50 Ch. 50: Epilogue

As Tang Hongyu and Chen Fan bantered through the telepathy, Jiang Churan contemplated her mother's words carefully. When she thought about Chen Fan, she couldn't help but feel odd.

'Did I dream of him getting more handsome last night?'

The image of Chen Fan with a supermodel look flashed in her mind. However, she quickly shook off this thought.

'That's just a dream. Chen Fan's look is just slightly above average. Not a handsome supermodel. Even if he is handsome, his background is…' Her knee-jerk thought trailed off.

She paused as she remembered her mother's words. 'Still, a loyal man who will stay with me through thick and thin, happiness and sadness, healthy and sick…'

Her mother's words floated in her mind. She couldn't help but think that having such a loyal man would be romantic.

Previously, Jiang Churan only considered a man with good status and background as someone worthy to date. This caused her to look down on Chen Fan. However, her thoughts changed after listening to her mother.

What's a man with good status and background if he would only cause grief to her?

On the other hand, did having a man with a low status but caring and loving her unconditionally sound good, right?

'Is he such a dependable and loyal man like what mom said?'

Jiang Churan was intrigued by Chen Fan's personality. She also began thinking of Chen Fan as boyfriend material.

Suddenly, Jiang Churan remembered how she'd treated Chen Fan in the past. Guilt returned to her heart with vengeance.

'I'm such a fool…' Jiang Churan lamented inwardly. But then, she corrected herself, 'No, I still have a chance to mend our relationship.'

Perhaps it looked strange that Jiang Churan changed her mind quickly. However, there were stranger things in reality.

In addition, Jiang Churan was a teenager and currently mentally unstable because of a shock from her father's unpleasant attitude and her mother's influence. It was understandable that she changed her mind so soon.

The mother and daughter pair were immersed in this wonderful moment, but it was ruined by Jiang Haishan's voice.

"Wife, come here! I'm going out! Help me prepare myself to be presentable! I can't look bad in front of my coworkers!"

Jiang Churan's body trembled in Tang Hongyu's embrace. Her father's image had been ruined this morning, so she couldn't help but feel scared and insecure around him. She wanted to stay in her mother's embrace that gave her warmth and safety.

At the same time, Jiang Churan was also annoyed with her father because her wonderful moment with her mother was ruined, but her fear of her father overwhelmed her annoyance.

Her mind was thrown into turmoil. She could only hug her mother stiffly.

While Jiang Churan was having inner turmoil, Tang Hongyu was plain irritated. Although Tang Hongyu also felt irritated, her irritation wasn't for Jiang Haishan.

Why would she feel irritated at what's technically a corpse?

Her irritation was for the real perpetrator controlling Jiang Haishan's body.

'Way to ruin the moment, darling.'

Tang Hongyu deadpanned through her telepathic link with Chen Fan. Her irritation was projected clearly.

In return, Chen Fan sent Tang Hongyu an amused feeling. Following this, Tang Hongyu received his telepathic message.

'Well, this would make Jiang Haishan more hateful, right? This would make smearing mud on his name more fun, right? This would help you get Jiang Churan to your side when you finally get divorced, right? Don't worry, everything is according to plan…'

Tang Hongyu was speechless. She couldn't help but pity anyone who pissed off her man because of how vindictive he was…

'Anyway, go. You need to keep your cover. It'd be weird if you keep ignoring the call.'

'Got it.' Tang Hongyu inwardly nodded and sighed. Then, she stopped embracing her daughter.

"All right, I'll go to your father. Don't think too much about him."

Jiang Churan nodded. Then, she followed behind her mother. When they got out of the kitchen, they did not see Jiang Haishan in the dining room nor did they see him in the living room.

"Looks like he's in the master bedroom. I'll go there," Tang Hongyu said to her daughter and then went upstairs.

After listening to her mother, Jiang Churan decided to go to her room. After the unpleasant encounter with Jiang Haishan, she was not in the mood to do anything outside.

She wanted to have peace. Her room was the only place that provided her with the peace she needed.

