7 Chapter Seven | Emotional outburst

She didn't respond. Too overwhelmed to even move a muscle, Anna flung her head on the bed so that she was lying face down, next to her very forbidden, yet sexy, roommate.

"Where's my apple?"

She mumbled something inaudible, with her face pressed to the lushness of the bed.

"What?"

She rolled over, repeating her dead serious statement. "I said I'm not your maid, go get your apple yourself."

"Then you'd better not think of escaping the blame when my ulcer starts making me suffer in pain."

Her eyes widened, sitting up. "You have an ulcer? I didn't know. I'm so sorry, l-let get it for you."

Five minutes later, Anna walked into the room with a platter containing two apples, a piece of the strawberry cheese cake because luckily, the boys didn't finish it all up. She even brought with her a glass of lemonade, setting it on the nightstand.

"Thanks honey," he smirked mischievously, typing away on his laptop without looking at her, he brought the lemonade and gulped it down before settling it on the nightstand, he starts to bite into an apple when he looked up at Anna, now sitting on the bed crisscrossed, staring at him with those big hazel eyes of hers. "Er, is there a problem? Please don't tell me you poisoned the apple, waiting for me to choke and drop dead, because I will haunt your ass." He teased.

She rolled her eyes. "It's just that you have an ulcer and I acted like a complete bitch, how insensitive!"

"Pfft, worry not. I actually don't have an ulcer." He shrugged, biting another piece of the apple, and Anna suddenly wondered why she didn't poison the damn apple! Riley was a living proof of how she almost tripped and fall on her way to the room, and all the while the bastard was having an internal happy dance, wearing a pink tutu and shaking his butt. Okay, maybe that was a little too much, but whadda you think? She was pissed!

She picked up a nearby pillow and threw it at him, "You utter scumbag, how dare you!"

And he laughed, like laughing so hard tears were coming out from the edge of his eyes, "I can't believe you actually fell for that."

"How can you lie about that? It's not funny!" She harrumphed, getting off the bed. He was still laughing even as she made her way towards the walk-in closet to swiftly change into her pyjamas. She was still not used to living with a guy. The thought of him taking advantage of her made her edgy to no end. Well, good thing she can throw a punch, or can she? The pyjamas she chose had a purple flowery pattern, running a hand through her hair, she made her way towards the bed, suddenly conscious that his eyes were on her. "Why looking?"

"Nothing." He returned his attention back to the screen.

"Dimitri," When he looked up, she went on, "I would be more comfortable if this two conjoined bed were pushed apart, far apart actually."

"No, I don't like it that way."

"You do realised that you're telling me to sleep on the same bed as you, right?"

"Yes, why should you have a problem with that? It's what I want besides you did two things without my consent, and did you see me complaining? No!"

"What did I do?" Her eyebrows furrowed thinking of what she had done apart from living in his room and nothing seemed to click.

"First of all, you arranged my stuff, why do you think I left it scattered? For easy location whenever I'm in need of something, and secondly, you literally pushed a rail of my shirts and replaced them with your womanly clothes, so not only do I have to share a bedroom, a bathroom, I also have to share a closet with you, might as well share a bed with you, I mean, what difference does it make?"

"But that's the most intimate part!" She stomped her feet childishly.

"Anna," He sighed, rubbing his eyes with his fingers, only then did she realised how utterly worn-out he seemed, she almost felt a little sympathy for him, almost. "I'm not going to try anything you wouldn't approve of with you. Trust me."

"Well, I really hope you don't snore, drool, or roll me to the floor in your sleep."

"Why don't tonight be the judge of my sleep patterns." Her responded cockily, to which she scoffed.

Eventually, she climbed into the somewhat soft bed and then pulled the thick yet comforting duvet around her. "What are you working on?"

"Some article, due in two hours time."

"You look like you need some sleep though."

He smiled down at her. "I like it when you act like you care. Not to worry, I'll be done before you know it." At that, she turned the other side to hide her blush.

"In your dreams, Hunter."

Anna groaned at the blaring of the infernal sound that wouldn't quit. Her hazel eyes fluttered open adjusting from her slightly blurry vision after furiously slammed her hand down on the top of the clock. She immediately scrunched her eyes from the brightness of the daybreak that hit her face.

