2 Prologue

As he woke up, he found himself staring at a ceiling that seemed strange. It wasn't like the ceilings in his hospital room he was used to.

Shifting his attention, he noticed a coffee table and realized he was lying on a couch. He got up from the couch and looked around the room. Everything seemed pretty normal. Honestly, that just made him more confused. If he was really dead, he thought he might see a blank white space or maybe some pearly gates, or even demons torturing him. This situation was strange; maybe he was stuck in some kind of in-between place, like purgatory.

Before he could get too lost in his thoughts, a door on the left opened, and a woman walked in. She was pale-skinned with long light blue hair. Her ears were pointed, and she was wearing a very revealing white dress.

"Hello Eden, I see you are awake."

"Am I dead, right?" He thought he was dead, but he was not sure. The last thing he remembered doing was watching an animal documentary in the hospital when it and the TV turned off, the lights flashed, and then he started seizing up.

"Yes, Eden, you died because of a tornado that caused a power outage. The backup generator in the hospital was outdated and malfunctions caused you to die."

Eden smiled a bit. He thought that there must be other people who died, but Eden had been literally sick of life, so he was kind of thankful that the people of Unity Hospital were such cheapskates.

"So am I going upstairs or downstairs?" After a bit of a pause, "If you would like, you could go to a realm that the people of your world could consider heaven, or you could be sent to a parallel world."

"Parallel world, you mean like the Multiverse, a new universe is created with every action we make sort of thing?"

"Kind of. It would be hard to explain this entirely without it taking more time than you have been alive, but the world I would send you to is like your earth enough that you could go your entire life without knowing the difference."

After hearing that, the idea of going to another world did seem a bit more appealing, but he still felt a bit on the fence.

"So why would I get reincarnated instead of just going to heaven? Eternal life sounds pretty great. Also, life kind of sucks."

"Well Eden, I can give you a life as good as heaven, and also heaven is so boring. You've already been stuck in bed your whole life. Don't you actually want to live a little?"

That was a very good point she made. After saying that, she continued, "Also, I want to help you. You've been screwed over by fate so far, so I'll make your new life as entertaining for you as possible, and I'll give you many gifts to make that possible. Everything you've ever wanted."

"Fine, I feel like you would not let me say no even if I tried, so what now?"

"Nothing, just let your consciousness fade and have a good next life."

Hearing that, Eden felt a very familiar lightheadedness. Letting it take him, he laid down on the couch. But before leaving, he did have one more question.

"By the way, who are you?"

"Oh, you can call me F for Fate."

Before being able to fully comprehend her statement, he went unconscious.