As Jiang Churan headed to her bedroom, her mind went to Chen Fan. She couldn't help but wonder what he was doing right now.

And speaking of Chen Fan, right then, he was enjoying a warm breakfast in the luxurious dining room of his villa while controlling Jiang Haishan's body and chatting with Tang Hongyu through the telepathic link.

At the same time, he was also conversing with the caretaker of the villa, Auntie Liu, the same caretaker that Chen Fan remembered from the comic. She only made a short appearance, so like any typical background character, she was easy to forget. If it wasn't for his eidetic memory and perfect recall, Chen Fan probably wouldn't have paid his attention to this woman.

In any case, multitasking was a simple thing for him, after all.

A few days had passed since Chen Fan controlled Jiang Haishan's body to make the atmosphere in the Jiang family unpleasant. Or at least, it was uncomfortable for Jiang Churan. Slowly but surely, Chen Fan escalated the tension.

Nowadays, Jiang Churan is attached to Tang Hongyu when in the home. She is like a little duckling that follows the mother duck everywhere.

About this change, Tang Hongyu had mixed feelings. She was both happy and concerned: happy because her bond with her daughter became closer but concerned because her daughter became more depressed.

Tang Hongyu had consulted Chen Fan on this matter. As a mother who worries about her daughter, she can't bear to see Jiang Churan's mental state degenerating every day. Chen Fan had to calm her down and convince her that she had to be more patient, mostly after blowing off her mind with intense love-making so she was more receptive to his advice.

Just to let you know, even though only a few days had passed for everyone else in that world, a few months had gone by for Chen Fan and Tang Hongyu. Without fail, Chen Fan stopped by Tang Hongyu's room every night to mess with her body and they would continue in the universe within the Cosmic Brick, staying over for one or two months for each hour passed each night during the past few days.

Of course, Tang Hongyu was convinced and obeyed Chen Fan's words. She decided to be a pillar of support for Jiang Churan while letting Jiang Haishan, controlled by Chen Fan, escalate the tension to the boiling point.

As Jiang Churan's mental condition steadily went down, Chen Fan was waiting for a certain event to advance the plan to the next stage…

That event was when Jiang Churan got hurt in the 'past' life of the original protagonist. However, she didn't experience that pain and grief in the second life of the original protagonist because she was saved by him.

If everything goes Chen Fan's way, Jiang Churan will fall for him hard and become extremely dependent on him. He could conquer her heart thoroughly!

He also didn't tell Tang Hongyu about this plan. He knew that Tang Hongyu would disapprove of this plan if he told her.

Plausible deniability was his excuse behind keeping his plan secret.

It wasn't like the most loving couple held no secret from each other. Surely, even some couples who love each other deeply keep secrets from their partner for one reason or another.

Chen Fan already had one secret he kept from Tang Hongyu: the truth behind his past. He even fabricated a past to suit his needs. Adding another one wouldn't matter much. He only had to be careful not to add more secrets.

Too many secrets would make it hard to keep them hidden. More so when he and his lover were someone who would live for a very, very long time.

And finally, the day Chen Fan had been waiting for arrived when Jiang Churan asked Tang Hongyu's permission to hang out with her friends for a celebration for…something.

Jiang Churan had no idea that that event would be a turning point in her life…

| AFTERWORD |

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Hi, you're here with your annoying author, Celestial_Demon. Anyway, the first volume of this fanfiction is finally done. This is an important milestone for me.

After rereading this fanfiction, seeing the comments, constructive reviews, and suggestions, as well as contemplating how this fanfiction will progress, I have to admit that I have meaninglessly stretched out the slice-of-life aspect.

I realized that if I keep doing this, the Rebirth of the Urban Immortal Cultivator saga will take a long time to finish. I'm afraid that I will lose motivation by doing so. Therefore, I decided to increase the pace of the storyline starting from the second volume, so don't be surprised if it goes Plus Ultra and some details aren't fleshed out too much starting from the next chapter.

In any case, thank you for accompanying me through the whole volume I. If you would like, I hope you will continue to accompany me in the next volume. Thank you!
