15 Chapter15: First Mission

It was still morning when I went to the Adventurers Guild.

I took Alice with me, she said that she can help me because she knows every part of the city, even outside, and that can help me locate which part outside of the city should I go to, to hunt specific monsters.

I asked her if I can get a map instead, but she told me that only nobles and royalties are allowed to hold a map, so merchants and adventurers are really having a hard time figuring out where they should go, and if they ever been caught holding one, soldiers will immediately take all their possessions and they will be taken to prison.

Well, I guess taking Alice with me is the only choice, but what if she gets endangered by a monster? well, maybe I just need to make sure she won't.

[ ano... can you please give me the most suitable mission for a hunter at my rank? ] I asked Diana-san at the counter.

I went to the Mission Board earlier, but I can't seem to read any of the posters, I asked Alice if she can read it for me but she told me that she can't read too.

[ hmm... the most suitable for a hunter huh? ] she leaves the counter and walked towards the large tasks board.

[ yes, this one is the most suitable for you Haruto-san. It's just hunting wild Earth Boars, normally this task requires 2 - 3 Rank-F adventurers to properly hunt one of them, but with your skills, I don't think it would be hard for you, especially because you'll be using a bow as your weapon. ] is she really sure I can take down a boar that normally needs three people to take down? isn't that just an exaggeration? I mean... I'm just one person, well... I have Alice with me but she's not to be counted as a fighting force.

I then left the counter.

I walk to where Alice is, she is sitting at the corner of the room just waiting for me to finish my business with Diana-san.

[ are you done onii-san? ] Alice-chan stood up as she saw me walking towards her and asked me that.

[ yes, we'll now go outside the city, our targets are three... what did she call it? umm... grass boar?? no... I think it was... Earth boar? ] I almost forgot the name of the monster we're going to hunt almost immediately.

[ and Diana-san said it's located at the east, outside the city... do you know where is it's exact location? ] I asked Alice because she said that she knows all kinds of monsters that live outside the city and their locations.

Apparently, she said that she was really a big fan of adventurers and she was really curious about what kind of monsters the adventurers fight outside the city, she gained knowledge just by listening to the stories of adventurers she sees whenever she visits outside the Guild, until she memorized almost all the monsters and their location outside the city, she sometimes even try to see the monsters herself by sneaking outside the city, I tried to ask her if it was dangerous, but she only said that "they won't attack you if they don't see you, and if they do, you just need to run fast" well, I know she's a really fast runner but to outran monsters? isn't she really talented?

[ Un! I know where they live, I will guide you there onii-san! ] Alice said enthusiastically.

We finally arrive at our destination outside the city. We are now inside a small forest, I'm carrying Alice on my shoulder because she can't properly see all the area around the forest with the bushes taller than her are blocking her sight.

[ oh! there it is onii-san. ] I can't see where Alice pointed at but I know which direction.

[ okay, is it just ahead? ]

I look around the area, looking for a tall tree that I can climb onto.

[ okay then, let's change position. ] I put her down.

[ okay climb into my back, we're gonna go on top of that tree. ] I carried her on my back this time.

I climbed on top of the tree while carrying Alice behind my back.

After I was finally able to go to the top, I settled Alice on one of the branches while I sit on another.

[ there onii-san. ] Alice pointed a little far below us. What I saw was six large boars with different colors. 2 of them has green, 3 has gray, and 1 brown, they also have large horns on top of their heads.

[ why do they have different colors...? ] I asked Alice.

[ yes, it's because they use those colors to disguise themselves as trees, rocks or even the dirt itself. ] Ohh... so they use it to camouflage.

I took one arrow from the quiver I made myself, I also made the arrows.

[ hmm... about 20 meters... ]

I pulled the arrow and the string of the bow. I can properly see them from this location, and my eyes are really sharp, considering I trained archery when I was little.

I aimed at the brown one.

[ the smallest comes first... ]

Swwooooshhh!!!

I shot its eyes.

I thought that it will not die yet after I shot it in its eyes but... the arrow pierced its head instead and it was instantly killed.

the arrow I shot came out so fast and like a bullet, it didn't even mind the wind blowing at its direction, I don't know if that's because of my strength or is it because of the bow itself.

I looked at the direction of the Earth Boars again.

[ how did they multiplied!? ] they are also now panicking and running at every direction

I quickly took two arrows inside my quiver and shot it at the same time.

The arrows I shot again pierced the head of two other boars.

I feel like I'm using a sniper instead of a bow... but still, this bow is better.

[ huu... that was easy... I guess that's mission complete? ]

I looked behind me and saw Alice staring at me with her eyes and mouth wide open.
