29 Chapter 29: Keeping Up With the Act Till the Very End and Feigning Ignorance

They were in Beijing, the capital and the heartland of the nation. 

The Gong Family was one of those who could climb their way up to the pyramid of this world-famous metropolis and stand strong for a long time with their capabilities. 

Gong Siyu, who was one of the Three Young Masters of Beijing and the successor of a mega-rich family, was the heir whom the Gong Family, Beijing, and even the entire nation, paid the most attention to. 

He had an individual net worth of 70 billion US dollars. 

For three years in a row, he was number one on Forbes' list of the World's Youngest Tycoons, in the top three of the list of the World's Richest, and number one on the list of China's Richest. 

Rumor had it that once Gong Siyu inherited all of his family's assets, he would become the first Chinese national to be named the wealthiest person in the world. 

The Gong Family had a history of more than a hundred years, dating back to the Qing Dynasty, where their clansmen were powerful ministers of the imperial courts. They had accumulated a massive amount of wealth.

Despite having been through a century of changes, the Gong Family had never declined. 

The current patriarch of the Gong family was Gong Siyu's grandfather, the former Supreme Commander-in-chief of the Central Military region. Even though he had already retired, he still held great power, authority, and connections. Many of the powerful people in politics today were his former students and subordinates. The matriarch was Gong Siyu's grandmother Shen Manqing, known as the "Empress Dowager". She was a fearsome businesswoman with a fierce and domineering spirit.

The two of them could easily blow up a storm in Beijing with just a stomp of their feet. The person whom they doted on the most was Gong Siyu, and thus he was handpicked to be the next successor.

The Gong Group owned businesses in a wide range of fields, including finance, real estate, weapons manufacturing, film and entertainment, jewelry, and luxury goods. They also branched out to the field of hotels and internet technology. 

Their business had also expanded overseas where there were many conglomerates and corporations under the Gong Family 

A group of executives, who were about to be overwhelmed by the piles of clothes and bags, were shocked to see Ji Younai's exquisite and perfect side profile.

'How detached must this girl be to be clueless about everything?'

'Seems like she's not pretending, but she's really clueless.' 

Gong Siyu bought clothes, bags, and shoes worth millions of yuan for Ji Younai.

He swiped his card to foot the bill without even batting an eyelid. 

Then, he picked out the one he was most satisfied with and shoved it into Kiyuna's arms.

"Change out the clothes you're wearing now and put on the new ones. We'll leave afterwards." 

Gong Siyu gave her a lace off-shoulder floral dress, which was made of excellent material and was extremely expensive. He also told her to pair it with a pair of pink, ballet-style, strapped flats, which was the latest model from Miumiu.

He had also.. .bought her a bra in her size, 34C. 

Blushing red, Ji Younai looked down and walked out of the fitting room embarrassedly as she felt that there were too many people. 

As soon as Liu Yun saw Ji Younai, he was so stunned that he couldn't help but remove his sunglasses. 

Bai Feiran noticed it and forced him to put them back on. 

"Younai, you look gorgeous! You're like a fairy!" 

He continued, "However, you're too fair. You look like a mannequin..." 

Liu Yun gently clapped his hands in awe and praised her, but as soon as he finished, Gong Siyu gave him a cold warning.

"Watch your words. Who are you calling a mannequin?" 

Liu Yun was extremely indignant. He humphed coldly and thought that Gong Siyu was being too unreasonable for not letting him speak the truth. 

Lowering her head, Ji Younai pulled a long face and walked towards Gong Siyu.

"What do I do? There are so many clothes... I can't afford to pay you back. Can we make an IOU?" 

"I'll pay you back when I make my own money someday!" 

Gong Siyu poked Ji Younai's head, wherein her high ponytail was hanging from. He smiled faintly and said, "Silly, they're gifts for you."

"Where are we going next?"

"To the household registrar in the police station. You were previously pronounced dead, so your identity documents and household register were destroyed. We must apply for new ones. Otherwise, you will be an illegal citizen."

