Chapter 2 - Three new Parents

Once they arrived at home his stalling was over. The house itself was a small 2-bedroom home. The home was neat and orderly. It was small but rather felt cozy rather than cramped. The positive feeling of the people who lived here was easily seen. This home and their pension were what was given to the veteran couple. They could not live lavishly but would always have a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.

To have more flexibility Chole offered to find work but was instead denied by his commanding officer. Margarette also retired stating she needs to take care of her husband. Who could not be trusted to eat cereal properly.

Currently, Michael was sitting in a chair facing the couple and the newborn. The newborn looked at Michael with a smile that said he knew Michael would help them.

Michael could help but say "Such a precious child."

Michael never coveted the baby's intelligence he wanted him to always be happy and this is why he was so urgent when leaving the hospital. The couple was so engrossed with their happiness that they did not notice the baby has not cried since he started to breathe. He kept smiling, happy to be with his family. His level of intelligence was even greater than theorized.

Michael started,

"Ok, first I already know your baby's power. Its advanced thought."

Michael held his hand up and said,

"Wait till I am done."

Then he stood up and asked to hold little Terra.

Margarette handed the baby to him. Even now she can tell something was wrong. The moment she moved Terra close to Michael, he grabbed her head like a hug and then reached for Michael.

Margarette was stunned.

Michael did not bother confirming her suspicions and began again.

"Ok kid you are Terra Parvus. That's your mother Margarette Parvus. That's your father Chole Parvus. And I am your Uncle Michael Intium. I am your mother's childhood friend. And your father's best friend. Currently, your head is gonna be too hard for you to move . So instead move your right hand up and left hand down if you understand. "

Seeing this Chole was about to speak up and say he how would a baby understand that, but ended up holding his mouth.

Terra did the exact motion Micheal requested.

Michael looked at his friend with a smug expression. The said as if he read his mind.

"Terra is smarter than you so don't worry."

Chole became confused. He was happy to see his son being praised but being dumber than a newborn felt kinda bad.

Michael who abolished him also saved him.

"hahaha don't worry our little Terra is even smarter than me too."

Margrette realized,

"So this is why we needed to leave the hospital"

Michael nodded his head and said,

"His intellect is too prominent and obvious. He would have attracted too much attention too fast. I don't feel comfortable being in this country with him but we will stay here for a few years."

Chole made a frown and asked,

"Why does it sound like you are gonna take Terra?"

Michael replied and looking at Terra

"My dear child your head may hurt dealing with your idiot dad but don't stop loving him ok. We will all be leaving for the country of Versailles. If either of your remains it is possible to use you two to control Terra. "

Chole frowned even harder. To be means to harm his son, it would be better for him to die.

Margrette had this thought already when Terra responded to Micheal.

At this point, Terra made the understands sign again.

Margrette said,

"So countries will come after him because of his intelligence and use it for their purposes. Yes, I can understand an intellect's war potential is higher than an idiot with a powerful power."

Micheal said,

"That's not all, the ones that theorized about advanced thought stated, because of the nature of the ability the possessor will have multiple abilities. His power in itself means understanding the reason behind things. And many scientists believe that this has to do with our minds and perceptions. Therefore a person that understands the reason beyond many things. Will be able to understand how someone's powers are working. He would perhaps be able to mimic their abilities or even stop them from activating. We can even theorize further that he would be able to answer the largest question of all. Why are we the only species on Earth to here to have varied different abilities? So to summarize it. Our guy will not only be intelligent he will be more powerful than anyone else. haha. "

Margarette and Chole noded happy that their child would be powerful meaning in this world where war is not a distant memory he will be more safe, but also grateful to Michael that he saved Terra from being made use of.

Chole asked

"So when do we leave?"

Margrette and Michael rolled their eyes. They thought now he wants to go.

Michael said,

"Well, whatever, not yet there are a lot of eyes on me there so until Terra is older and able to control himself better we will remain. I believe at least 3 years. I also want him to start being able to study there faster "

Chole asked,

"Why he will already be super smart by the time he starts school at the academia."

Micheal sighed again and looked at little Terra and said.

