11 No Magic? Impossible!

As Professor Gertrude kept calling students one by one and Professor Samuela holding and reading their palms for her to determine where the student's class would be, the other students looked at the professors who just came in just now, especially the last one that made all the seated professors stand up again to give him a small bow.

Four professors had arrived, and one old middle-aged man. For some reason, the middle-aged man sat in the middle and smiled at everyone.

His hair was black with white highlights. He has a mustache, and he wore a monocle. He was wearing a black cape behind him and he wore a suit. He seemed to be different from other professors as he exuded an air of sophistication, enigma, and sagaciousness.

Could he possibly be the headmaster?

"Elenea Griffin," Professor Gertrude called, making Elenea look at her twin sister then smiled at her.

She then walked up the stairs, then stopped in front of Professor Samuela.

She smiled at Elenea then held her hand then spoke.

"My!" Professor Samuela rubbed her thumb on Elenea's palm and her smile widened. "You have outstanding mana circling around you! What is your magic, Elenea?" she asked, making Elenea answer her.

"I can heal a person's wound and injury by singing a melody," she answered, making the students who heard her gasp in amusement.

"A healing power! That is indeed useful!"

"Yeah, it is! And she sings, too!"

"Kinda reminds you of Disney's Tangled, huh?"

"Oh, yeah, right!"

With Professor Samuela nodding, she placed her hand on Elenea's shoulder then looked at all of the students.

"Invicta!"

"Yeah!"

The students in Invicta class exclaimed, except for Zann who just sat there nonchalantly. Professor Gertrude got a robe from the Invicta box beside her then gave it to Elenea. She wore it and looked at how the proton purple outlines shined, making her smile.

'I'm in Invicta!'

As Elenea walked down the stairs, she smiled at Aranea. Aranea waved her hand at her twin sister as she sat beside the other Invictas around the table.

"Aranea Griffin."

Only Aranea was left in the middle of the room. The moment Professor Gertrude called out her name, she bit her lip as she nervously stole a glance of her twin sister from the corner of her eye.

She walked up the stairs slowly, making Professor Samuela look at her.

"Aranea Griffin, your hand, please," she requested, making Aranea nod once.

All eyes were on her as she gave Professor Samuela her hand, making her eyebrows furrow.

"Huh?"

There was bafflement on her face. Because of her reaction, it got the students' attention.

"This is... unusual," she mumbled, but it was enough for the other professors and for Aranea to hear.

"What do you mean, Professor Samuela?"Aranea asked, the professor not answering her question.

"Give me your left hand, please?"

The professors and the headmaster now looked at Aranea with wonder in their eyes. Even the students who were murmuring stayed silent when they heard what Professor Samuela had said.

She had never requested to see the other hand of the student. Could she have seen something unusual or different to make her ask Aranea to show her the other hand?

Zann's eyes turned serious as his fist on the table tightened, making Elenea in front of him look at him from the corner of her eye.

'Why has he been eyeing my sister and why was he so rude towards her a while back? My sister and I never knew who this Zann is. Could she?'

Elenea looked back at her sister whose palm was still being read by Professor Samuela. The professor sighed as she shook her head, her thumb rubbing on her left palm.

"I could not sense anything at all," she said, making others gasp, and the other professors creasing their brows in wonder. "What is your magic, Aranea, dear?" she asked, silencing the great hall once more as they waited expectantly for Aranea to answer.

"Honestly, I don't have any magic."

When they heard her answer loud and clear, every student in the Great Hall could no longer help but erupt in a noisy chatter.

"No magic? Impossible!"

"How can that be?"

"I thought Mystic Academy only invited students who have been born with magic."

"Can normal people be invited to the academy?"

"Are you stupid? Of course not!

"If normal people were to enroll here, how could they even learn our subjects?"

"It's impossible for the academy to commit such errors."

"What if the academy committed one now?"

"Ridiculous!"

"Mom said this academy has been around before they were even born! How can they make a mistake now?"

"Ha! If she really doesn't have any magic, how can she cope?"

"I bet she'll be dead meat."

"Hey! She was one of the students who was attacked by a Simurgh, right?"

"Oh, yeah!"

"A person with no magic but dared provoke a Simurgh?"

"How stupid!"

Seeing how the students are noisy and couldn't stop talking about Aranea, her twin sister looked at them with angry eyes as she bit her lip, almost making it bleed.

Her fists that were under the table started trembling as she tried her best to stay calm and not make any ruckus as they are still new in the academy.

'How dare they speak about Aranea that way!?'

Suddenly standing up from his seat as he slammed both of his hands on the table, the sound echoing in the room. The headmaster shouted, his voice resounding with power.

"Silence!"

In an instant, the room fell into a deafening quietness. The headmaster gave the students a death stare as he walked over slowly to Aranea who was still standing in front of the other instructors and the whole students.

"I'll take it from here, Professor Samuela," the headmaster said, making her nod and step aside.

"Yes, Headmaster Gavin," she said then the headmaster started circling around Aranea, making her look down as she felt embarrassed and awkward with the attention everyone was giving her.

Noticing the bow hanging behind her, Headmaster Gavin stopped and touched it, making Aranea stiffen her body.

"You know how to use this weapon?" he asked, making the girl nod.

"Y-yes, Headmaster."

Headmaster Gavin stopped in front of Aranea then held her hand. When her palm started glowing, everyone waited expectantly as gold stardust started to surround her palm, making Gavin's eyes widen in surprise.

Everyone was dumbfounded, too! The seniors and the professors rarely saw Headmaster Gavin astonished!

What could he have seen to make him look this way?

"Curious," he mumbled, making him smile mysteriously at Aranea, but there was no malice in it.

"Aargh!"

Zann's groan was suddenly heard in the room, making everyone, even the Headmaster look at him.

He was holding his head as if he felt an excruciating pain that was unbearable to him, making the students beside him and in front of him look at him with worry.

"Zann, are you okay?" Elenea asked, as everyone still continued to look at him.

Ignoring the worries of his classmates, Zann stood up as he walked away from everyone and left the Great Hall, making Professor Samuela follow him.

"Zann, wait!"

The students and professors couldn't understand what was happening. Their attention shifted back to Headmaster Gavin who was still in front of Aranea. He then put his hand on her shoulder, then spoke, surprising everyone about her class.

"Peculiari."
