8 Chapter 08: Lt. Surge...

Alex could finally see the famous metropolis known as Vermillion City. He directly took the sky once his two days training camp was over and he easily finished the week long journey in just two and half days.

Because of its location near the sea inlet, this city was one of the most popular tourist place in Kanto Region. Another reason for its popularity was the biggest Poke Mart.

It was also the only place of Kanto Region where St. Anne docked once in a year. Alex stopped admiring the city and started walking.

Alex made his way to the Pokemon Center while looking around the busy markets and electronics shops.

But when he entered the lobby, he was surprised to see the densely populated lobby. He could see injured Pokemon and their distressed trainers everywhere. He tried but failed to remember such event in the Pokemon anime. So he decided to ask someone.

After asking around, Alex finally found out the cause behind this pandemonium. It was actually the Vermillion City Gym leader Lt. Surge who was behind all this. According to trainers Lt. Surge was just another normal Gym leader but all of a sudden

starting from last month, he started using one of his strongest Pokemon a Raichu.

From then on most of the trainers were brutally lost to him. Apparently it was all because of St. Anne a luxurious private cruise. To promote this year's Pokemon League they were giving free tickets of St. Anne.

So to make sure that only worthy trainers could get a chance to enjoy St. Anne and the eligibility to participate in the Pokemon Tournament, Lt. Surge was doing all this.

In summary every Pokemon Trainer who could win against him would not only get the Gym Badge but also a cruise ticket for free. But there was also a condition, you have to defeat him in a two on two battle without loosing your Pokemon, only then would you get the ticket.

In addition you must have less than three badges otherwise the deal is off. After hearing this news Alex was very excited because he really wanted to participate in this upcoming tournament.

So after he made sure his Pokemon were in best condition he wore his silver mask and headed towards the Vermillion City Gym. When he walked inside Alex saw two military personnel were guarding the pathway to the arena.

" Step aside, i am going to challenge your Gym leader. " Alex said in his altered voice. Both personnel looked at eachother and then burst out laughing.

One of them asked him, " How many badges do you have little kid? " Alex was pissed because no matter where, his height was a real problem whenever he tried to intimidate someone. But he still replied, " Two badges. "

" Although kid you do have guts to face our leader, but i don't think a kid with two badges could defeat him. So don't waste our time go away. " The second one scoffed in reply.

Now Alex was truly getting angry, " Look just shut up and call him. I don't have any interest in listening your useless banters. " Hearing this both men felt insulted and just as they were about say something a booming voice interrupted them.

" Hahaha...a gutsy punk. I like your attitude kid, so come on i am accepting your challenge. let's get this over with. " Said a tall muscular man clad in military uniform, who entered through the door.

They walked into the main battlefield and one of the men also joined them to act as the referee.

The man took his position as he announced, " This will be a two on two official match where only the challenger can rotate his Pokemon. The match will end when both Pokemon are unable to battle. "

Surge laughed as he threw his first Poke Ball, " Electrode go and teach this brat a lesson. " A large Poke Ball type looking Pokemon materialised with a fierce grin plastered on his face.

Alex smirked, " Darkrai come out. " As always the impact of first time seeing Darkrai was massive. Both sidekicks and Lt. Surge felt like their throats gone dry.

" Fuck...kid how the hell did you get this Mythical Pokemon!!! " Lt. Surge asked as he became serious all of a sudden, " Alright kid, it seems i have gravely underestimated you. "

" Use Swift then follow with Electro Ball. "

Alex countered immediately, " Darkrai dodge and then use Shadow Ball. " Darkrai easily dodged as the electric attack missed. Then she gathered a bunch of Shadow Ball and launched them towards Electrode.

" Alright try to dodge them. Approach it and use Explosion to blow the field up" Surge shouted his next order.

Electrode rapidly dodged some of the Shadow Ball but still got hit by three of them, nonetheless it was successful in getting near Darkrai. Then the round Pokemon self destructed as its final suicidal move.

Darkrai didn't waste any time and just flew away from the area of impact. After the powerful explosion, Electrode could be seen knocked out on the ground.

" Electrode is unable to continue. Gym leader please choose your next Pokemon. " Referee announced.

" Damn kid, you have got one hell of a Pokemon there. " Surge cursed in frustration as he released his next Pokemon, " Now let's see how will you handle my Raichu!! " An oversized Raichu stood in front of him with a cocky smile plastered on its face.

