12 Entering the Plains
Leylin just went to sleep early while the whole travelling party are enjoying their feast.
The whole travelling party got up early to enter the plains. The carriages keep on their journey with a heavy atmosphere. The whole place filled dead rotting corpses or decayed bones on the way.
Some of the youths especially the ladies feels nauseous while the others are on the edge keeps on looking on the surroundings hoping that they will not be attacked.
Leylin and George`s group are already doing each of their roles duties making sure their carriage defense is securely tight even though they are also getting scared from the danger their feeling from their surroundings.
Leylin:"Guys just try to relax all of your bodies are so stiff when the beasts attack it will hinder your movements. Hey why don`t you guys tell some of funny stories you guys knows."
The group nod and tried to relax as Leylin suggested since they know it true. The atmoshpere within Leylin and George group lighten up with their stories and jokes with the mood of everyone lighten up the guarding youths now starting to adapt on their surroundings making their senses react much faster.
The whole travelling party gets attacked by different beasts that they have never faces before causing the youths of the travelling party to lose quite a lot of members some gets seriously injured and some light scratches on their bodies.
Leylin and George group only suffer light scratches due to their tight defense on their carriage.
The travelling carriages already reach halfway of the plains but as they continue the beasts that keep on attacking them are getting stronger which giving them a harder time to defend of kill it.
Because of the constant attack of the beasts the faces of the youths are getting gloomier and some already lost their courage to reach their destination the youths are already scared even to get out of their respective carriages due to constant attacked of beasts from the plains some carriage are already destroyed making the youths of the destroyed carriage to enter other carriages making the space within the carriages so tight.
Some of the youths are already asking to join and enter the carriage of some strong groups especially George group since the group only suffer light scratches even with the constant attacks to their group.
George and his group with their uncontrollable hormones only chooses ladies to enter their carriage much to the dismay of others.
The travelling carriages decides to stop and rest on a flat area to give some of the youths some time to breathe some fresh air outside of their carriage.
The other males keep on watching their carriage while Leylin watch the surroundings for possible dangers which was approved by the group since the group suffer less injuries due to Leylin`s constant watch on their surroundings while storing information of plants to animals that survive on this land.
George:"Hey! Leylin! It`s time to get on the carriage!" George`s loud shout came from the distance.
Leylin:"Got it!"
Just at that moment, Ava`s scanner shows red dots running to their location. Leylin started running to their group while Ava showed the beasts characteristics and its weaknesses that are on its way with its projection.
[Direwolf: A kind of wolf inhabiting the Great Plains of Death. Savage and cruel, they mostly hunt in packs. Their strength is estimated to be around 2-3, agility around 3-4, and vitality around 3-4.]
With Leylin`s agility he reaches George and their group while saying in low toned:"We have company. There`s direwolves rushing towards our location!"
Leylin with George and his group are already going back to their carriage while George looked around at the surrounding crowd and saw that most of the youths were still minding their own business. The entire process was done swiftly and silently although some of the youths noticed something was wrong and followed their retreat. The moment their group reach their carriage the ladies pass their weapons to the males that are already circling their carriage to guard their area.
Although their group is tense but with their preparation and the trust they have with each other of the group they maintain to their spot and and readying their weapons for the incoming enemies.
*Bang* *Bang*
A loud piercing gong sounded out, "The Lord Magus has sensed danger! All acolytes are to retreat back to the horse carriages!" One of the black robed men`s voice sounded out, thundering in all the acolytes ears.
The acolytes who were resting on the grass were all stunned into silence, before they all swarmed into motion, fleeing crazily for the horse carriages.
"Aaaaaaaaawoooooooooooooo!"
At this moment, a long and drawn out howl sounded out, filled with ruthless bloodlust. All around, the wolf howls sounded; since the prey had discovered their stealth attack, they would just charge forth!
