Getting ready for departure

When inwoke up I found that the girls breathing had become much better than it had been the night before. She was still unconcious, but a vast improvement could be seen all over her body. The once crispy body had become a deep shade of pink, as if she had only suffered from a bad sunburn.

I nodded as I looked at her. The vials had obviously contained something extraordinary to bring about such drastic changes to her. My mind felt a deep sense of greed as I thought about it. If I had such a great healing ability what would I need to fear in this world?

With that thought in mind I returned to the goblins camp. I dug through the refuse, and once again found the small silver box that contained the vials. I looked upon my treasure with a sense of greed, and hesitated for only a moment before I drank one of the vials.

I prayed to whatever gods existed in this world to get an amazing ability from the strange elixir. Not long after I recieved a notification from the system.

<Drank Ogre's Blood Elixir. All stats increased by one.>

The sinking feeling in my stomach from not recieving an ability was quickly replaced by a sense of elation. All stats increased by one was a huge thing. With anticipation I opened my status.

All of my stats had gone up by one, including my mental scores. I could not help but look at the elixir in shock. This was really good stuff. I quickly forgot my earlier greed about gaining some sort of regeneration ability. That would far to over powered anyways.

I thought for a moment of keeping the last elixir for myself. The added stats were tempting, but ultimately the girl took priority in my mind. I could eventually gain stats, but if the girl died I would lose a precious connection to the human world. More importantly it would be much more difficult to gain information about this new world without her.

With that thought in mind I quickly grabbed the last remaining elixir and headed back to the girl I had rescued. To my surprise she was awake when I found her. She had not moved, but her eyes were open. She looked at me rather fearfully as I approached. But her eyes soon went soft as she saw my appearance.

In my head I could only laugh. Who could be scared of a kitten after all? I jumped into her lap and began to purr. The girl let out a small giggle as I did that. With this body, humans were rather easy to manipulate I thought.

As the girl grew comfortable with me, I gently placed the Elixir into her hand. The girl exclaimed in shock at the sight. She seemed hesitant at first. but as I purred and gently nudged her hand her reluctance disappeared.

She took the cork out of the vials, much easier than I had by the way, and sniffed the liquid inside. Her soft, yet beautiful voice filled the air as she exclaimed. "An ogre's blood elixir! now where did you find such an amazing thing my little friend?"

I only purred in response as I laid down in her lap. The girl gently stroked my fur as she downed the elixir. I closed my eyes in satisfaction. With this, hopefully my escape from this God forsaken place could truly begin.

We rested for the rest of the day. With each passing moment the girl seemed to be doing better. Her breathing had become normal, and even her skin returned to what I assumed was its normal healthy state.

The next morning she was well enough to walk. I guided her to the goblins campsite, where we were greated with a putrid stench, and a pile of refuse and waste. The girls fair skin turned a shade of green by the smell, but I guided her towards where I had found the Elixir.

The girl was mostly reluctant, but when she saw the treasures hidden in the waste she exclaimed in shock. There were swords and armor of every variety, though none seemed to be of a very high quality. There was also a random assortment of gems and coins, as well as many other shiny items. It seemed that the goblins only collected things that shined.

The girl held back her disgust as she started to pick through the garbage heap like collection. I watched in interest as she selected items. Surprisingly she completly ignored the coins and gems. I could only guess she was putting survival before personal wealth as she began her selection of equipment.

I silented nodded at her determination. Survival was far more important than riches. I watched as she selected her items. The first item she selected was a leather armor. The armor looked as if it had seen better days, but seemed to be mostly intact. After that she found an average looking bow and a couple quivers of arrows. She spent quite a lot of time going through the arrows, and eventually filled an entire quiver with usable arrows.

Finally she selected a short sword. She did not seem confident when she selected the weapon, not nearly as confident as she had been with the bow. Never the less she strapped it onto a belt she had found. With this it appeared her selection of equipment was complete.

She spared the gold and jewels a longing glance, as if she wanted to take them with her. She ultimately let out a desperate sigh as she turned away.

Before leaving she looked back at me, but by that time I was already sniffing around the pile. I had yet to devour anything today, and with the goblins [eat anything] ability all of these treasures were stats waiting for me to absorb.

I sniffed around the pile until something odd tickled my nose. In front of me was a rather small pouch. It did not look large enough to hold anything, but I could sense a strange power coming from it.

Suddenly the system sent me a notification I was not expecting.

<Users actions have created a skill. [Treasure sense lvl 1] >

[Treasure sense] lvl 1

You have a keen eye for treasure. So much so that you can sense when a magical item is near. This ability grows stronger the more it is used.

I gasped in surprise at the notification. It appeared absorbed abilities was not the only for me to learn new things. I could also gain skills by practice or chance. I smiled as I realized this, but did not forget to devour the small pouch in front of me.

<User absorbed Sack of holding, obtained skill [Extra-dimensional space]>

[Extra dimensional space]

A sub space the user can hold items. The amount of space the item can hold is directly proportional to the users intelligent stat -5. One point= 1 cubic yard.

My greed once again got the better of me as I read the notification. With the ability in mind I focused on absorbing the gold coins and gems into my space.

I could feel my small amount of mana deplete by half as the treasures entered my space. Soon I got the notification that it was full, and I could only look on in despair at the remaining coins and gems on the floor.

I sighed as I turned away from the rubbish pile. Only to see the girl looking at me with wide eyes.
