57 Trapped-part seven-confusion

"Powers, what powers?" Clarence asked.

"Well, some…not all…" The man stated.

Hovering over Steel coming to consciousness lifting herself up from the concrete, her hands unfurl igniting a bright pink seal spell barrier.

"You got to run, idiot!" Steel shouted.

"I can't leave you!" Clarence argued.

Clarence side steps lightly dashing away from the man while Steel bid time for him to leave, he never realized she had an ability. He wondered to himself what he could even do running as fast as his legs would carry him.

He bumped into someone looking up, everything was still frozen. Everyone is still frozen.

"As long as everyone is still frozen…means I am not free!" Clarence whispered.

Running back everything starts running again normally, people going about their normal lives. The clamor of cars and people speaking returned to orderly fashion amongst those who are here.

He glanced back and forth, he was sure this is where they were at, cars honked at him pushing him off the roadway stumbling to the sidewalk nearly hopping on one foot he gawked around the place to see if they were still around.

Feeling upset he didn't know what to do, almost doing a complete spin confused, he darted a safer distance in case nearly out of breath.

"Mateo is gonna kill me…"

Later in the afternoon, he makes it back to the hospital where Mateo and Silas were, Clarence standing in the doorway gasping for air.

"Dad! Mateo! Steel…Steel…" Clarence sobbed.

"Where is Steel?" Mateo shouted.

He couldn't speak, big globby tears fell to the floor. He felt unable to contain his grief, disappointed in what had happened Mateo bent down to hug the distraught boy as Silas stood

above them.

"No more going alone, they might come after you next…" Mateo stated.

"Please let me help you find Steel!" Clarence asked.

"It's best you stay here Clarence…okay?" Mateo affirmed.

"This is my fault though!" Clarence explained.

"Listen to your father Clarence…you might get hurt," Silas stated.

"Please rest…" Mateo said.

Clarence gave a loud sigh strolling to his room, he could hear them speaking in low tones upon his departure. He didn't know where to start looking even if he tried, flopping down on the bed his view was turned to the small window dressed nicely with the curtain.

He would fall asleep later waking deep into the night, his fangs panged with a dull pain. A note had been slid under the door halfway. Sliding it out to retrieve a small vial under the door gap with enough blood to last him a day.

Plucking the hard plastic piece on the top he downs it quickly, Clarence tries to open the window drawing his nails under the available space in every attempt to draw it up. Ambling out of the room he caught Silas up writing notes.

"I know you are a vampire, but you should be resting kiddo." Silas declared.

"I am going after Steel!" Clarence yelled.

"Let the adults handle this Clarence, you are still learning…what can you do for her?"

"Not much yet...but–" Clarence is interrupted.

"If you can fight me, I will let you go." Silas grinned.

"F-fight you?" Clarence said nervously.

Silas throws his suit coat off to the side letting his feet dance on the solid ground, swiftly his motion picks up bringing two of his fingers to the side throwing them at Clarence. Sigils glisten dark brown, rotating gradually.

The simplest movement he guards his best against Clarence's failed attack only to be knocked to the ground, stumbling to his feet he gets back up ramming his fist against Silas only to be thrust back by his spell manifesting in front of Clarence's counter.

"Clarence, you have nothing and that's okay." Silas smiled.

"I don't understand…what am I doing wrong?" Clarence answered.

"You haven't found your mark yet," Silas explained.

"How will I find it?"

"You will know when it comes to you little one."

"I see…"

The phone rang muffled in Silas's pocket, hauling it out of his pocket Clarence stared blankly listening for seconds before his new father took the mobile device tossing it across the floor.

"Why…did you do that?" Clarence asked.

Terrified of the man's carelessness he goes back to his desk ignoring the ringing, Clarence takes the phone promptly. Setting the cell phone on his table afterward he stays stagnant.

"Maybe something will come to me…" Clarence commented.

Racing out Silas jumped to his feet, Clarence's presence had dissipated from sight. He was unsure what would happen to his newly adopted son and experimented in the hands of Shimon how he picks the kids out as they get older.

"Shimon better not do anything…" He growled.

Ria appeared out of nowhere nearly giving the old man a heart attack, her face flushed from running regardless of the broom hanging out at her hip.

"I just saw Clarence! Dad, why are you letting him go?" Ria scolded.

"He has nowhere else to go even if he can't touch Shimon…"

"I am going after Clarence, please get the ER ready for him…Shimon isn't going to go easy on him now." Ria stated.

"No!"

"Father?"

"He is my kid…I am taking him back myself Ria…"

Holding his hand to the side his green bamboo encased broom comes into sight, holding tightly to his sweeper. He glided the brush along the crevices of the tiles in long motions letting the bristles stiffen pushing out floating up on the last heavy stroke.

Ria hopped on the back of the sweeper, Silas shoved her away from fully mounting, giving her a smile.

"Ria, I need you to hold down the fort please…"

"Bring my brother home then!"
