47 Unsettling

The next day, Allen had been requested to have breakfast with the Drakos but he respectfully declined, feeling exhausted from the night before.

"2 more months and 24 days." Allen said, checking the calender. He had longed for the day he would've been allowed to return to the upperworld but all his desperation faltered when he realized that he had nobody left up there to meet and share his adventures with.

However, even without the people he loved being alive, he still felt the need to return for another important matter. The Throndsen Family and his revenge after he acquired the strength to do so.

Allen didn't feel impatient about having to endure years and years in an academy just to study about conjuring magic, he knew that it needed to be done. In his state, without relying on his special powers gifted by his mark, he was dead weight.

"Afterall, good things take time." he said with a small smile before leaving his room and making his way to the front door of the palace.

Knights that were guarding the door in case of unwelcomed guests jolted when they saw Allen walking towards them. The knights started sweating unconsciously and their breathing shortened when the prince got nearer to them, but to their surprise, Allrn ignored them and made his way to the door and left the palace without a word.

Allen then followed a pathway he surprisingly remembered and made his way through a familiar forest, only to arrive at a large field with a huge building behind it that was almost a quarter the size of the palace itself.

It was the knight's headquarters, people who were busy slashing and clashing weapons against each other immediately dropped their swords when they felt a chill down their spine, as if they were being watched closely.

Some knights turned around to locate the threat, only to find Allen who was leaning his back against the tree, watching them carefully with his cat-like red eyes that were glimmering with interest.

The knights immediately by instincts got on one of their knees and bowed down respectfully to the prince. The other knights eventually caught on to why they were kneeling and did so too.

Allen walked up to the knights that were still kneeling, not sure why they did it so formally, he paused and sighed, making the knights around shiver in fear, they could feel the air around them getting heavier.

"It's fine now." Allen said, indicating that he was fine with the knights continuing their activities with him around. He walked to the big warehouse where he had remembered Atlas saying it was a weaponry.

The knights heaved a loud sigh of relief when they had made sure that Allen had already entered the weaponry, they all looked at each other and reflected back on the moment before.

A new knight that had only just arrived at Drakos a few months ago was still shaking in fear while his seniors cheered him up. "He's even scarier than Kayden." he said in disbelief, he had met the first prince once when he had first arrived and the presence of Kayden shook him to the bone.

The new knight couldn't even imagine being near the king, he felt like he would've been crushed to death in an instant. He was taken aback by the large unsettling presence that the fourth prince gave off even though he was still rather newly crowned.

The aura that revolved around Allen wasn't marked as aggressive but it felt unsettling instead, like a silent but deadly wave crawling up behind you without yourself even knowing.

The knights continued their activities but some were still obviously thinking about the extreme fear they had felt earlier, it was almost comparable to the king, but the aura of the king and the fourth prince felt noticeably different.

Allen was looking at the array of weapons and remembered how hard it was for him to pick one which was suited for him to use, he was skilled with a bow but he felt like it wouldn't have matched with his magic.

Leaving the weaponry, Allen focused back on his main task, finding an empty spot for him to test the waters. He eventually found an empty area with no knights training around, he took a seat and fumbled in the pockets of his shirt to take out a piece of instruction manual for converting water magic into it's deviant, ice.

Allen had heard that it was rather difficult to master a deviant without regular use of it's natural which is water. However, he figured it was worth a try as he had always been able to figure things out, no matter how hard the problem was.

After mutiple attempts, the closest result to what he wanted to achieve was just cold water that wasn't even close to ice. He slammed his hand onto the grass in fustration, accidentally freezing a patch of grass underneath him.

"Seriously..?" he mumured, he felt ridiculous, without even trying to create ice just then, he did it on accident.

Before Allen could continue with his training, he heard footsteps behind him, a man with hazel hair and green eyes approached him with a small smile. It was the same man in the obsidian armor that was part of the Imperial Knights that had greeted him at the gate yesterday.

"Allen.." the man called out, his voice cracking at the end.

Allen didn't reply but just nodded, he didn't feel guilty for not remembering the knight that had seem to known him. Instead, all he felt was pity for the knight that seemed to have heavily depended on him in the past.

Andres felt disappointed that he didn't even recieved a greeting from Allen. Even in the past, no matter how agitated Allen was, he still responded to everyone as politely as he could.

"Why don't we spend some time together, maybe just in case, you can remember me again somehow." Andres offered, grabbing a sheet of paper beside Allen and reading it.

"Move on from the past, if you're hoping we could go back somehow.." Allen softly said, standing up and taking his paper back.

"You're sorely mistaken. Everything now is different from how it was." Allen said with a kind tone. What he said wasn't to decline and ridicule the desperation of the man, it was just a wake up call.

Andres face changed to a pained expression as he looked down on the floor, tears about to flow from his eyes.

"However.." Allen said before leaving, "Even if we can't go back, there are still alternatives." he encouraged before leaving Andres behind.

Allen made his way back to the castle as he felt like he had done enough for today. He made his way through the stairs and hallways but was stopped by the same butler as yesterday.

"You are required to attend dinner later, Prince Allen. You'll be introduced to Lawrence again." the butler said, before helping Allen open the door to his room.