"He is really dumb I am so sorry. But keep loving him ok. "

Terra moved his right hand up and left hand down.

Micheal clarified.

"Currently Terra has no powers except advanced thought. There has not been a single person without any ability no matter how small, in recorded history. So this is even more dangerous. Since he would be the first person without powers he will instantly become a lab rat. I couldn't even tell you how many of my colleagues wish they find someone without powers. So they can compare an average person to them. So I will try to get him to understand you two's power first. Since your blood relatives it would be similar to a child learning their 'mother tongue' ... maybe."

Margrette said

"You don't sound so convinced."

Micheal agreed

"I am not. A case like Terra's is the first one I ever heard about. Until now his power was just an idea a couple of scientists high on LSD thought up. Even if his power is unprecedented. The fact that he is yours and Chole's son makes me feel relieved. You both hate war. Even before becoming soldiers on the frontlines you hated war, and even more so after. I do not doubt that he will become a peacemaker and not a warmonger."

All three lost their families to war. And would not wish that upon their worst enemies.

Michael continued

"But enough of all that heavy stuff the most important reason: why we will wait three years before heading to the academy is something else. Regardless of what happens, I refuse to allow his situation from taking away his childhood. I want to play with my precious Terra. "

Margrette laughed,

"At the end, his true thoughts came out"

Chloe smiled and teasingly said,

"Hey don't steal my baby. I want to play with him."

Margrette thought if we can just stay like this forever how nice would it be?

All of Terra's items were moved into his parent's room. Michael said he can just sleep on the floor but the commander refused. She said he was not just family but also Terra's instructor. He needed to be respected.

This made Micheal feel helpless. He knew there was no stopping this woman when she put her foot down.

The next day right after breakfast Micheal wrote a letter to the academy.

Dear Headmistress,

I will be staying with my family for some time and will not be able to come back for a while. I would like to convey to you that I am still a proud professor at the Academy of Varsellie. And will be back as soon as I can.

Dr. Michael Intium

P.S. My nephew is cuter than yours.

The letter was written in a way that only the headmistress understood its true words. Someone who was also a comrade in The Great War. She knew Margarette and his best friend were having a baby and this is why he ran to, Engleland to be with them.

All three were orphans and he met Chole when he saved him after their camp was bombed in an Air Raid. Chole was under Margrette's squadron. This is why Micheal worked hard to save him to prevent his friend from being sad. The headmistress was another doctor named Anne Jackson from the Blue Striped. As allies, they often worked together to save lives and all 4 became close friends. Jane was his subordinate at the time as well.

Compared to what the message read its actual meaning was more direct. What he actually means is that he won't come back for a while. Something happened to Margrette so he will stay with them now. He does not wish to be recruited by any nation so she should parade about as if he was the academy's. And the final most important detail he let her know about is that Terra is probably strong.

Chole asked with a hint of worry

"You sure she is trustworthy?"

Micheal laughed

"Don't remember that super uptight woman. In front of the student, she becomes a cute Aunty. There are many reasons to trust her beside her nature to be so upstanding it's annoying. She left the powerful Jacksons and joined as the head of the academy. Of course the head of their medical department just up and leaving pissed everyone off, but she did not bat an eye. She did this for one reason. She remembers the face of every soldier's eyes she closed. She never wants to close another set of eyes younger than her again. She was the one to push the whole academy idea, to begin with. The best hope for Terra to grow would be to let him be guided by the academy. Plus Margrette has kept up with her training she is stronger than she was during the war. She would be a great guard captain and you guys can watch on sides as your son shines."

Chole sighed and was just worried after he lost his leg. He feels that besides worrying he can't do anything else.

Micheal squeezes his shoulder and says.

"Let's go Terra should wake up soon."

Terra's body is still a baby's so he needs to eat every 2 hours. So Margrette sleeps when Terra does while Micheal and Chole take turns staying awake. Micheal should be asleep at this point but when Margrette's unable to cook, if he doesn't all three would starve. Or would die in a fire if Chole uses the microwave.

Micheal then said.

