1 Chapter 1

"I'm almost there I just need to sprint faster!"

I accidentally shoved an old lady while I was running. She didn't really seem bothered by it, but actually she told me to go and not to worry about it. Maybe she knew why I was in such a hurry.

I continued sprinting and I finally reached my destination. I couldn't stop panting. I was so tired, but I'm glad I made it on time.

Knock! Knock!

I knocked on the front door of my best friends' house. Her name is Sophie. This is kinda cliche like in those cartoons and movies but she's my childhood friend. We've been friends ever since... well, since we've been born. Our parents are really close friends and went to the same schools all their life.

Sophie is a childhood friend I care about a lot.

She finally opened the door.

"Oh you're just in time Luke!" She jumped and gave me a big hug.

"Happy Birthday Sophie!!" I gave her a huge hug back. It was her birthday, June 20th. She finally turned 16. Just like me.

You know... I kinda wish I wasn't here... Yeah Sophie is my best friend and all, and I celebrate all of her birthdays like she does for me, but... My mom... She's-

"Hurry up and come inside! Stop daydreaming Luke!" Sophie interrupted me while I was thinking to myself.

She grabbed my arm and yanked me inside closing the door shut behind me. We both sat down on her sofa and her dad came in the living room with some snacks. Doritos and sprite, what a combination. He didn't really say anything to me, he just smiled and left.

"Sooooo Lukeee. Are you excited for our junior year in highschool soon??" Sophie had this big smile on her face. The smile she always had when we were younger. I took a moment to think about what she asked. I don't mind school, I just suck with grades. I'm pretty sure a lot of high schoolers can relate to me.

"Umm, I guess I'm ready. How about you?"

She let out a chuckle. "Oh that's great! I'm so ready too!! We're gonna do so much stuff together. Start our own club, join other clubs, help teachers with work, give speeches, maybe join student council!" Sophie already had all these things she wants to do in the future, but what about me...? What do I want in my future?

I always wondered how Sophie can never be sad. She's always positive and never negative. It doesn't really make me angry because I'm not that type of person, but more like... confused.

"Hey Sophie, how come you're always smiling everyday like nothing wrong goes on in your life. You act like there's nothing bad to think about and you always have your future planned out ahead of you... It's like... I want to be so much like you, but I can't keep up..." I finally spoke up about the feelings I kept inside for a while.

She stopped smiling. She knew this conversation just got real. "Luke... If only you knew... I- I'm able to keep on smiling because I'm not the type of person to focus on one thing that's bothering me because if I do I'll lose track of my future and I'll start fading into the past. When you move on and keep being happy and not caring for what brings you down... You can do anything."

What a speech... Sophie would work well as a student council president.

"Wow... Thanks for the talk Sophie." I smiled and gave her another hug.

"Umm Luke..." Sophie got my attention.

Suddenly the room felt ominous and chilly.

"What the- What's this feeling. Why is is so cold... Why is it uneasy...?" I look at Sophie and see her pointing at something behind me.

I turned around and froze.

I was frozen in fear.

What was it...

It...

It had 3 heads and 4 arms, 8 skinny legs, all covered with blood, and it was staring right at us.
