44 All He Wants...

"You have to be extra proficient and power the projection array separately so that we can enjoy the curses directed at us!" Lin Xinu berated the elder responsible for array management in the pagoda.

The elder didn't know how to reply to the remarks of clan patriarch. He felt he was wronged for no fault of his.

"How was I supposed to know the screen would be used for cursing?" The elder bitterly thought but he didn't dare say it out loud afraid the patriarch would punish him.

The other elders were shocked in silence as well. They have never experienced so many shocks like they experienced today. Some of them even pinched themselves just to confirm everything was a reality and not some bad nightmare. The subsequent pain made them realize everything was real.

The family members of Zhen Han were shocked by the performance of Zhen Han as well even though they knew about the existence of violet bead. The only one who wasn't surprised was Zhen Han's mother.

Lin Xinu deactivated the screen projection array as he was afraid Zhen Han would make more accusations on his way back. Even though he is the patriarch of one of the most powerful clans in Skyrise Empire and has lived for thousands of years, he felt his experience didn't amount to anything. A kid wet behind his ears has shattered every fact he knows, and if that wasn't enough the kid even made him almost die from anger.

Lin Xinu gave a deep sigh after seeing the downcast expression on the members of the younger generation. He could see the performance of the kid has become a mental demon of a sort for the geniuses of his clan. From the young age they have believed themselves to be infallible and extremely talented but now they felt they were trash. Their Dao Heart was wavering, and if this continued they will no longer be able to live up to their potential. The mental bearings and the confidence plays a very important role in the life of a cultivator, especially young cultivators. If one lose confidence then the entire talent and efforts would result in nothing because at the end everything depends on the heart.

"Talent is not everything in cultivation. Even the greatest talents would fail if they can't handle temporary setbacks. You are the hope of my clan but yet you are now feeling downcast by the performance of a kid? " Lin Xinu loudly said to the younger generation.

The younger generation didn't speak. They knew what the patriarch said was correct but the setback was still a setback. How can some words of comfort and inspiration help them?

" Are your Dao Heart so shallow that you will feel jealous by your brother?" Lin Xinu loudly asked. He was already annoyed by the happenings in the pagoda but yet he tried his best to cheer the younger generation. Now, he was no longer able to handle such spoiled brats seeing his words fell on deaf ears. He was the clan patriarch and not some babysitter.

"Sir patriarch, he is not our brother! He is of Zhen clan!" Few members of the younger generation said.

"Shut up. I can't believe how narrow-minded you all are. That kid might be surnamed Zhen but half the blood inside him belong to Lin clan! Lin Li is the daughter of our clan so her son is the son of our clan as well!" Lin Xinu said in a fierce voice. His expression showed he would kill anyone who dared to say otherwise.

Lin Li was surprised by the words of clan patriarch. For the last two years she was treated as if she was a foreigner in the clan but now she was considered as a daughter. Once again, she couldn't help but think how quickly the will of people changes.

Lin Li wanted to say something but her father, Lin Feng, stopped her. Lin Feng knew the humiliations her daughter and her family have suffered but he knew they were now the things of the past. Zhen Han has shown how valuable he could be to the clan which is why the clan would now treat him and his family well.

Basically, everyone knew the position Lin Li held in Zhen Han's heart. The words spoken by the patriarch weren't words said out of emotions but well thought out words so that Lin Li's inner frustration against the clan could subsidize.

"Your son was able to do what I failed as your father," Lin Feng said with a sigh. He has tried his best to make sure her daughter lived well but his efforts failed due to the pressure of other elders. The other elders wanted to use Zhen family members for their benefits and hence constantly remind them of their place as refugees.

"No, father. We wouldn't even have shelter if not for you and brother," Lin Li said barely able to control her tears. The tears were of joy now that she and her family would no longer be treated as remnants of the imperial family. They could now live with dignity and respect...

Zhen Han stepped outside of Awakening Pagoda. He was surprised to see almost everyone staring at him as if he was some ghost. He didn't think much of their reactions and moved towards his parents.

Lin Li opened her arms to him. There was a smile on her face.

"Mom!" Zhen Han shouted as he jumped in her arms. He was only a five-year-old so his anger against the 'corruption' of clan quickly subsidized seeing the smile on his mother's face.

"You did well," Lin Li said after planting a kiss on his cheeks.

"Thanks! I could have done better but---" Zhen Han wanted to continue but his mother put her hand on his mouth to prevent him from saying further. She didn't want to see the patriarch and elders vomiting blood again.

"Han'er, you have made me proud as it is. I couldn't have been happier," She said with a content voice.

Zhen Han didn't say anything further and tightly hugged her. All he wants is to see his mother happy...
