Don't be too naive and kind

Allen Carter was one of the youngest adventurer anyone had even encountered. Not only was he young but he had a knack for healing.

Allen was a healing magic user that was a C tier at a young age of 12, well known for his quick thinking skills in dire situations and bursts of healing magic.

Even though Allen was young, many people had requested for him to be a permanent member of their guild as his healing magic was quite useful despite his low tier, but he felt like he didn't need to be in a group and was a free adventurer.

"Allen!! someone is at the door dear." the orphanage head said as she waved her hand eagerly.

"I'm coming!!" Allen replied as he placed down his book and rushed to the front door.

"Your name is Allen Carter?" a man in a suit said as he looked at his notepad in his hands and started writing down with fast speed. "You're younger than I thought..hm" the man talked to himself while scratching his chin.

"Um,sir? Would you like to come in? I could..brew some tea for you sir" Allen replied nervously asked he fidgeted around.

'He seems like an important figure..and he seems scary' he thought.

"Than, excuse me" the man said as he shoved his way in and took off his shoes and walked through the hallway and made it to the living room filled with children while Allen tailed behind him.

Allen invited the man over to the main table and sat down respectfully and poured tea into a cup and gave it to the man.

"Allen Carter, I know you're on a break from adventuring dungeons lately but there seems to a B tier dungeon behind the mountain that this orphanage is located at."

'Do I say something? why did he suddenly pause? he's making me nervous.'

Allen had taken a break from adventuring for a while as he had recently witnessed a revolting sight that he couldn't get rid off and had decided to take a few days off so he could steady himself.

"I need you to be a healer for the dungeon squad that is attending to the dungeon. Their healer was caught in an ambush and is out for a few days now." the man sipped his tea and shook his head. "that bastard.." he softly whispered in fustration.

Allen had heard such words mutiple times but was told by the orphanage head that he shouldn't follow such vulgar and rude examples given by adults. He had always known those words were rather inappropriate to use due to the consistent nagging of the orphanage head.

"I really don't think a kid could do that much in an dungeon" he looked at the frail looking kid infront of him and snickered.

"I can heal really well!! so you can trust me!" Allen excitedly said.

"Then I'll trust you to be at the dungeon there at 10PM, a member of the squad will be at your door and take you there." he stood up and walked away without even looking back.

'I really hope I can do my best in this raid and help everybody there.. I've rarely attend such a high level dungeon due to my age..'

Allen was often underestimated due to his small and frail body and his age so he was often put into lower ranked dungeons such as D or E level.

This new request made him forget the revolting sight he saw that day when a team member head got decapitated by an ant in the wilderness. Allen shook off that disturbing thought and checked his stopwatch and counted the hours left till the raid.

"Oh Allen, you're getting back to raiding? you can take a break you know. The money you earned can support the orphanage quite well for a few months." the orphanage director said, she was a frail woman who had not many years left and she would always spend her time with the children.

"Hehe! Of course! I'm doing this for fun too! I really loove helping people" Allen admitted and giggled.

'Allen is sometimes so bright he seems like an angel that was descended upon us, his kind nature is truly a blessing'

"Allen,in the future.. you shouldn't stay so naive and be so kind to everyone you see alright?"

Allen thought for a while and it didn't make sense to him. Why can't everyone be nice to each other? Won't the world become a better place than?

'Allen was such a nice kid since he was young, he had never gotten angry before. I hope he can stay the angel he is but gain some knowledge of this cruel world..' the orphanage director was worried for the naive Allen.

"Don't worry too much! If I treat them with kindness, won't they treat me the same in return?" he recalled a phrase in a book he had recently read.

The orphanage director smiled and kept quiet, knowing not many people in the world take after that and often hop on every chance they can get their hands on.

The world was the survival of the fittest, if you're weak, you get discriminated. If you're an adventurer you have better influence and authority than other normal people.

Even adventurers often discriminate against each other, the higher the rank the more cunning people become and treat the people who are lower than them like trash. They know they're strong to defend themselves,so they could make hasty decisions.

However, the weak don't get that kind of decision. Whether they could defend themselves is up to them,as no one sides with them as they are weak and lower tiered.

Generosity is rare in this world, so whenever someone is too kind, you'll always doubt them. However, Allen had became quite well known for his gentle and caring personality so no doubt was pointed at him.

It's up to the person who recieved kindnesses whether to return it, or ignore the acts of kindnesses and disregard it. Some people may be nice, but they are the easiest to be fooled around with and taken advantage of. The nicer you are, the more vulnerable you portray yourselves to others.

Allen checked the time on his stopwatch and sighed as he tried to be patient and went back to his books.
