49 Chapter49: Unexpected Disaster

After we arrived at the Earth Boars territory, I left Alice and Clara-san to search around the area for wolves while also trying to prevent the Earth Boars from noticing me. Alice and Clara-san said that it's easy to spot the wolves if some of the Earth Boars starts to panic, they said it was a high chance that the Earth Boars had noticed the wolves if that happens.

Thinking back, I'm worried about leaving Alice and Clara-san alone inside the forest. It's probably dangerous leaving two girls alone in this dangerous place.

[ I wonder how they're doing...? ] I muttered to myself.

I really want Alice to get along with Clara-san as Clara-san might also become our future subordinate for this job. It will be nice to have someone that can teach Alice magic, and I'm also thinking if she could teach us the basic writing of this world. She could be helpful for us too, Marinda-san said that there are monsters that can only be defeated by magic and not by physical force, so it would be really helpful and reassuring to have her in our party.

Having these thoughts, I realize I was walking for almost half an hour but I still haven't found anything, only Earth Boars that camouflages themselves around the area.

[ hmm... ] I started thinking about what should I do than just wait and walk around.

[ I guess that should do it... ]

I decided to just climb the large tree I saw in front of me to see a much better view. I jumped at one of the branches of the tree then I continued to keep jumping at the branches till I reached the top.

[ haah... that was disappointing... ]

I was expecting to finally see some wolves, but all I can see below are trees, rocks, and some Earth Boars.

[ Where are you Haruto-kun!!! ] I heard Clara-san's voice calling me from the distance.

[ ...what? ]

[ O-onii-chan!!! ] then it was Alice's voice which I heard shouting my name next.

[ Alice! Clara-san! ] I shouted back, worried about what might have happened.

No voice responded to answer, but only silence.

[ I think I should run fast! ]

They're probably in danger, and now I regret leaving them Alone inside a forest full of dangerous creatures.

I jumped from the top of the tree then I came running fast towards their voices as soon as I landed. I kept my pace fast, not worrying about what might happen to me as I might not be able to control it properly and dirt might get in my eyes, but I still just kept running fast.

[ Alice! Clara-san! ]

I shouted their names but there was still no response. I'm getting more and more nervous as the seconds past.

I finally arrived at the place where I left them, but not a single trace of them was left.

[ Alice! Clara-san! ]

[ O-onii-chan!!! ] I finally heard Alice's voice again, I followed it without a second thought.

[ Alice! ]

I ran towards the bunch of trees in front of me and leaped on top of big rocks and giant roots I come across to.

[ Alice! ] I called Alice's name again to make sure they're still safe.

[ Onii-chan! ] Alice replied, and her voice was close.

I was finally able to get outside the large forest and saw Alice holding Carla-san's body on the ground with tears in her eyes while being cornered and surrounded by a pack of wolves.

[ tsk! ]

[ O-onii-chan! ] Alice noticed me and she immediately called my name.

I immediate ran towards them and jumped over the wolves.

[ Ha...Haruto-kun... ] said Clara-san in a low and tiny voice. She's obviously injured, her arm has a big wound and is spilling out blood. and her clothes are dyed in red. it was her exact look the first time I saw her.

[ Grrr!!! ] the wolves were surprised by my sudden appearance and they got intimidated so they backed up a little.

[ Alice! behind my back! ]

[ ye-yes! ] Alice immediately followed and went behind my back.

[ Grrr!!! Bark! Wooooof!!! ] The wolves then started barking and howling.

[ Onii-chan! ]

One of the wolves then attacked me straight towards my face. I immediately caught its head with my hand and I crushed it on the ground. I then carried Clara-san's body.

[ hold tight Clara-san! ]

I jumped again on top of the wolves that are still surrounding us despite one of them being killed in the most gruesome way.

I decided to run away immediately while carrying Alice and Clara-san. The wolves are still angrily following us and I noticed that their numbers are also increasing fast.

[ Onii-chan! they're catching up! ]

[ is that so? close your eyes and hold tight, Alice! ] Alice tightened her hold to me.

I then ran faster, losing the wolves behind us. We arrived at the road after a few seconds of running.

I stopped, then I laid Clara-san's body on the ground.

[ Alice, look behind us, see if they are still following us. ]

[ ...ye-yes! ] Alice looked at Clara-san first still with tears in her eyes before replying.

I tore a piece of my clothes and I wrapped it on Clara-san's wound.

[ ...Ha-Haruto-kun... ] Clara-san opened her eyes.

[ don't worry Clara-san, we'll get you to a hospital. ]

[ onii-chan! the wolves! they followed our scents! ]

[ tsk! how did this happen!? ]

This was supposed to be a happy trip. This thing happening right now didn't even come across my mind when I decided to take this task.

[ ...onii-chan... ]

[ Alice! protect Clara-san, I'll deal with these stupid wolves. ]

[ ... o-okay ...be-becareful, onii-chan... ]

[ I'll be fine. ]

I then ran towards the wolves, they are close so they noticed me immediately. Some of them stopped, but some of them still continued running towards me.

Two of them jumped straight at me with their mouths wide open. Their large fangs are exposed and can be seen clearly. But all of it seems to be happening slowly in my eyes.

[ this was supposed to be a nice trip! ]

I dodge one of them and I punch the other turning it to pieces.

Seeing one of them killed, the wolves focused their intent on me.

One of them bit my leg from behind and another bit me in my arm. I caught the one in my arm and I threw it on a tree, then I kicked the other one in my leg away.

Just after I defeated two, four of them attack at the same time in all direction. I guarded my self with my two arms, I ended up getting bitten simultaneously.

[ -th-this is harder than I thought it would be. ]

I opened my arms and I swing it towards a large tree, banging two wolves on it causing them to let go of my arms.

I thought they will finally be scared and flee but they only got angrier.

[ haah... if that is it's going to be... ]

I finally gave up and decided to kill all of them so it will finally be over, and we'll be able to take Clara-san back to the city.

[ Come at me! ]
