25 Picking a Dungeon Quest & Special Dungeons

"Oh, there seems to be a quest that can be done in a dungeon", Chris looked at the quest board and picked a quest that fulfils his conditions, "Bring the heart of the salamander, Ouzel located in the salamander dungeon".

"Hmm, a fire-attribute dungeon? that's rare in this kingdom. It looks old but why has no one picked and completed this yet?"

"Are the levels of the salamanders high? No, the levels seemed to be in between 21-25. Even the boss, Ouzel should be less than 30. So the levels shouldn't be the problem. What exactly was the reason it was still hanging on the quest board?"

"Whatever, I should pick this up. This is the best one I could pick anyway. If there was trouble, I could run away", Chris decided to complete it.

He then arrived at the reception desk, and said, "Hello miss, I would like to take this quest".

When the girl read the quest, she looked at him with concern in her eyes, "Are you sure about selecting this quest?"

"Yes, I am".

"Okay, I'll register it for you but you should know that this quest is quite complicated and couldn't be completed for a long time. It would be quite difficult and the reason why it was still on the board", she said.

"Oh, so that's the reason, but there should be someone stronger to complete it right?" Chris asked.

"As you say there are indeed strong people here but the location was the main problem. If it was available in the wilds, it would have long been completed. The quest can only be completed in Nightmare mode and only people that were allowed should be below level 25", she answered.

"Huh, I understand the level limit but what is this Nightmare mode?" Chris asked back.

Of course, he knew about Nightmare mode but that existed only for the game. Once the game became a reality, the dungeons would have only one mode. There are a few special dungeons that have different modes based on difficulty.

In his past life, he got his hands on one such dungeon. It was an attribute dungeon and they are very rare. The known ones were already occupied by the royal families and the entry was restricted only to the royal family and ones that gained their favor.

These dungeons unlike other dungeons can be moved to a place of their choice.

You see, once a dungeon was conquered in Nightmare mode, the core can be claimed by the conquerer. It can be placed in any place they want and a dungeon would be spawned there. Unlike wild dungeons, these can be controlled. The beasts or resources produced by them can be as much as the owner wants.

Chris knew that there were Attribute Dungeons that were not conquered in the vicinity of Winter Kingdom and it was only a rough idea.

Now the receptionist is saying that there was a special dungeon near here and was not occupied by any.

How can that be possible?

He felt something was wrong about this, but couldn't pinpoint it.

"It is what we call a special dungeon. Normally dungeons don't have different modes. Yes, there are ranks and that rank defines the difficulty of that dungeon but these special dungeons are something different. It would be like there would be multiple ranks for the same dungeon.

The problem was that the ranking couldn't be placed on these modes. For example, for an F-rank dungeon, only adventurers who are in an F-rank are advised to go and the dungeon would only allow F-rank adventurers to enter. It was the same as one goes up.

The problem here was you had to face E-rank difficulty when you were in F-rank which should be considered far higher difficulty. So they were very difficult to conquer", she said.

"So what exactly does one get out of these dungeons?"

"It depends".

"Huh?"

"It depends on its speciality. There are attribute dungeons which increase attributes, Crystal dungeons which produce Magic Crystals etc.."

"I understand", Chris said.

"It looks like attribute dungeons weren't the only special dungeons. Even though I returned from the future, there are many mysteries I don't know. It was the right decision to lay low for the moment", Chris thought.

"Thank you for the information", he said and left the guild.

Once outside, "I selected what dungeon to go to. Now only one thing remains, selecting my Sub-Class", he thought.