" Alright Darkrai use Dark Pulse. " Darkrai conjured two intertwined chain of dark energy and fired it towards the electric mouse.

" Raichu use Thunderbolt full power. " Surge ordered as Raichu threw out thousands volts of electricity towards its opponent.

Both attacks collided in the mid air resulting in a massive explosion.

" Now Raichu use Volt Tackle. "

Raichu clocked its body with electricity and rushed towards Darkrai. Raichu was surprisingly fast unlike its huge frame. Seeing this attack Alex decided to finish it, " Darkrai let's wrap this up. Use Dark Void. " Darkrai instantly formed a Dark Void and fired it towards the approaching electric mouse.

" Alright kid, i won't back off. Raichu take that Pokemon head on, maximum power. " Surge grinned maniacally as he ordered his Pokemon.

The volume of electric energy intensified around its body as it rapidly approached Darkrai. But before it could reach near her it got hit by Dark Void and immediately lost its consciousness.

But due to its forward momentum Raichu didn't stop there. Darkrai easily avoided the incoming unconscious Pokemon as Raichu crashed against the opposite wall with a thud.

" Raichu is unable to battle. The winner of this match is challenger with the score of 2-0. " The referee announced as Surge recalled his Raichu. The referee was also stunned by Alex's display of dominance.

Alex praised his Pokemon, " Good job girl, I'm proud of you. That was our second flawless win but now take some rest. " He brushed his fingers through his Pokemon's white hair. Darkrai enjoyed the attention. She was gradually becoming fond of her trainer's pampering. Then she returned back to her shadow dimension as she merged with Alex's shadow.

Lt. Surge sighed in resignation, " That was.... unexpected. " But he cheered up in the next moment, " Well done kid. That was the most entertaining match i have had in months. "

Then he pulled out a badge along with a ticket from his pocket and gave them to Alex, " Here take the Thunder Badge and ticket for St. Anne luxurious cruise. " Alex carefully stored both of the items.

Lt. gave then adviced him, " Now kid you have to remember that the St. Anne is scheduled to set sail on next Saturday. So don't miss it and also until then train well because your opponents are going to be tough ones. "

He then added, " Hmmm, that's right. Your ticket is a first-class one. You are the only one who got this first-class ticket so don't miss this opportunity. "

Alex smiled, " Thanks for your generosity. "

" You don't need to thank me you have earned it. " Then he said softly, " But if possible atleast tell me your name. "

Alex didn't deny his request, " I am Alex and i hope to see you again in the future. " Then he bid farewell and started leaving. When he left the hall some trainers were already waiting outside, who looked at his departing figure with awe and respect.

Alex didn't mind and just shrugged it off. But unknown to him someone among them had actually recorded his full battle and posted it online.

After the battle he wondered around the city to have some fun before he booked a room in a hotel outside because of the unavailability of vacancies in Pokemon Centre.

The rest of the day he spent with either enjoying some expensive dishes or playing with his Pokemon in the castomized pool inside his room.

" Alright everyone we have won our third Gym Badge. " Alex declared, " Also tonight after party our youngest friend Amaura is going to complete her evolution. So let's congratulate her. " Alex had made some new sweet flavoured Poffins for her as she liked eating sweets and ice creams the most.

After dinner it was finally time for her evolution so he gathered everyone in the training field and beckoned her to come near him. Amaura like always rushed at him excitedly. Alex scratched her under belly, which made her delighted. After that he took back the Everstone pendant from her neck to let her evolve.

Everstone was a special type of stone which prevented the Pokemon from evolving.

In the next moment Amaura started glowing and began growing in size. She soon stood at a height of eight feet only then did the glowing started fading away.

Alex grinned widely as he looked at the collosal dinosour like creature stood in front of him. Her pink membranes were turned light blue colour and the blue crystals multiplied in numbers. Her tail also grew longer and now curled at the end.

This majestic Pokemon was Aurorus, the final evolution form of Amaura. Aurorus gazed down and happily nudged Alex with her massive head. He caressed her head as he let her go, to interact with his other Pokemon.

Finally he looked at his team and was very satisfied with their progress. Now Aurorus was at level 42 after her final evolution. Darkrai was still the strongest with her level 60, then the third strongest was Scizor with level 40.

Next was Charmeleon with level 32, Aron at level 30 and finally Rhyhorn with level 28.

" Charmeleon, Rhyhorn and Aron you three have to train harder because the rest of the team are already in their final form. " Alex announced as he continued, " So i am going to train you three the hardest starting from tomorrow. "
