1 Steve

A man named Steve Derren walked up to the bar and sat down. With a sigh, he signaled to the bartender to give him his usual. It was another Thursday night of doing boring office work. He could not believe how tedious paperwork could be. What he really needed was some action in his life. Maybe an adventure deep in an undiscovered jungle, or a journey across the vast oceans of Earth. What he hadn't been expecting was an adventure in space.

As soon as he saw the flyer for NASA asking for a volunteer to travel to an uncharted planet that had the possibility of being inhabitable, he grabbed it off the wall and immediately called the number on the paper.

After a single ring, NASA answered and accepted him, along with the rest of the volunteer crew of five people, and sent him the address to their headquarters.

Stumbling his way through the bustling NASA headquarters building, Steve finally found himself in the initiation room for prospective astronauts and space explorers. Steve was told that there would be a simple physical test to see how fit he was for the trip. In preparation, he drank half a dozen cups of complimentary coffee to efficiently energize himself. Soon, he had signed a multitude of papers, signing away his boring life in exchange for a life of adventure in the great unknown of the final frontier.
