Chapter 1 ~ Adelaide

"Beep Beep Beep"

"Five more minutes"

(Alarm continues)

Adelaide wakes up to switch off the alarm in her phone; her face still sleepy and dehydrated.She yawns and looks at the city view of her apartment and suddenly jumps out of bed when she realises that her online class had already started. Without wasting a minute she switched on her laptop and logged on Zoom to enter her Literature in English class.

"So today we shall be discussing about the themes demonstrated in the Oliver Twist book. By the way, I know online classes are really draining at the moment but let us be hopeful that everything becomes normal with time."

Everyone unmuted their mic to answer Miss Lee regarding their thoughts on Online classes and the school calendar.

To be honest,life seemed to be on pause and it was harder for her since she had recently moved out from her parents' house. She got a job at a bubble tea shop where she worked at four pm to six pm in the afternoon.That job helped afford her rent plus it had been three years since she indulged in candle making and had her own business called "Chandellaide".

Her business page on Instagram had around ten thousand followers and her creations were unreal. She could not count the amount of times she had taken candle orders from big business tycoons and majestic hotels for extremely important events. Her price were very affordable and since she was young, she did not care about making high amounts of profit.

Online classes are undoubtedly stressful so she sometimes takes her dog Laila to a walk in the city.She loved the city but her dream was to move to the country side and have a little fairy house .

There was the place she could live her simplest life while enjoying the cool breeze and turquoise clear water lakes. The little bubble broke and she found herself in the middle of the city park with Laila.

In an hour she had to go get ready for work.Once at the apartment and dressed in her uniform...she gave Laila her food and patted her as she said goodbye and left for work.

<<At the bubble tea shop.>>

"Look who is here, our little Adel !"

"Hi Gabi ! how are you?"

"Fine but tired my back hurts so bad.It's going to be a very hectic afternoon love."

"Is there any event nearby?"

"I heard the Danvers have come back from the Netherlands after 5 months and everyone has gone crazy."

"The Danvers? who are they?"

"Oh my god Adel ! you must have heard of the richest family in the city.The younger sister is a model,the elder one a very successful actress and the middle brother is very low key. I don't know much about him"

"Ohhh Stephania and Lorie Danvers ! now I remember them."

"Well they are in city and everyone is freaking out and wants to see them." She said as she washed her hand thoroughly to make some waffles for client 56.

"Must be nice to have such a lavish life don't you think so Gabi?" Adelaide said in a low tone as she cleaned the counter.

"Well ! too good to be true in our case" Gabi let out a big chuckle.

The shop was getting so full that I was nearly about to suffer from a panic attack. I never dealt with so much customers at once before but I had to be professional and not show my nervousness.I took a few small toilet breaks to wash my face because my anxiety just would not leave.

"Number 99 thank you for your Blue Vanilla bubble tea order,Number 101 here is your jasmine bubble tea....123....135..138...145"

and it went on till everyone suddenly went outside and started shouting like crazy people .The crowd was enormous and in a minute I felt like I would throw up the avocado sandwich I had eaten for lunch.The shoutings decreased and everyone including the strong bodyguards made place for people to enter. It was for the celebrities to come inside the bubble tea shop.My jaw dropped and my hands trembled so much, I could feel my organs collapse inside my body.My eyes went blind with the paparazzi flash and the two young lady looked like goddesses right in front of me.

The elder sister was wearing a black classy sweater,pale blue jeans and black red bottom pumps while the younger one was dressed in high waisted jeans,white t-shirt and black Chelsea boots.Their aura,their perfume and just everything about them screamed aristocracy. It felt like their powerful rich aura slapped mine with grace.

"Can we have a Pearl Vanilla bubble tea and Cuppa chai bubble tea please?"

I was dumbstruck.

"Uhmm yes yeah uhh ohhh alright okay erm anything else *voice cracks* (shit) ?"

They started looking at my candle business card and talked to each other very slowly.

Gabi wanted to help me get more customers so she stuck my card on the counter of her bubble tea shop.

"Anything else young ladies?" I tried to appear more confident this time.

"Well...we heard a lot about Chandellaide , we were having a look at the business page name."

Should I tell them I am the owner of Chandellaide?

Let's do that Adel.

"Oh that is a pleasure ! I am the one who makes them so if ever you feel like you need candles please do not hesitate to reach out."

I said with a smile as Gabi smirked in the corner.

"I know there are better ones out there but I make them with so much love and patience."

"That does not matter, we love supporting local businesses as long as the products are genuine." said the younger lady with a bright smile.

"I'm beyond happy to hear that from you guys."

They took their bubble tea,waved us goodbye and signed some autographs while exiting the bubble tea shop.

They were so nice yet I could feel their strong boundaries. They certainly knew their worth and even if they talked to me,I could feel how far we were from each other.They were literally shinning and sparkling...they smelled like expensive champagne and dried roses.

When I was five, I dreamed of meeting Disney princesses well I think that today was a core memory. My shift was over for the day and for once,I smiled all the way back home to Laila.It felt unreal....as if I had a peak in the world of the rich. Must be nice being the rich and graceful main characters right?

Can't imagine.