"Uhh dealing with newborns is annoying but the obedient Terra is even worse he won't even cry when he needs to be changed you would just have to check him. He is too cute and obedient I feel like dying."

Chole laughs,

"Even having a genius child has its problems. The nuns would say I didn't stop crying until I was 5 years old."

Michael looks at him like he was looking at a bug then says,

"You still cry"

Chole instantly becomes defensive,

"That was a touching moment you ass my kid was born"

Michael put his knuckle to his chin and said,

"Oh yah that time too, but I meant when I took you two to that play."

Chole freezes up and then asked in a whisper,

"You mean at that comedy"

Michael acted like he just remembers the general,

"Oh yeah it was a comedy, huh, now tell me dear friend why did you cry while watching a comedy"

Chole said

"I don't know please don't ever bring it up in front of Terra. "

Micheal looked like he just made an evil plan. Chole didn't see the expression his friend made he thought he was safe. When they walked in they saw Terra sitting on Margrette's lab waiting for them. When Terra saw them he smiled brightly knowing all his needs were gonna be taken care of. Chole and Michael sighed. And as if it was their assigned role Micheal took Terra and Chole went to wake up his wife.

Micheal asked

"Did you need a diaper change"

Terra smiled and showed him 2 fingers.

Micheal sighed again and said

"Kiddo you need to let your mom know you're hungry and you pooped. Otherwise, you would just have to wait until your dad or uncle came."

Terra pointed at Micheal.

Micheal sighed and said understanding, he will wait.

"Your thick-headed like your mom huh? You're just gonna wait for us to get you?"

Terra made a fist and nodded its head. Micheal changed him and cleaned him.

Micheal warned,

"You know if you do not listen to your uncle I'm gonna tickle you"

Micheal starts playing with him when Chloe comes back.

Micheal asked

"You milked the cow."

Margarette's voice came back from the background,

"I heard that you bastard"

Chole laughed and picked up Terra and started feeding him. He asked Micheal,

"Why don't you sleep a little bit early for your turn?"

Michael replied with a refreshed smile

"No playing with Terra and you is too fun. It feels like when Margarette and I are were kids at the church."

Chole smiled happy that his friend had a good childhood.

And just like that, a few weeks go by.

In the past few weeks, Margarette and Chole were shocked by what they saw their son do. Not only did he learn simple sign language by Micheal but he also learned to count and read.

He still did not have enough motor functions to lift his head or talk but communication was not hard anymore.

Chole felt so inferior to Terra that he almost cried. It took Terra just a few days of practice to learn sign language but Chole was still learning it. Terra even now could be seen patting his father's head to encourage him.

Michael would do this to Terra when he did something good and it felt good so when Chole was struggling he would pat him with his tiny hand.

Michael and Margarette are standing by the side laughing while Terra was teaching his father.

Michael says to his childhood friend,

"That idiot is making me jealous that I m not dumb hahaha"

Margrette replies,

" I know right"

Margrette looks at her friend and says,

"Thank you so much, Michael, we have nothing to offer you, but you have done so much. Especially for me throughout our life, you were always there for me. Thank you so much."

Michael smiled and says

"Give me Terra and we will call it even haha."

Margrette laughed,

"Not on your life hahaha"

Margrette's face becomes a bit serious and asks Micheal

"How is it going out there?"

Michael sighs,

"In the Striped Blues, they are arresting anyone 'suspected' to be a spy. On the Red Isles, they are just killing 'spies' on sight"

Margrette grinds her teeth and says

"Then we might see another war soon then. "

Michael makes a statement that confused Margrette.

"No"

Seeing her confusion he says,

"Apparently both sides have found people or a person with enough power to total a city. We don't know how they know this. Maybe they used someone who can gauge powers. Because that many casualties couldn't be hidden no matter what they did. But their powers are real and worst yet unlike the faction leaders. We have no idea what these people look like. Which makes them even more dangerous. "

Margrette says,

"Both sides at the same time have new powers that are able to level cities, isn't that hard to believe such confidence exists?"

Micheal said,

"Says the mother of a newborn who is teaching his father sign language. haha"
