the origin of the wonderful aroma. Eyes closed, he sniffed his way through until he stopped right in front of the grilled chicken. He was already half way from sitting up and finally he opened his eyes.

*Munch*

"Hey! What?! Get off kid!" Ren planted his teeth on one of the chicken legs. He forgot everything by now, all he wanted to do was to eat, and survive. If the so-called 'dangerous entity' does kill him, atleast he would die with something to brag about. 'I stole a chicken from a dinosaur.' He would take pride in what he just did and spread word about it in the afterlife.

The mam placed both hands on the whole chicken. The plate? It was thrown neatly on the table the moment Ren commited his valiant deed. He yanked the whole chicken away from Ren but the leg did not survive.

The man lost his bearing as he seemed to have yanked the chicken too hard. He fell.

*boom*

A mini earthquake occured inside the dining room. The things in the room were affected. Everything started to fall down as well. But just before they hit the floor, water appeared and broke their fall. Ren levitated as well. The fall startled him, he didn't notice the man at all. All he saw was the food in front of him. That's why after experiencing the mini earthquake he came back to his senses.

He started to pay attention to the event that just transpired and those that happened before he passed out. He recalled shouting in fear because he saw a talking hill-like man that he thought was a dinosaur. Looking at the gigantic body sprawled on the floor, he started to piece everything together.

"Hill man equals dangerous entity. I screamed at hill man and then collapsed from fear but mostly because of hunger. Then hill man went to get the food and used that to jolt me awake. I selfishly ate the food because I wasn't thinking straight. He had to pull it off me then he fell."

"My fault..."

Ren pieced it all together and arrived at a conclusion. Whatever this dangerous entity did, it was to keep him alive. He would have been a goner when he drowned. Mysteriously he was still alive. Who else could be the reason he is still breathing? Isn't it the dangerous entity? Since the system holds this man in a high position, he must be powerful and he must have been the one who saved him from drowning.

Suddenly the thoughts popped up in his mind-

"If he was powerful, how could he fall like that? Are my teeth made of steel that it made him exert effort?"

Ren threw those useless thoughts away. It was partially his fault anyway and the man looked amiable enough. Maybe he's onto something here. He convinced himself.

The man got up slowly. It looked like a struggle. Finally he got back on his feet. The chicken was safely lodged between his hands. Can't say the same for his robes. At the center, the chest area, was stained.

"Kid, why did you have to do that." The man looked pitiful.

Ren felt embarassed for the blunder that he did so he answered with a question of his own.

"Who are you?"

"I am... Veco, a soulspace guardian." He thumped his chest in pride. Little did he know he looked extremely ridiculous. He used the fist which was holding on the chicken. Now the stain on his robes became larger. Despite knowing this, Ren was going to be tight-lipped about it. He knows exactly how degrading it. It was like kicking down someone who reached a high point in life. The man was proud of being a 'soulspace guardian', if he interrupted him by saying 'Uhm, wrong hand.' He might not live to eat another chicken leg ever again.

"Oh! You are?!" Ren tried to fake an impressed look but his face was saying otherwise. His eyebrow was jumping up involuntarily suggesting that he knows nothing about the topic at all.

The man caught the signs and sighed.

"You are a mortal kid after all."

"You should eat." The man placed the chicken back on the plate as he pulled a chair and sat. He beckoned Ren to take a sit on the opposite chair. Ren took his sit. He couldn't help but notice the furnitures on the floor. He remembered that when they fell, water sprouted from the floor and caught all of the furniture. Even he was caught by the water. Ren placed his hand on this rear, trying to feel the wet sensation that came after being soaked. None. He was dry as a desert. He did feel the water, yes. And it was like any other water but they did not leave any residue behind.

After Ren sat, he let go of any manners and went straight for the food. The other chicken leg he had was now bones on his plate. He ravenously devoured the other leg in seconds. Soon, the whole plate was cleaned.

"How did you get in here? Do you know a man going by the name of Leum? What happened during the war against Hel?" The man started asking questionsn one after another. Things Ren didn't know until a particular word hit him.

"Hel?" Ren immediately thought about the game he was playing.

"What kind of world did I reincarnated into?"
