Strange Circumstance

Exhaustion, powerlessness, and confusion were the first feelings that began to rise in the being. Slowly a cloud of haze lifted from their mind enough to leave them bewildered by their current predicament.

Why?

Why was a being as powerful as him waking up to a muddy stream of consciousness?

In fact, where was he and why?

Shaking the haze from his mind the great being slowly observed his surroundings. He found to his confusion and shock that he was in an old, dilapidated building somewhere on the planet Earth, and from what he could gather somewhere in the United States of America. The shock slowly morphed into annoyance. The constellations had deemed this planet untouchable, it had yet to show signs of the Dismantlement, the portals that bring monsters, magic, and mayhem to this dimension, as such constellations were barred from interacting with the planet or its denizens or face harsh retribution. The constellation without a moment's hesitation collected a small portion of his powers as he attempted to transport his being back to the galaxy and cosmos beyond this planet and dimension so he could return to his duties and fellow constellation, but he found himself unable to do so. He tried once more but to his horror, he was unable to cross the barrier of this dimension, as if in some strange way he had anchored to this dimension and could not leave it.

A deep sigh was released from the constellation's lips, this was a minor annoyance, the prank of another constellation one that he would have harsh words with soon. He attempted to reach out to the constellations to understand his predicament and serve as his testimonies to the council, as one of the oldest and strongest constellations his punishment for breaking the ban would be much harsher. Unfortunately, his attempt to communicate on the Star Stream was met with failure, as though he had been cut off from the Star Stream entirely. He attempted once again, feeling a little indignant at his situation but like the first attempt, there was no connection to the Star Stream.

He attempted repeatedly, each failure only succeeding at building his anger and rage. After the thirteenth attempt, the constellation seethed in anger shutting off his communication. The old building's foundations began to rumble and shake as his power swirled around him in response to his growing anger. A giant release of his power shook the building so fiercely that dust, small chunks of wood, and other debris were thrown around the room. The constellation's gaze swept through the room eager to leave this dilapidated, rooted room and find another dwelling place until he could solve his problems.

Just as the constellation was about to leave a small sickly cough rang out, and the constellation froze looking around for the human that made the noise. There nestled in the corner of the room was a small girl who looked to be no older than about four or five years old, she was covered in dust and other fragments of debris that made it hard to distinguish any notable features about her. The constellation looked over the girl inspecting for any injuries that might have occurred during his violent outburst, it was major taboo for a constellation to injure humans themselves only their champions had this honor and ability, to his relief the girl had sustained no injuries and as such was of no importance to him anymore.

As the constellation's gaze began to turn away the little girl's drab brown eyes opened in awe as she looked at the strange being in front of her.

"Are you an angel here to take me to heaven? Thank you, Mr. Angel I'm happy I can go to heaven now." She softly babbled.

The constellation whipped his gaze back to the girl in amazement and shock, normally humans were not able to view a constellation's true form even the most powerful champions had trouble doing so, but this powerless girl was able to do so! He slowly moved around the girl observing her and noticing how her gaze never left his own. This girl could truly see him, it was not just mere luck or coincidence!

"Mr. Angel is something wrong with me? Am I unable to go to heaven?" She choked, her eyes beginning to fill with tears.

With his curiosity peaked the constellation decided to assess something, reaching out to communicate indirectly to the girl before him. A small slightly opaque blue box appeared before the little girl with a small ding, she stared at it in confusion before slowly reading the message before her.

Ding!

[The Constellation, Ethereal Avian of Fiery Skies, questions who you are.]

"My name is Phoebe Mr. Angel. Mr. Angel, can I go to heaven now I'm tired and always hungry. I just want to rest in heaven now. The orphanage director doesn't treat us nicely I don't like being here." Phoebe mumbled.

The constellation chuckled with amusement as he observed Phoebe's confusion. This girl was one in a million, able to see and hear him before the Dismantlement began. To understand the girl's constitution, he decided to use a small thread of his power to wrap around the strange girl scanning for her peculiarity, she hummed in delight as the warm power enveloped her body like a blanket. Slowly that power seeps into her body filling the girl with a small amount of vitality, her pale skin becoming slightly rosier, he chuckled at the sight.

Now he understood what was so strange about this girl, she was an unawaken champion with 100% compatibility with him. For the weaker constellations compatibility with a human champion was of little importance as their power was unlikely to make a human explode so they formed champion bonds with many humans regardless of compatibility, which created varying degrees of strength between their many champions. However, this wasn't the case for high-level constellations, as forming a champion bond with any human with a compatibility rating lower than 60% was liable to make that human explode, as such they rarely made champion bonds and when they did it was exceedingly rare. This was the first time he had ever seen a human with such a high compatibility rating with a constellation as ancient and powerful as he.

The constellation chuckles looking at Phoebe's confusion and choice regarding the girl and his newfound situation.

Ding!

[The Constellation, Ethereal Avian of Fiery Skies, asks if you want to leave with him.]

Phoebe, after slowly reading the message before her looks up at the constellation and silently nods.

After receiving Phoebe's answer, the constellation began to look around the dilapidated building for something to possess since the other humans would not be able to see him and he wouldn't be able to take the girl out of the orphanage legally. He could kidnap her, but he remembers that one of his fellow constellations mentioned how humans have a system of governance and that it is important for them to remain in that system to provide and protect them, so he needed to take her away legally. That is when he sees a small plush human-shaped doll in a small wreckage by the door.

The doll was covered in dust, with seams coming apart, and the fabric unraveling at the edges, one of the small black button eyes barely hanging onto the face with the other missing, a few dirty and torn pieces remaining on the head in a poor resemblance of hair. Overall, the doll is barely hanging on before completely unraveling but it would function well enough to give him a temporary human body.

Ding!

[The Constellation, Ethereal Avian of Fiery Skies, tells you to wait patiently he will come to collect you soon.]

He takes the doll and then vanishes in front of Phoebe in a brilliant shower of light that temporarily blinds her. Phoebe cautiously looks around for the constellation and whimpers when she is unable to see him.
