17 The next

On the second day in the household I now share a room with Dominique, Chara has her own room that is connected to the back of the kitchen. It is tiny but serviceable.

Saniya doesn't want us together unless she could help it, right now we are biding time before deciding to send me off back to my clan without Chara in tow.

Despite not becoming a vampire yet the mark intensified my daily motions of life, sometimes I feel detached from myself to the point I would sit for hours staring. I generally don't realize it till Chara or someone else asks me if I am okay.

Lethargy is also starting to affect my life deeply, being up during the day is getting harder for me day in and day out. The pain in my left eye increases depending on the day and time.

Saniya and Dominique often will bring food for us to consume or make, Chara I learned can consume small amounts of human food before needing blood which I readily offer any time I am available to her.

I heard cackles and howls outside from the forest surrounding the area, clacks of brooms and laughter rose high into the sky. Saniya, dressed in a long black robe, was reaching for the door as we stood by.

"Christian, Chara you are coming with me tonight," Saniya explained.

"What's going on?" I asked.

The sky is red and the magick is flowing. We can go into the human world if we wish to, but that isn't what we are doing." Saniya stated.

"We are going to the center of the town today…" Dominique announced.

"What is in the center of the town?" Chara pondered out loud.

"We are contacting a friend that can help us get close to your clan Christian," Saniya affirmed.

"What are you saying?" Chara interrupts.

"Someone else in the guild isn't so loyal." Dominique answers.

An image of the doctor who tended to me flashes before me, I bow my head in pain to the new information given to me.

"The doctor…" I mumble.

Dominique looked my way, I knew he heard me afterward. Saniya dashes into her room to come out with an extra broom and a set of clothes in hand.

She throws the broom to Chara, she gingerly hands me the clothing.

"You need a charming new look," Saniya tells me.

Lifting the pieces up I view black slacks, a blue long shirt, and a vest? She wants me in a monkey suit I thought.

"You need to look like a vampire you idiot!" Dominique responds.

I gawk over at him like a deer caught in headlights, did he just read my mind I thought?

"I will just get dressed already…" I replied.

Getting changed as soon as possible I exit the bathroom to have Chara latch her hands around my elbow dragging me to the door where Saniya is.

"You look as well as I perceived you would be!" She said licking her lips.

Instantly blushing I say nothing back being led outside, Saniya takes my hand drawing me away from Chara as Dominique had already mounted on the back on her floor brush.

They take off before Saniya has a chance to swipe her broom against the grain of the good earth. She stops motioning in a long pause.

"I actually wanted them to take off first…."

"Are you okay?" I asked timidly.

"I am, but I wanted time alone with you so I told Dominique to scoot over."

"Time with me?" I questioned.

"We located ahead vampire willing to turn you, Christian, after the meeting you will be staying with temporarily." Saniya points out.

"I see…" I replied, "I will obey."

"I am a witch and there is no way Dominique will teach you…you need to take it seriously. He is a harsh teacher and will not go easy on you Christian."

"This is all a ploy to use me right?" I add.

"Do you recall when you lost control at the witch's cabin?" She inquired.

I only nod thinking back to how the simplest of despair led me to act violently, I know deep inside I am changing much too quickly and could be dangerous around normal people.

"I do…"

"Even if you hate me, allow me to give you some benefit from that hate." She states.

"If that is so then I will come back better than Dominique Saniya." I spout.

"Don't get too cocky Christian, you are still human."

Grabbing my hand she flips it over to show my palm, she takes her pointer finger slowly tracing the fine lines, it tickled so much I had to hold my breath.

She gazes into my eyes before changing directions holding her broom in hand making large sweeping motions against the dirt, grass, and air.

It catches the air hovering slightly above the ground, She mounts patting the back of her sweeper. I get on for her to grasp my hands wrapping them around her waist.

We gradually lift ascending to the sky, we reach the clouds before we know it where she begins to speed up till we spot high rising buildings peek through a stream of vapor.

Pulling out a small pair of binoculars she scans the town below, clutching me tightly making sure I cling to her back. Aiming her broom down she makes herself earthwards on her descent as fast as she could.

Darting past buildings, houses, stores, and swinging past signs dodging everything in sight, children point at us as parents never see a thing within their limited worldly view, I get a chance to wave at them from above as we drastically drop lower.

We land perfectly on the streets I hop off, Saniya retracts swaying the broom to her side marching away. I follow close behind on our journey to meet the secondary traitor in the Everett clan.

I gawk at the boutiques, chains of shops I have never seen before, and small markets on the side of the walk. Saniya would glance behind to see if I was still there at times.

"It's not far from here." She notes.

Stopping in front of a small deli we enter, a series of bells tied together jingle coming inside to visit. Saniya takes the small bell smashing on the counter instead of pressing gently.

"Saniya, ring that damn bell again and I will kill you myself!" The voice countered.

"I am sorry I am late Theo!" She shouted.

Bending over the worktop she peers inside, I snatch her by her long robe yanking her down to prevent her from falling over. She glanced at me storming off.

"You are acting like a kid Saniya!" I said.

A man even slightly taller than me approached us from the other side, he had messy red hair pinned back into a ponytail. He had a pentagram charm hanging from both sides of his curled bangs.

He was taking off his yellow apron to reveal a normal gray shirt and skinny jeans, his slender amber yellow eyes were captivating.

"Theo where are the rest at?" Saniya asked.

"In the back, have you forgotten?" Theo replied.

"Must have slipped my mind, come Christian!" She shouted.

We slip back into the small room shaped a perfect square, a bunch of flimsy chairs scattered in an imperfect circle. I find the Doctor sitting there with her legs crossed.

She sneaks a small grin at my appearance, Chara and Dominique make crude gestures making it worse. I take a seat beside Saniya.

"Now, we have some things to plan!" Saniya announces.
