24 Xin Wugi

The entire capital was filled with corpses. Some corpses so deformed that one can't even identify them. Few unlucky people didn't even have a corpse as their entire physical existence was wiped out from reality due to the shock wave created by the battle between tree and gray sword.

The political forces outside the capital only came to know of the incident in the imperial capital after a day. Most of the spies and subordinates of great clans and foreign empires were wiped out in the incident itself even though many of them were not even in the first zone. Those who survived took a long time to barely able to use the message-transmission jade token.

The incident proved the ancient saying correct: A fire in the city gates is also a calamity for the fish in the moat!

The first clan to act is Xin Clan's patriarch.

Xin Wugi used a high-grade teleportation portal to teleport directly to the capital. Teleportation portals are a luxury which evens the rich can rarely afford.

When Lin Li and Zhen Han arrived at the capital they used holy beast for transportation rather than teleportation portal. The cost required for teleporting to such great distances is far too costly.

The Skyrise Empire was far too vast. It consisted of 108 states with the smallest state having an area of 5 million sq.km. Such area was vast even for cultivators much less mortals.

While cultivators who have achieved Divine Manifestation or above could teleport, the distance they could travel was far too low. Not to mention the energy required for teleportation took a heavy toll o the cultivators.

But the current situation in the Imperial Capital demanded the use of costly teleportation portals!

"The prosperity of my clan can be extended for thousands of years if I can get the core. While the core of the vein would not be as good as having the entire spiritual vein, it is much better than what the great clans have. I might even find opportunities for a breakthrough" Xin Wugi thought.

He has read the message saying the imperial palace island was wiped but only after seeing it with his own eyes could he believe the reality.

Xin Wugi has hoped to collect treasures from the first zone now that the emperor was dead. Alas, for him the spirit stones mine and herb garden were fully wiped out along with the island.

"Heavens, please have pity on me. Don't let the core of spiritual vein be destroyed," Xin Wugi was depressed after seeing the state of spirit stone mine.

He dived into the sea where the imperial island was originally located.

"Ahh! The core of spiritual vein is there!" Xin Wugi rejoiced. He increased his speed as he dived in further.

"What is that?" Xin Wugi noticed a corpse of a woman lying down next to the core of spiritual vein. The core of spiritual vein was in the shape of a large white circular orb.

The woman has a breathtaking beauty even after her death. If it was other times, Xin Wugi might have appreciated her beauty but the current situation made him wary of the woman and the core.

There was no sign of life from the woman but Xin Wugi was not able to judge how she died. There were no blood stains or any injuries. She was just lying on the seabed next to the core of spiritual vein. Her skin was somewhat pale but Xin Wugi wasn't able to judge anything from that. It didn't seem she was poisoned.

"Who is she? Did she come here to take away the spirit core just like me?" Xin Wugi scanned the area with his divine perception but failed. The laws in the first zone were still chaotic due to the remnant shock waves.

"Is there a danger nearby?" Xin Wugi didn't dare to move any forward. He was at peak of Divine King realm! Just a step from World King realm!

The fear of death is stronger in those who have lived long!

"No! There are no rewards without any risk. If I delay than other old monsters might catch up. Even the surrounding empires would dispatch forces."

Xin Wugi clenched his teeth and moved forward.

He has been in the Divine King realm from last ten thousand years. If he couldn't find any opportunities for breakthrough then he would never reach World King Realm. He was able to reach the peak stage from late-stage thanks to the heavenly phenomenon three years ago but that was the end of it.

"I can't place my hopes on a miracle. I am the master of my own destiny," Xin Wugi moved closer to the corpse and core.

Just as he reached next to the core, his eyes suddenly opened wide.

The woman has opened her eyes!

She is alive?!

A blood field surrounded Xin Wugi the next moment.

"A blood field?"

Xin Wugi was not able to move. His entire body was feeling a terrible pressure from the blood field surrounding him.

The next second, his eyes almost popped out. The core of spiritual vein disappeared! It was as if there was no core, to begin with.

Xin Wugi has no time to think as the pressure from blood field started increasing. The woman arrived next to him and placed both her hands on his face.

Xin Wugi was able to see her eyes, and he would have screamed if his body was able to follow his will.

There was no pupil in the woman's eye! Instead, there was a small tree inside her iris!
