Prisoner

The tardigrage is known as the most resilient animal on the planet. It had the ability to survive at the bottom of the cold sea floor, and in the vacuum of space. It has been found in the frozen artic, and in steaming volcanic mud pools. Most people assume that the tardigrade has some sort of superpower, allowing it to resist all that may harm it, but in truth, it follows the underlying principle behind evolution. Simple as it may sound, the tardigrades superpower is simply adaptability.

tap... tap... tap... tap...

The decent into the darkness was a slow and terrifying one. The halls were poorly lit, and the walls were grimy and ancient. On the ceiling lied a series of brass pipes that winded down the staircase, rusting away to the neglect this place faced. The floors were covered in dirt and grime, along with rat feces and fly maggots. Walking down the rusted staircase were a group of criminals, the most dangerous of all of them being a man named Finn, a twenty year old man who had been running a rebellious front against the Yourkian Empire.

Finn was in cuffs, wrapping both his ankles and his wrists together behind his back. He had been in penitentiary for a while now, so the malnutrition was visible from any point of view. His black and ragged hair hid his left eye and he had his bony back hunched over. The guard who was prodding finn with an electrical spear suddenly kicked the back of his right knee, sending him tumbling down the rest of the flight of stairs. Before he had time to wipe the rat feces off of his face the guard then pounded his head into the floor.

"Do you understand why you're here, rat?", the guard frothed. Quick to pick himself up, finn retorted saying "Is it because I kicked that douchebag sigma shins in? Or is it because of the lack of respect I show the athourities?"

A snicker was heard by one of the other prisoners, followed by the sound of a baton slapping someone in the stomach. The guard then picks finn up, and proceeds to grab him by the neck and slam him into the wall.

"You're here because you and your people do nothing for this place. You do nothing but tear it down" the guard yelled. "Creatures like you deserve to rot as corpses outside the walls."

In total, there were 10 uniformed guards, and 8 prisoners. The guards carried a variety of weaponry, including makeshift pistols, some standard issue gunpowder pistols that compare to the 21st century models, along with batons, electrical spears, and one even had a metal gauntlet. The captain of the platoon, noted by a sachel full of badges and medals was bolstering a golden age weapon on his hip, it had the shape of a triangular prism and shone with gilded gold and electronic etchings. In the center lied a bright ball of glowing blue energy, which was most likely a catalyst for his genetics to some degree.

As the final flight of the stairs was passed, a long hallway with a depressing, corroded metal door at the end of it came into view. As they approached it, they were able to see out of the small window, complete with three metal bars. The captain, who was leading the group through the staircase walked up to the door and proceeded to unlock it. The golden triangle at his hip and then come to life and then started floating around his head. The guards then proceeded to line up and throw the prisoners to the ground. The captain, warily looking around, proceeds to pull out a piece of parchment, and begins to relay the statement.

"For the henious crime of treachery and traitorous behavior, we have decided to release you into the wild, to be consumed by the feral beasts of old. They are forbidden from ever setting foot near Niw Yourk henceforth, and will be shot on sight if caught attempting to return.

Suddenly, a loud roar is heard distantly in the woods surrounding the walls. The officers begin to shout and they all run back through the door, locking it behind as they leave.

Finn wonders, silently, how had he reached this moment? Was it when he started to fight back? was it when he gained power for the first time? Well, unbeknownst to him, It had all began 2 years ago...
