6 Swim!

Alyra tried to fight, she imagined that her biggest problem would be to escape from those creatures, but everything seemed to get more and more dangerous.

When she woke up, she realized she was still in the water, but unlike the first time, there seemed to be a current, which made her almost unable to fight, it was as if the universe knew what she was capable of, but still lacked a certain motivation.

The girl tried to swim, but it didn't seem to be enough, it was when she realized that the water was now pulling her harder, the sound of the water in front of her seemed to be louder and stronger, her intuition told her it was not a good thing, it was then she started swimming with all her forces. Her body getting closer and closer to the end, her breathing was now much stronger and unregulated, her tears of despair mingled with the water, making them imperceptible.

When she was almost falling, she clung firmly to a large branch which was almost breaking, with trembling hands, the part of her legs was already being pulled so hard, that Alyra even thought of giving up, after all, what was the chance she had to get out of this? but after she escaped from those monstrous creatures, she did not think that dying now would be a fair thing.

It was so short that when the branch broke, Alyra stuck her fingers hard into the earth, and she could feel the roots protruding from the tree next to her, pierce her skin, but none of that mattered now, with the strength she had left, the girl succeeded, she climbed on solid ground, and walked away as quickly as possible, trying to hold her breath.

Her lungs seemed to burn, her vision seemed to be getting dark, and all she could do was think about how she almost died. From where Alyra was, it was possible to realize that her fall height would be at least 10 meters, she would not survive even if she wanted too much.

After at least 30 minutes, she managed to calm down a little, the pain in her body then began to appear, her hands throbbed, after all, she had stuck her fingers into the earth that they were bleeding, her arms had only a few scratches, from the way she threw herself on the ground, when she finally managed to get out of the water, but none of that worried her now.

All she needed was to find out what to do next, after all, just as she got there, they could get there too.

So much time had passed that the night was already taking place, which made the girl quicken her step, she was not afraid of the dark, but she was afraid of what might come with it, especially because she had no idea of what that place was like, with the exception of the name.

After walking for so long, she finally found civilization, or at least traces that someone had already been there.

Walking the streets on alert, as if at any moment, something could hurt her, but on the one hand, she felt as if her clothes, which were still a little damp, and the cold wind that had started, caused her some discomfort and a sense of vulnerability.

In the place, there were dwellings, but absolutely nobody in them, they were beautiful, but very small, very similar to the house she had seen in the “dream” that she recently had.

Alyra didn’t hesitate to search in them, to see if she could find anyone or anything that could help her, but the place was completely empty, just some spoiled food, and messy things. Everything seemed very chaotic there, some of the houses were burned, others destroyed, almost nothing that could be reused.

After some time searching and looking for some food, she noticed that the sky was dark, almost completely, in the forest, small noises gave her the feeling, that the best at the moment, would be to find somewhere to stay, so she decided then , who would stay in the house that best endured, to be able to protect herself from whatever was walking around there at night, and maybe find something to be able to protect her from the temperature, which seemed to be falling fast.

So it did, it was one of the houses furthest from the others, next to it, there was a big place, it had broken doors and books lying on the floor, which made it deduce that it was a library.

As soon as she entered the little house, she saw that there, things were turned upside down, but a little better than the others, she decided to stay there that night.

Before she was completely sure it would be safe, she scanned the house with critical and penetrating eyes, leaving nothing to pass. There wasn’t much furniture, there were some books on the floor, and some files, when she looked at them, she realized they were old, and they were written in Latin, which made her confused, which was even more confusing, was that she knew exactly what was written there.

—I never studied Latin in my life—she said almost as if in a whisper, but she chose not to get attached to this detail, keeping in mind that practically nothing that was happening there, was normal.

After reading them, she discovered that the small house that was removed from the others, belonged to whoever it was, who took care of the library, a kind of librarian and janitor at the same time.

The house had no door, which caused her some anxiety, but as she had noticed that there was still a small upstairs, which was open and had a wide view of everything that was down there, it made her feel more secure, it was much easier to see someone from above than from below.

For a few moments, that thought disturbed her, after all, she was down there, what if there was someone up there?

With that thought, she searched every room for something that might serve her, until she found a small dagger, hidden on a shelf above the bookcase.

—This place shouldn't be safe at all, why would a librarian need a dagger?

She reached the top floor, where she found nothing dangerous, but decided to keep the dagger with her, it could be useful.

She saw that in the closet, there were clothes that were bigger than her, but at the moment it didn't matter.

She took the pants that suited her best, a short-sleeved T-shirt white and finally, a brown sweater, which was big on her, but which was warm and comfortable, tied her almost dry hair in a ponytail, with a tape that had been found there.

She found a backpack lying on the floor, which gave her the idea of picking up the things most useful to her. Alyra pasted on a few clothes, a few snacks she had found, like cookies, and finally, a bottle with water. Finally, the girl decided to get some rest, since she didn't know what the next day might be like.

Loud noises were heard, causing Alyra to wake up, the darkness helped her to hide easily, and slowly the girl looked through one of the small windows that was there, saw then, the same beings she had seen in her "dream", werewolves, you can also see cars that look like tanks, which crushed everything they saw ahead.

Her despair started, when realized that they were searching the houses, worst of all is that they were very close, and she would have no escape without being seen, or sniffed, her heartbeat quickly increased.

She needed a plan, took a deep breath and closed her eyes, took a moment to think, and was looking for some idea.

“Azulis lupidae”

Alyra opened her eyes with a surprised expression, walked quietly downstairs, and looked discreetly around the house.

There it was, the little house seemed to get bigger, and the pot with the exact plant she needed, seemed too far away to be picked up.

Even so, the girl didn't have many chances, she knew that if she were caught by them, her destiny would be the same as the one she had seen before, only this time, without Vega to even ask if she was okay.

Cautiously, she walked to the other side, and clung to the plant as if it were her most precious possession.

She took a deep breath, until she saw a shadow reflecting in the moonlight, and a voice saying:

—I think I heard something coming from here.