As the distant, chirping of birds caught her attention, so did she became aware of the weight on her, only then did she reached the full confirmation that she really was living in the same room with a guy whom she shared no bond with.

It could have had been quite easy, if not for the fact of what she woke up to. Her legs were tangled with his, and his arm was draped around waist. She could feel the heat of his bare back pressed against her clothed one. His warm breath was fanning the back of her neck. Sleep patterns, huh?

Anna stiffened. Never, with great emphasis, had she ever slept in the same bed with a guy. Sure she'd dated a boy back in her old town, but the highest they've ever got was a few kisses and hugs. Of course, she'd been resistive to further intimacy, if not, the guy wouldn't hesitate a second to have her panty down and legs spread open for him.

He never liked to cuddle, his was to get handsy and seductive. A full-on hormonal 17 year old, who dump her for her best friend the minute she announced leaving town. His claim was, long distance relationships and him don't go well.

Anna didn't know what got into her, maybe, just maybe she wanted to engage in something to take her mind off an ex-boyfriend like Jamey, or a back stabbing best friend like Stella, she factually took hold of Dimitri's arm in the most careful way possible, turning to face him, then once again let his arm rest on her body.

His long lashes fall dainty down his eyes, his mouth was slightly parted as he snored ever so softly, he looked peaceful lying there beside her. His long dark blond hair fell to his face somewhat covering his eyes, her hand went up to his forehead to brush the hair out of the way, but paused midway when she saw him stir a little.

She was about to rush out of the bed when his eyes opened in the most lazy yet oddly sexy way making her breath hitched. Why, just why, did she not get away from being close to him when she had the chance?

His eyes widened, seeing how rather intimate they looked, she almost didn't catch his mumbled sorry. Just as she was about to tell him it's okay, his next choice of words kept her mouth shut. "Shit! Of all days, today had to be when I slept in!" She watched as he frantically got out of the bed.

Oh, crap! If she had known... "I'm so sorry, Dimitri."

He stopped at the foot of the bathroom's door, glancing over his shoulder. "What for?"

"I might have switched off the alarm, it was noisy and―"

"You did what?" He turned to face her, if looks could kill, Anna would have been a rotten corpse by now, "What right do you have to do such a thing? Surely you're smart enough to know that an owner of a room who's got an alarm clock set is for the sole purpose of waking them up, but no, you have mess up my schedule. You see this is exactly the kind of thing I was trying to explain to Rafael, God! I hate meddling bitches!"

Anna flinched at the tone of his voice, and when the door banged shut, she couldn't contain the tears that fell out ever so freely. Her body trembled due to the impact of her emotional outburst. She just couldn't ignore the way his words hurt her deepest core.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Dimitri threw his hands up, his wet body was covered in a white towel that hung low to his waist, "Are you trying to make me feel bad after you deliberately wronged me?"

"Go fuçk yourself." She spat, throwing her legs to the floor and heading towards the door. God, he does have his way of making her ever so furious. Damn her stupid senses for actually liking his face, or the fact that they cuddled in their sleep. Someone's who's once a douche, will always be a douche.

She started opening the door, but his hand was quick to slam the door closed, he left it there, standing behind her when he was wet and shirtless, standing behind her, when she was well conscious of the heaviness of his breathing.

"Don't walk out on me when we're having a conversation Anna," his tone was but an icy whisper. "And especially not when you got the have the last words, which include a cuss thrown at me."

He turned her so she could face him, he inched closer, and when she tried to step back, the collision of her back against the door and the way his hands were pressed on either side of her head made her realised that she was cornered by Dimitri Hunter, and she wasn't immune to him standing this close to her.

But her anger supersedes anything, she gave his chest a hard push, he didn't even budge. "Get away from me, before―"

"Before what?" He stared into her eyes, "You know Anna, seeing you like this, crying because of something I might have said in the fit of anger cracked something in me, that I no longer felt any anger towards you, but towards myself for causing you pain."

"Pain?" She shook her head, "Please! Not even close, the tears I've shed were because of something I can't seem to control: My fate. Because if I have my way I wouldn't be stuck with an asshole like you, if I have my way, I would never have met you."

He staggered a bit, his arms falling to his sides, "I'm sorry."

She nodded, "Yeah, me too." then opened the door, but this time, he let her.
