Limiter

When breakfast was over Alice approached me with two different items. The first was a form of identification. When I looked at it the information on it seemed strange, as if it was not quite right.

Name: Sebastian Blackwater

Race: black cat

Age: 16 sex: M

Next to the information was a picture of me. I looked at the information for a moment before looking over at Elizabeth. She simply nodded.

The second item was actually a plain silver ring. I only looked at it for a moment before placing it on the ring finger of my left hand. I could only assume it was meant to be a wedding ring.

As I did so, I noticed Serena's face had turned a deep shade of crimson, and Elizabeth had chuckled softly.

"The ring functions to give you a false identity. The details match what your ID says, but the stats will be updated as yours increase, though the numbers will not be accurate as well. After all, normal people cannot gain a new stat point every day. Because of this, the ring has a function to limit your attributes while you wear it, to match the information on it."

I nodded. This ring was actually a powerful treasure. The aura it gave off was stronger than that of my clothes, but far less than my weapon.

"Of course you can always turn off the limiter, but I would suggest not doing so unless it is an emergency."

I nodded and pulled up my status screen. There were two windows available. The first was my actual stats, the second were those of the fake identity. I looked at the second one.

Name: Sebastian Blackwater

Race: black cat

Age: 16 sex: M

Trait: Powerul Mind

Class: Claw Fighter

Hp: 80 Mp 100

Strength: 7(+3)=10

Dexterity: 6(+3)=9

Constitution: 6(+3)=9

Intelligence: 10

Wisdom: 8(+3)=11

Charisma: 11(+3)=14

abilities:

[Iron Skin]

I looked at the information for a moment. The stats were what my current stats actually were. Even including the meal I had just eaten. However most of my abilities were gone. It wasn't just that they did not show up, I could actually not feel them at all. My only question is why [Powerful Mind] was my trait.

Elizabeth seemed to know what I was thinking. "I do not know what trait and skill the limiter gave you. But I can assume from your look that the trait must be something you did not expect. The limiter cannot give you something you don't have, and the only ability you have that is also a trait is [Powerful Mind]."

"So [Powerful Mind] Is a trait, and not a skill?" Well I did recieve it as a reward from the system, so I can understand it to a point.

Elizabeth shook her head. "A person can only have a single trait. [Powerful mind] is usually a trait, a very rare one at that.. but the system can do whatever it wants. I would not think too much about it."

I nodded. At the same time Serena wiped her mouth and stood up. "Let's go Sebastian, we do not want to be late."

I stood up and thanked Elizabeth for the food. Alice quickly cleared my dishes, but I was not truly paying attention to her actions. I was captivated by the appearance of Serena which I had not really been paying attention to.

She wore a uniform much like my own, but instead of pants she wore a skirt that ended only a couple of inches below her butt. Her blonde hair stood in stark contrast to the black of the uniform, and drew more attention to it.

She wore combat boots that were similiar to my own, but they had a more feminine appeal, which included thick heals. The result was an exotic appearance, one that was extremely attractive.

I unconsciously let out a soft whistle when I gazed at her, which caused her to turn and glare at me. I shrugged. "You look hot"

Her face grew crimson, and she scoffed. But as she turned away I could see a smile forming on her face. I did not understand people, and women were worse than most.

She led me to what appeared to be an underground garage, and there was already a driver waiting with a vehicle. It was a black sedan with tinted windows. It looked like a rather luxuries car and I could only sigh at how well off this family seemed to be.

Of course if you thought about it, this family also provided jobs and shelter for all of their employees. So while they were rather extravagant with their spending, they also provided stability for those less fortunate that had caught their attention. And in this world, that stability was priceless.

Unlike most of the employees I had seen, the driver actually appeared to be completely human. He was a middle aged man. After some conversation I found that he was actually Alice's father, and that when Elizabeth had taken her in, she had been kind enough to take him in as well.

As he was not a main servant he did not have a place to stay in the main house, but he did have a small room in the underground garage that suited his solo lifestyle. He was a rather simple man, and seemed happy with his life.

This all set well with me. A noble family that actually looked out for the commoners was rare, and my opinion of this family had gone up by a lot.