Due to her death, Ji Younai's identity information had already been erased by the Archive Office. 

Without an ID, she would not be able to do anything. Hence, registering for a new ID was of top priority. 

The Chief of the police station and the director of the Household Registrar had long been waiting at the personal registration office for a long time. They were two somewhat plump middle-aged men who looked stern, each holding a glass teacup. As soon as they saw Gong Siyu who was donning a silver-white suit, they immediately greeted him. 

"Young Master Gong, how has the commander-in-chief been lately?" 

"He's very well. He practices Tai Chi every day, and it won't be a problem for him to live up to a hundred years old. Chief Officer Jiang, save the formalities. Let's cut straight to the chase. Hand me the forms and documents that we have to sign for the registration. This girl here is very weak, and she can't stay out for too long. Hurry up." 

Gong Siyu exuded an aura that was full of nobility. He took a seat by the side gracefully, slowly crossed one leg over the other, with a condescending gaze in his eyes that resembled that of a lofty, highly mighty king. Surprised, Jiang Yuanguo looked at the young girl whom Gong Siyu had pulled into the seat beside him. Afterward, with a personable and benevolent expression, he patiently explained to Ji Younai the details that she had to take note of and how she should fill in the form. 

Ji Younai was then brought away by the head of the registration office to have her photo taken.

Gong Siyu grabbed the ID registration form and took a look at it to see that her stated age was 18 years old. 

He suddenly frowned and looked at Jiang Yuanguo. 

"Chief Officer Jiang, what is the current legal age for marriage after the change in the law that was made this year?" 

Chief Officer Jiang was sipping on some tea when he heard the question. After some thought, he answered solemnly, "22 years old for males, and 20 years old for females." 

Thereafter, under the shocked gaze of Chief Officer Jiang, Gong Siyu picked up a pen and changed Ji Younai's age to 20 years old, and her year of birth from 1999 to 1997.

Seeing that Ji Younai had yet to come out, Gong Siyu raised his eyebrows and instructed, "When you process the documents and her household register later, change her year of birth to 1997, got it?"

Despite being slightly stunned, Jiang Yuanguo seemed to have understood Gong Siyu's intentions. He nodded smilingly and said, "Sure, no problem." 

Ji Younai felt that Gong Siyu seemed to be able to open up special channels for himself regardless of what he was doing. It looked as though he was given the best VIP treatment everywhere. 

When Ji Younai received her brand new ID and household register, she looked at Gong Siyu in awe and admiration for a moment like a fangirl.

However, she soon discovered that her year of birth was changed from 1999 to 1997! 

"Gong Siyu, did they make a mistake? I was born in 1999! Why did it become 1997?"

Ji Younai could not accept becoming two years older in an instant. 

However, he had to keep up with the act and pretend like he did not know anything. 

Gong Siyu grabbed Ji Younai's ID and pretended to look at it with a frown. He then pulled Ji Younai out of the door. 

"Maybe, the registration officer is shortsighted and did not see clearly, so they made a mistake." 

"What... what should I do then? Can it be edited?" 

He stood still and looked down at Ji Younai, pretending to be stern. 

"Younai, I know you're a very obedient child who doesn't like troubling others, right?" 

Gazing at Ji Younai's large, watery, and innocent eyes that were filled with confusion, Gong Siyu gritted his teeth secretly. 

"But my age..." 

Pointing at the '1997' on her ID and household register, her almond-shaped eyes glistened, and she looked just like a life-sized doll. Appearing rather aggrieved, Ji Younai felt conflicted for a moment before looking down and sighing. 

"Yeah, I really don't like troubling others. Since it's 1997, so be it. Their jobs aren't easy either. It wouldn't be nice to trouble them."

Gong Siyu felt like an absolute jerk who had secretly edited Ji Younai's year of birth. 

However, the more sensible Ji Younai was, the more sympathetic and heartbroken he felt. 

He had no choice but to edit her year of birth.
