1 Jerez (I) South Blue Arc [I]

-------------------------------------------------------------

Third Person

-------------------------------------------------------------

The World of One Piece is a cruel place.

Pirates exist everywhere, from the East Blue to the New World.

The only ones that can stop them are the Marines.

They are, after all, the only ones that are capable of standing up to Pirates.

You may ask, what about the Seven Warlords?

In this time, they have yet to be established.

Let's go back to a time, before the Great Age of Piracy.

A time where Pirates had yet to conquer the Grand Line.

Let's go.

First Person

-------------------------------------------------------------

Tell me, what is Justice?

Can it truly be defined?

One said that it changes shape, depending on where you stand.

Another one said that the victor is Justice.

Then there are some that take Justice to far.

So, what is it?

Well, I'm not sure, myself.

But, this is my life, so.

Might as well, play it a bit crazy!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Third Person

-------------------------------------------------------------

Pear Town in the South Blue was an ordinary village, well except for two things.

One, their village was quite big, encompassing almost their entire island,

Two, a certain young boy.

"I want to become a Marine, take me with you!" The young boy constantly hounded a Marine Captain, following him everywhere he went.

The Marine Captain merely ignored the boy, however, even he couldn't deny the enthusiasm of the young boy.

He was, after all, Captain Zephyr.

The young boy named, Jerez, strangely named after his favourite alcoholic drink, reminded Zephyr of himself as a youth.

The 'Hero of Justice Z' was what Zephyr called himself in his youth, and he couldn't help but draw parallels between his younger self and Jerez.

Perhaps if it was two years ago, he might have taken the boy, but at the same time, two years ago, he found out that the Marines aren't always Heroes.

"Let me come, I'll do anything!" Jerez shouted trying to get Zephyr's attention, though failing to do so, as Zephyr simply ignored the young boy.

Unfortunately, Zephyr would be stuck with the young boy for another day since they had to dock for repairs.

"Please!!! I want to become a Marine!!!"

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Next Day

-------------------------------------------------------------

"PIRATES!"

"The Red Raiders!!!"

"RUN!"

"THEY'RE COMING!!!"

There were screams.

Zephyr heard this, and he ran.

To the other side of the island.

With his Haki active, he could sense where everyone was, and with a single punch, several pirates were blown away.

A simple kick and whatever armour the pirates wore had shattered to pieces.

As he quickly dispatched the pirates surrounding him, he looked around to see a few dead bodies, some were Marines and a few were villagers, but most were pirates.

Zephyr was in a righteous fury, he somewhat blamed himself for his Haki being too weak, had his Observation Haki been stronger, then he might have noticed them the moment they docked on the island.

Unfortunately, it took screams.

Quickly examining the situation, after defeating most of the pirates, he saw their Captain.

Captain, Raider Jack, notorious for raiding villages with a bounty of $60,000,000.

High for even someone in the South Blue, likely one of the highest, and even more likely to be someone that originally came from the Grand Line, thinking themselves invincible in a weaker sea.

"Huh, who the hell are you?" Raider Jack asked looking to the running, Zephyr.

Zephyr simply smiled and continued to go even faster, until, his smile turned to a frown, as he saw Raider Jack holding a young man, threatening to shoot him.

"Take another step, and he dies."

Zephyr was frozen, not in fear for himself, but for the young man, he was definitely older than Jerez, looking to be in his teenage years.

Immediately after stopping, Zephyr began to think, 'If I go now then---' Before he saw a familiar figure running.

A small figure, as well.

It was Jerez, for a five-year-old, he was quite agile and somehow managed to not be seen by Raider Jack.

"Good, now that you've stopped---" Raider Jack was about to continue before he felt a tugging feeling at his right arm, and looking there, he saw nothing.

Then he felt a tugging feeling at his left arm, looking there, he once again saw nothing.

Zephyr in his confusion did not take the chance to run, however, as Raider Jack, felt a tugging feeling at his back, he looked to see a smiling Jerez.

"Let him go!"

Zephyr was dumbfounded by Jerez, who fearlessly told a Pirate Captain to let go of someone as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Why you brat, why don't you die?"

Zephyr wiped off his confusion, and began to get ready to run, as he did so, he ignored the angered face of Raider Jack.

"I can't die yet! I'm going to become an Admiral!"

As Zephyr heard those words, he exploded in a burst of speed, punching Raider Jack right in the face, with controlled strength, just enough to not kill him.

Doing so, he saw the smiling Jerez, who exclaimed, "So cool! I want to do that as well!"

-------------------------------------------------------------

Later

-------------------------------------------------------------

There were barely any pirates left, excluding the ones that Zephyr that managed to dispatch within moments, the others were taken down by his subordinates, a group of Marines that Zephyr believed would be among the best in the near future.

Surprisingly, there was almost a quarter of the full crew still on their pirate ship, though they were the on the other side of Island, meaning that they didn't expect for a Marine Captain to coincidentally be on the Island at the same time.

Zephyr could imagine it if he wasn't there.

Even with him there, the death toll was quite high at around fourteen people, perhaps not in the grand scheme of things, but within this village?

Fourteen people dead was about four to eight families, likely.

The Marines death toll wasn't any better at thirteen deaths, meaning thirteen comrades Zephyr had lost.

One could always argue that without Zephyr, the villagers would have just given everything away, and the pirates would have killed no one, and the villagers and Zephyr would both be happy.

But, Zephyr knew this to not be the truth.

Pirates would have taken everything and likely taken some of the villagers as slaves, and the village, well, it was easy to think of what would happen next.

There was right now, nothing to smile at--- "So, can I come with you?" Jerez interrupted with a grin, and despite all the destruction of the town, and the people dead.

Zephyr smiled.

"Also, can we get something to eat on the way!? I'm really hungry!"

Then came an awkward silence.

First Person

-------------------------------------------------------------

Here, I come, my new life.

The only shame is that since Zephyr is about thirty right now, I'll be, about...

Forty-seven when Canon begins...

Well, time to begin!
