2 Chapter 02: Second Pokemon...

After breakfast Alex left for Professor Oak's Lab. He was in a great mood and while on his way to the lab he told Darkrai to hide in shadow.

Pallet Town, Professor Oak's Lab:-

Currently two kids, a boy and a girl along with an old man could be seen standing in the middle of the room, in front of an old looking machine which was covered in a glass dome.

The old man was Professor Oak, a renowned Pokemon Scientist and the creator of Pokedex.

Among the two kids the boy with spiky hair was Gary, Professor Oak's grandson and the boy who liked to bully previous Alex whereas the cute pink haired girl was Tina.

" Sorry I'm late. " with a apologetic voice Alex made his entrance into the room.

Gary snorted upon seeing Alex, " Yo, isn't this our loser Alex. As always you are the dead last and look because of you, we have been wasting time for almost thirty-five minutes. " Alex glared at him but Professor Oak stopped both boys.

" Alright that's enough. Alex you are really late this time, I'm almost about to send someone to fetch you. " Oak said sternly. " Now that you have come, let's not waste our time. You three, are you ready to receive your first Pokemon!!! "

After finishing his speech, he pressed the button and three poke ball appeared. He opened all three Poke Balls one by one and revealed the Pokemon inside.

The first one was a short green Pokemon with four stubby legs and tree bulb on its back. The second one was a small lizard type bipedal Pokemon with yellow coloured skin and orange-red flame at the top of its tail.

The final one was a bipedal blue tortoise with brown coloured shell and white underbelly. It also had a curly tail.

" Now choose your starter Pokemon among these three. This green one is Bulbasaur a Grass type, the blue one is a Squirtle a Water type and the yellow lizard is a shiny Charmander a Fire type. " Oak paused a little before continuing, " Each of them have different strengths and weaknesses with separate personalities. Now choose wisely as it's your most important step to fulfill your dreams of becoming a Pokemon Master. "

Before Gary or Tina could choose Alex said, " Professor Oak, actually i already have a Pokemon for my starter. So i think i don't need a starter. "

Oak was speechless for a second before responding, " Would you mind me if i see your starter? " Seeing Alex's nod he added, " Alright then, let them finish choosing their and you can release it afterwards. " Alex nodded and waited at the side.

Gary snorted and was the first one to choose, " Squirtle, i choose you because i like your attitude. Now that you have become mine you can rest easy because one day the whole world will tremble under our foot. " Squirtle cockily smirked and nodded in agreement.

Next Tina looked at the remaining two Pokemon, the nervous Charmander and lazy Bulbasaur. After thinking for a moment she finally made her choice. She crouched in front of Bulbasaur, " Bulbasaur I'm Tina. Would you prefer to come with me? I promise I'll take care of you like my family. "

Bulbasaur yawned and nodded lazily. It extended its vines and climbed on Tina's head. The Charmander looked at his companions taken away by their trainers sadly. He thought no one wanted it. Looking at their companions happy smile he couldn't control himself and started crying.

Seeing this Professor Oak sighed and tried to console the baby Pokemon as among them Charmander was the youngest one.

Suddenly he got an idea as he looked at Alex, " Alex my boy, why don't you take this Shiny Charmander!!? As you know you three are the only ones to start your journey this year, so take him. He will definitely become a strong companion in future. So what do you think? "

Ash was stunned. He looked at both Gary and Tina but both of them were looking uninterested.

' Fuck, a Shiny Charmander. A Shiny Pokemon was very hard to find and was absolutely strongest of their kind and to think this old man is offering me a Shiny Charmander like giving away a wild Rattata. ' Alex thought as he looked at the professor.

" Professor are you really sure? " He asked again for confirmation.

Oak nodded, " Of course Alex, now would you like to take this Charmander? "

Ash grinned widely and made his way towards Charmander. He crouched down to the Charmander's level to make the nervous Pokemon comfortable and began, " Hey Charmander, I'm Alex. Do you want to accompany me on my journey? I will definitely make you the strongest Charizard. "

The little lizard Pokemon's tail flared up as he nodded eagerly and gave Alex a toothy grin as a reply. Alex smiled and caressed his head and received the Poke Ball from Oak.

