1 Coming to a New World

"Ahem...everyone, starting from today onward, we have a new student Emma Lin! Make sure to make her feel welcomed!"

As the professor was saying this, he gestured towards the girl next to him. The girl had pretty, glistening eyes, which had a hint of excitement. Her hair seemed to be myriad of many colors, ranging from black, to white, to even pink. Her face had delicate features which complimented her ever-changing hair.

Once the professor had finished introducing Emma, he requested her to take a seat. Immediately, many students got out and offered theirs, but Emma avoided those and instead chose an area near the corner.

Many were disappointed but didn't give up. After all, this was just the beginning of the year, there would be many more chances!

However, Emma wouldn't give them a chance anyway, she was too preoccupied with learning about this new world.

Emma awoke to find herself lying within a large ring of candles and markings.

"Oh lord Dion, what do we do? The summoning has failed!"

"Find a way to send her back immediately! And don't forget to erase her memories!"

"Yes!"

Emma could tell that the voice contained a hint of fury and even sadness, even if the owner tried to suppress it. Curious, she tried to walk around the room, only to find herself unable to stand.

Sensing that this wasn't a good time to ask about herself, Emma began assessing the room she was in.

Currently, she was in a large auditorium, filled with markings and weird symbols. Summoning? Recalling what was spoken earlier, Emma concluded that she might be in a different world. The man who was reporting earlier stood beside Emma, dressed in hot pink robes which touched the ground. His face, however, didn't look so hot. He seemed to be on the verge of peeing his pants, and tears already began streaming down his face.

Lord Dion was known to be merciless to those who couldn't finish his tasks. Last time, there was an unlucky fellow who was short on cash, and volunteered to be Lord Dion's personal secretary. He didn't even last a week before getting dropped from the skies and sliced into million pieces. What was worse was that Lord Dion had placed a giant mountain of cash where the man was going to fall, but a moment before the man could even touch the money, his life had ended. People called him the 'Heartless Guardian' for a reason.

"L-lord Dion, we cannot find a method to return her to her world!"

"I don't ca-"

Before Lord Dion could finish his words, his eyes suddenly widened as he saw Emma curiously watching.

At this moment, Emma also got a good look at this 'Lord Dion.'

The man was quite tall, with a strong build and muscular arms. His eyes were a dark auburn color, and his hair had a fiery golden luster. His face resembled a lion's, in a way.

Thinking that Lord Dion was mad, the servant didn't even think twice before kowtowing and begging for forgiveness.

"Sir, please let me live! I have a family and kids to take care of!"

"Men, take him away."

"Wait. Could you spare him for me?" Emma's clear voice rang out. "I heard that I can't go back. If that's the case, do you mind if he helps me? If not, that's okay too. My only wish is to learn about this world."

Lord Dion thought about it, then hesitantly said, "Fine. Enroll her into my academy. You are to follow whatever she says, understood?" He pointed towards the worker in pink.

The man thanked his lucky stars that he didn't get chopped up and turned towards Emma to introduce himself.

"Hello, I am Rion, what is your name, dear master?"

"You can just call me Emma."

"Understood."

It was currently break and Emma had just escaped from a horde of students. Wandering around the hallway, she came across a gargantuan door at the end of the hallway. It was decorated with golden patterns and at the top, had the giant words, LIBRARY.

Emma was extremely excited because in her previous life, libraries were her Heaven.

When she had pushed open the large bronze doors, brilliant lights attacked her. For a moment, Emma felt like she was under God's judgement, unable to resist telling anything but the truth.

"Oh, there is actually someone who visits the library these days."
