16 Spring Tournament Finals

I couldn't write a chapter yesterday because of college work.

To apologize for the inconvenience I wrote 2 chapters today.

It had been a week since school started.

Rei was assigned to the 1-A class because he was a student who had gotten a scholarship based on his scores.

Previously, when Rei arrived in the class, he didn't find anyone familiar he had seen on the baseball field.

Currently, Rei was sitting in one of the seats at the back of the classroom. He was sighing because he couldn't believe he had to relive his high school days. The worse part was studying but thankfully with his predecessor's intellect, he could easily pass.

"Therefore, we can narrow down the possible answers to A and D for the first multiple choice questions", said the teacher while scribbling on the board.

Rei had his head down on the table because he didn't want to hear the stupid lecture. He was thinking of several ways he could improve his baseball and how he could execute his old skills.

The teacher scanned the classroom to find students who aren't paying attention.

Just then he saw a young man with his head down on the table.

The teacher approached the young man and yelled, "GET UP REI"

Rei looked up after hearing his name to find a teacher with a serious expression looking at him.

Rei scoffed at the teacher and put his head back down on the table.

"H-Hey don't just ignore me when I'm standing right next to you?", said the teacher.

One of the random kids who was sitting beside Rei in the classroom said, "It's no use, Teach. He's apparently on the baseball team".

"Nani", said the teacher surprisingly. He hadn't heard of this before.

Hearing that Rei was on the baseball team made all the other kids look at him with admiration.

"Really? That's amazing".

"Our baseball team is famous".

"I hear practice is really tough".

These were the comments his classmates said.

"You moron! That's exactly why I can't let it slide! Why would you even be eligible to join class A when you can't even fully pay attention in this class".

Rei ignored the teacher's comment and had his head down. Eventually, after some minutes he fell asleep.

When the teacher heard Rei's snores coming from the table he was dumbfounded.

Sighing he returned to his position and started teaching the other students.

In the baseball ground after school.

All the team members of the 1st string were sitting and listening to what Kataoka was explaining.

"I'm sure you guys all understand well", said Kataoka as he used the sand on the ground to draw with a stick which would make the players understand better.

"Compared to the biggest summer tournaments and the final individual, the spring prefectural tournament isn't very important. However, today we're up against the team we lost to in the fall, Ichidaisan High. We'll pay back the humiliation we reached tenfold!", said Kataoka menacingly.

"YESS", said all the 1st string members simultaneously.

"Yuki, do the usual.", said Kataoka.

After getting the order from the coach, Yuki did a cheer with the team to raise their focus and unite them before the match started.

"Our only goal is the national championships! Let's go.", said Yuki raising his arm.

As the Yuki did the final cheer all the team members raised their arms in the air along with him.

As the 1st string team was getting ready to leave for the spring tournament, the dugout near them had all the first years gathered.

All kinds of admiration were spread throughout the crowd. Some were envious and some decided to work even harder except Rei well you couldn't call him normal in many circumstances.

Sitting in the dugout, Rei smirked looking at the 1st string team that was leaving for their match.

Seeing this Rei had a sudden epiphany about something and started running with a tire attached to himself.

While Rei was running, he saw a scene from the anime playing out. He slowed down to watch it.

This scene in the anime was where Sawamura found his long-lost love, his tire. The same could be said for Rei since he uses his own special tire.

He passed Sawamura while he was talking to Haruno.

Rei had a lot of thoughts on his mind as he was running. Today when the 1st string members left for the tournament, he felt disappointed that he couldn't join them for now.

Well, he knew sooner or later he will be on the 1st string team.

As previously mentioned, Rei's goal, for now, was that he wanted to carry the team to Koshien and let them experience it.

Obviously, the 1st step toward reaching this goal would be that he becomes an ace.

"Watch out Sawamura and Furuya another person is aiming to become the ace", thought Rei while smirking.

Meanwhile in the spring tournament. A match was ongoing on the field.

Ichidaisan High Vs. Seido High

"Count is 1 ball, 2 strikes. We threw 2 in a row outside to bore the batter. Now, pitch a fast slider inside! Strike him out with your best pitch!", said the catcher from Ichidaisan High while using signs to converse with the pitcher.

The catcher moved and held the mitt to the side where he wanted the pitcher to pitch the ball.

The pitcher pitched as soon as he received a sign from his catcher.

"Yes! The perfect pitch!", said the catcher thinking that it was a strike.

Before the ball hit the mitt, Miyuki Kazuya, #2 swung his bat hitting the ball towards the fence.

"So that's the famous Miyuki Kazuya"

"Wow! He can turn an inside slider into a home run?!"

The audience was riled up and excited especially Seido's fans.

"Oops, it went out", thought Miyuki playfully as he ran touching all 4 bases.

The Ichidaisan High catcher's face was in shock.

"Yaahaa…you anticipated that pitch and swung for it! You made Manak speechless by hitting his best pitch right off the bat", said Kuramochi when he saw Miyuki in the dugout as he came back from touching the home plate.

Miyuki had a smug face as he heard the praises from Kuromochi.

"Pure Luck. It won't go the same next time as well", said Miyuki.

"Luck alone can't hit that pitch out of the park. Even you don't think it was luck!", said Kuromchi raising his leg to hit Miyuki's butt.

"Now, he'll be more reluctant to throw the slider. Aim for his fastballs", ordered Kataoka from the dugout.

Over the next few innings, Kuramochi batted and went on the base showing off his speed.

Kominato (Haruichi's brother) and Ishiki batted helping Kuromachi reach the home plate. They successfully got themselves a run.

Yuki also batted.

At Rei's side.

"I'm....so…...exhausted", said Rei panting while laying on the ground of the field. He kept thinking and running because of that he forgot to pace himself and got a cramp in his leg.

He stopped and rested only because of the cramp.

Speaking of running, now Rei could run with 2 tires attached. Which didn't make him feel proud of himself in fact it was the opposite because he was aiming to complete the daily quest which could raise his speed stat more.

The daily quest required a truck tire for it to be completed. 5 car tires equal 1 truck tire. So, he was far off for now.

This didn't mean that he didn't earn any stats at all. He earned around 0.1 after exercising the whole week. He only wanted to complete daily quests because he would earn more stats through them.

Rei stood up and tried putting pressure on his left leg where he had a cramp. He had been massaging it for a while now so he thought it would be fine.

He didn't feel any pain when he tried walking on it.

He shrugged thinking it was for the best that his cramp was gone now.

Since Rei had no cramps in his leg now, he thought of going back to running. He stopped until he saw something interesting that is.