Streak after streak of black shadowy wolves charged after the fleeing acolytes; they were about 2-3 meters long, and their speed were such that a shimmering black afterimage followed them.
"Direwolf pack!" One of the acolytes at the back cried out in despair.
Just as he cried out, a black shadow pounced on to her,the large impack causing this young girl to fall to the ground. In the next instant, the merciless huge jaw filled with sharp teeth bit down viciously, tearing out her throat as she dies with a despairing look on her face.
Some of the fleeing acolytes were attracted by the cries and turned their heads to look before they cried out in alarm as they witnessed the grisly sight and hastened their pace.
Another young girl whose face was full of tears was running and shouting: "Mummy! Mummy! I want my mummy...!"
Leylin:"These pitiful youngsters, they are already beginning to lose it?"
Leylin and their group watched as the other acolytes running to their own carriages to hide.
*Swoosh* *Swoosh*
Right at this point in time, seven dark shadows dashed out from the horse carriages, each wielding a huge sword the size of a man, which slashed through the air as they charged towards the direwolf pack.
George:"It`s the black-robed knights! They`re attacking!" while Leylin just watched them starting to slaughter the pack of wolves.
Even with the black-robed knights at the front there are still wolves that pass through them which starting to attacked the scared acolytes.
George started to intercept the wolves that are going to their groups location while Leylin started killing wolves on his own with his crossbow.
With George intercepting the wolves at the front and Leylin`s high-accuracy shooting there is only few that reached to the other youths which with the group helping each other to fend off the wolves there were no deaths or major injuries that happened.
In contrast, many of the other acolytes had been kill or injured, for example, Leylin saw Ourin`s little party is now missing two youths, while the remaining few had all sustained some form of injuries. It seemed like they had been just lucky enough to escape with their lives.
"Alright! We`ve rescued all the ones who can be rescued!"Angelo`s body was covered with blood as he returned to the defensive formation.
"Aowuuuu!" The few acolytes that had fallen earlier had perished by now, and with the scent of blood in the air, the direwolves went berserk and charged savagely towards the horse carriages.
"Here they come! Everyone be careful! We will try our best to protect you, but there are only so many of us and we will definitely miss some. At that point, you will have to fight for you lives!" Angelo`s loud voice rang out, as he waved his huge sword, standing in the front lines together with the other knights.
As the huge blade cleaved down, the direwolf charging in front had a hole torn in its chest, causing it to roll back as blood sprayed into the air. For a time, the dozen or so black figures stood like an immovable fortress, blocking the direwolves.
George:"We should fight as well! We need to help the Knights and reduce their load!" Under George`s leadership, all the men took up their swords and followed behind the Knights, attacking the ferocious direwolf pack from the side!
"Aowuuu!"The direwolf howls were unceasing and Leylin keep on shooting his crossbow nonstop each bolt hitting and passing through the eyes of the wolves.
After Leylin felt tired he retreated to the carriage and received a bottle from a girl with trembling hands and began to drink with the big gulps.
"Aowuuuu!" With the non-stop howling from the head direwolf hidden amidst the direwolf pack, the direwolf pack`s charge became more aggressive. The ones that appeared now were the giant bodyguard direwolves. The throat of the front most acolyte was torn out, and he toppled over.
"We can`t wait any longer! Activate your secret skill!" The black robe Angelo shouted. At that moment, the black robes released crackling sounds as their muscles continuously expanded. At first glance, their overgrown muscles made them look like small giants.
Leylin:"Ava record each of the Knights secret skill and simulate it to enhance their skills then transfer it to my memory.
As for the black-robed Knights who had activated their secret skill, not only did their muscle strengths increase, their defenses have increased. The giant bodyguard direwolves still needed to be avoided, but the Knights used their giant swords to hack at the forehead of the normal direwolves despite being cut by their claws.
But with the increase in giant bodyguard direwolves, a direwolf had finally managed to slip through a gap and charge into the unprepared acolytes.