Finally Professor Oak sighed and made his final statement, " Now listen carefully. I am giving you all a rare Pokemon so in return you have to do something for me. Next I'm going to give you all a Pokedex. " He added again, " As you know I'm a Pokemon researcher, so your task is to gather data about any rare Pokemon for my Pokedex. "

" Alright now, Alex show me your starter Pokemon so i can update your Pokedex. " Oak said as Alex nodded, " Darkrai, come out. "

In the next moment Darkrai slowly emerged from Alex shadow in front of the stunned gazes of the spectators. While both Bulbasaur and Squirtle looked warily, the little Charmander was looking at Darkrai's cool entrance with awe and worship in his eyes.

Professor Oak nearly passed out as he recognised the Pokemon but Gary and Tina looked confused as they didn't have any idea regarding Darkrai.

" Alex...this...but how? " Professor Oak asked in a trembling voice and like before Alex repeated his fake story.

After listening the story Gary snapped, " Old man, why are you behaving like this!!! What is so special about this Pokemon? "

Oak finally calmed down a little and answered, " This is Darkrai a Dark type Mythical Pokemon. " He started elaborating, " There are three types of Pokemon based on their rarity such as normal, Legendary and Mythical. Mythical Pokemon are absolutely impossible to find and the most strongest Pokemon of our world. Alex's Darkrai is such a Pokemon. "

Gary looked dumbly as he heard this answer. This was the first time he felt jealous about someone. Looking at Gary's jealous expression Alex grinned and raised a middle finger towards him secretly.

Gary gritted his teeth in anger and frustration but didn't say anything.

After some discussion Oak left and returned with three Pokedex and some Poke Balls. He gave them five Poke Balls and their separate Pokedex.

Alex left Oak's lab with his Shiny Charmander as he decided not to recall it.

After bidding his farewell to his mom, Alex left Pallet Town and officially started his journey. But a sudden announcement made him pause in his track.

Charmander was confused by this sudden pause but still he obediently waited for his owner.

Pokemon Trainer: Your job is to nurture, train and care about your Pokemon to make them possibly the best of their kind.

Perks: Cooking Proficiency, Survival Tactics, and Medicinal Tactics etc. has been learnt. ]

Alex was truly surprised and he knew that all these knowledge would help him tremendously in future. So he was glad by this update.

Alex decided to explore his Psychic ability after reaching a safe area. So he nodded and resumed his journey again.

Alex was walking slowly to let his Charmander adopt on his long distance walking. Darkrai was also out of his shadow and hovering beside him while looking around curiously. Alex didn't recall Charmander so that he could bond with his new team.

After walking for the whole day, Alex was feeling tired so was his Charmander. So he decided to find a good place to set his camp and spend the night.

Soon he found a nice spot and decided to camp here for tonight. Alex sent Darkrai to get some firewood. Charmander helped him in making a pit and setting up camp.

After approximately fifteen minutes Darkrai returned with firewood and Charmander used his tail to lit the campfire.

Within the cozy atmosphere he cooked some dried meat for himself. Darkrai and Charmander both ate their favourite Pokeblocks and Poffins.

While his Pokemon were enjoying their food, Alex used scan on Charmander.

[ Charmander the *Lizard Pokemon*. The flame on its tail represents the strength of its life force. If it is weak, the flame also burns weakly.

Alex grinned at his Charmander's stats as he processed the information. His Blaze ability would increase all Fire type moves when in low hp.

After having dinner he went inside the camp and started meditation as it would help him in understanding and enhancing his Psychic ability.

After an unknown amount of time he opened his eyes and was surprised as the sky outside was already dark and both his Pokemon were sleeping near him.

He smiled and said goodnight as he finally went to sleep.
