Academy of Heroes and Villains

My world is divided into two sides- light and dark, good and bad, and heroes and villains. But sadly, I don't belong to either of those sides. I am a Normal. Not by fate but by choice. I don't work for a hero or a villain. I am someone who doesn't use any superpowers. I am someone who is looked down upon in my academy. The academy- a place where everyone dreams to become great. But I just want to live unnoticed. It all started when I received a letter- sent by me from the future. Vachi is a Normal, studying in the Academy of Heroes and Villains. She isn't studying how to save the world or how to destroy it. She is learning how to troubleshoot problems when the so-called heroes and villains make trouble. It sounds good, right? But she isn't really a Normal more like an undercover one. She has a superpower she intends on hiding till she dies. But will she be able to study in the academy hiding her powers and also saving the world? Who wants to expose her secret? And is the academy really saving them from the chaos that will be unleashed later?

Villains are more villainous than you expect

And I've never lost yet

Even if you let

Me on my way to get

Your luck, mate

I will only reset

Your experience will have to wait

And you will not become great

You will always have a lot on your plate

I'm the weaver of your fate

Vachi was troubled. Because she was facing a situation she did not know how to solve. A well at the back and the edge of a cliff at the front, she had no way out. So, she did the only thing she could do at that time.

She played a tv show and started watching it.

The show was cliched but she immensely enjoyed it. Apparently, it was adapted from a comic of the same name. The plot of the story revolved around three characters- the hero, the heroine, and the hero's brother. Apparently, the hero's brother wasn't satisfied by the idea that the heroine would also become a part of the hero's life. So, he kept fighting with her. And that created a series of funny events.

Vachi was so immersed that she didn't know how much she was going to suffer later because she was being observed. There was a phantom which kept watching her and when it realized that she was going to do nothing, it left.

The phantom didn't know that it probably missed what it was waiting for.

Vachi created an online chatroom in the Connectain network of the college and invited all the Normals.

There weren't many people, only ten.

And they were very happy to join.

[Vachi speaks]: Hello fellow Normals. This is a forum created for us, by us, to help us. You can say anything here and will never be judged. We have to have a strong front to deal with the OTHERS in the academy or we will be all bullied. All your thoughts, ideas, and even gossip are welcome here.

Sugandh and nine others heart your post.

Vachi was satisfied to see this reaction. Next, she had to see their introductions.

[Sugandh]: I am Sugandh, a Normal like you. My family has many sidekicks and we work in the perfume business.

That's why his name resonated with his family business, Vachi thought.

[Kal waits for none]: I'm Kal. I didn't awaken any ability but I'm happy to join this academy. My family couldn't afford my schooling but I'm here on a scholarship.

Great. It looked like Kal was from the other side of their world, the Normal world.

Then how did he get permission to come here? Because it wasn't related to her, she couldn't ask him.

Before she could read anything else, she felt a bad premonition.

As often as these things go, Vachi knew to act stupid at once.

She quickly summoned her Connectain and closed it with her blinks. It was at that moment, a spectacle occurred before her.

A piece of paper floated before her and it strayed into her vision. She took a step back and the paper seemed to watch her movements. After confirming something, words started appearing on it.

You can talk to me. But I will write my words here. Understood?

Why did this tone sound like that arrogant jerk? Vachi thought to herself.

"Who are you?"

Looks like you forgot my deal.

It really was that arrogant jerk. Why did she have to witness his killing and had to accept his bidding now? She wanted to turn her face away but she couldn't. He managed to blackmail her pretty well.

"Oh, it's you. I thought it was some ghost trying to communicate with me. Whatsup?"

The paper paused for a moment before writing appeared on it as if the sender was contemplating something.

As I said, I need you to find someone.

"Oh, who is it?"

Vachi was not interested in this. But again, it sounded easy. If she could get this done, she wouldn't have to work for this person and then she would be free to build her kingdom. That made her more responsive and eager to finish the task.

"Okay boss, who is it? Name, appearance, address. Whatever you know is fine with me."

This time the reply was fast.

"He should be good-looking. And he should have powers."

Whay did it tell? Nothing. Was this some kind of headless hunt?

"You should give me something specific right?"

"He should not be in our grade. And you should get the same vibe from him like me."

"Should not be? That doesn't seem certain. So, I have to check the people in our class too. And what do you mean by vibe?"

Don't act stupid. I know that your powers are related to intuition. You will find him easily.

What else could she say? She managed to get herself into this precarious situation. She had to listen to herself, the one from the future had clearly warned her to stay hidden. And she had to listen to this devil for that to happen. Once she finds something of value from him, she will make him pay.

The paper then disappeared. Gone. He didn't say goodbye. How rude!

Anyway, she was really scared and worried so she fell asleep. Not knowing that her little group was bubbling with rebellious Normals.

On the other side, Adi threw away a paper similar to the one before Vachi. The paper on Adi's side was however torn in the middle and had yellowed edges.

He looked at the night sky and wondered how much more he could take before he finally faced them. Would he kill them or will he die for them?

His whole life, he had fantasized about them. But his expectations were broken when he learned the truth.

Truth is expensive. But he was ready for it. And the truth didn't disappoint him. All his fears were true. He was an abandoned child. He was not loved. And nobody wanted him to be born.

He could only laugh at his destiny. What else could he do? He couldn't save his mother when she turned into a tree. He couldn't keep her sane when her mind was being eroded. He was not enough.

Adi clenched his fists. Why? Obviously, both of them were the same. Who were they to decide which one of them got powers? What divination could exclude a child from his family?

Maybe he was a sinner in his past lives. Otherwise, he wouldn't be in a living hell now.

He wanted to know how his twin brother was doing. Did he know that he had an elder brother he never knew? Did he look like him? But those questions couldn't get answers.

Because his brother would never know about him. Adi didn't want to tell him about his life. He remained unknown because he didn't want his brother's life to be shaken up. And they wouldn't look the same because his face was changed by his so-called family.

Adi never knew what his true appearance was. He didn't know so he couldn't judge who his brother was as their twin bond was also sealed. His mother was banned from speaking or revealing their names. What kind of hatred would make them want to torture her to this extent? She knew everything but couldn't tell their names and identities. She couldn't reveal a clue and watched him like a car with no navigation.

But he wasn't going to take this without fighting. He had a new helper now. He knew she could find his brother. Because he saw the same kind of breath from her. She was like him.

Someone with a secret. Secrets are wealth and helpful in desperate times. And he was desperate enough to use her to achieve his goals.

He just needed his brother to save his mother.

A comet appeared in his vision and he sighed. Astronomical phenomena could foretell the future but he was not good at it. But the stats alignment was in his favor for now.

And that's all he needed.

Vachi didn't know that her employer had plotted against her in this way. Even if she knew, she would plot against him in a more serious way. She was already plotting against him. She had decided to use the contacts she made for him to double-cross him later. No matter how noble his purpose was, he shouldn't have plotted against her.

And in the distant future, a white-cloaked person stepped on a familiar path and located the person in black who had fainted on the ground.

He sighed and picked her up.

"You are so desperate to change the future. I'm so jealous. Why should he get all your care and love when I'm always alone? No matter what, you shouldn't risk your life. You know who wants to kill you and you still do this. Vachi, sometimes you are so clueless that I want to knock you on your head."

He smiled and then disappeared.

The whole place became quiet and no evidence was left about what had transpired here.
